I find a lot of things grossly offensive, but I can choose not to look at them. The pope, for instance. Or Craster.

We should probably change the site title to "Behave Within The Bounds Of The Law To Each Other"

Of course it bloody is*, but photos of it aren't**. However, I'm reasonably sure that showing photos of kids getting killed is going to break at least one of the laws we have in this country. Could be wrong, of course. And if I am, fill your boots.

*In this country anyway. Is it still legal to chuck animals off towers in Spain? Bullfighting's still legal there, isn't it? Odd country.

**Particularly photos of some blokes just holding a goat. Also - how do we know that there isn't a bouncy castle at the bottom of that tower? The goat could be having fun.

Can we have a bit less provocation around here please?

I haven't clicked on the link and I'm not going to, but if it's upsetting people it might be good to remove it, non?

They do, but some of the goats still come away with injuries or worse. I remember quite a stir about this one year but I don't know if it was subsequently banned or not. It is done as part of a festival because some historical person (saint, perhaps?) apparently fell from the tower and survived, so for some reason they figure this means they should throw a live goat out of the window.

The joke was that goats in Spain can climb and, once a year, when the belltower is so full of our caprine friends, have to be forcefully removed.

No provocation was intended at all.

It turns out I was, almost, right:

Quote:
Local legend says the festival was born "long ago" when an intrepid goat scaled the steps of the 18th century church to eat food the village priest had left for doves.

When the priest discovered the goat it leapt from the belfry and ran off into the hills.

So, basically, this is a cultural and religious thing? A different value and belief system?

I think I can set up an LLP and be the only member. But for an unincorproated partnership you're right - you can't have one with one partner. The phrase I was groping for blindly was "sole practitioner". Which is excellent as it sounds more as if I'm a wizard.

Technically, it comes into my account, then goes straight out to the council to pay for my bin collections.

Ooooh, are you Dawkins today?

I'm not a big fan of cultural relativism, but we can't say "well, this difference of opinion on the approach to issue [x] is ok, but this one isn't" without some searching questions being asked as to motivation.

MaliA wrote:

I think the council's missing a trick here - they should be making you collect the bins.

Well, you say that, but it's only a matter of degree between chucking goats out of towers and eating halal meat.
