'Concrete cancer' I believe, or so I was reading in the paper the other day. Apparently it's down to the cast-in steel reinforcement rusting over time, because this wasn't sealed very well originally.

Pretty bad news; eventually can lead to catastrophic failure I understand and hideously expensive to put right.

Chances are this will become apparent on shitloads of infrastructural elements over time, if it isn't already, which is an unpleasant thought.

It happened to all the multi-storey car parks around here. A few of them had long-winded re-engineering work done (as far as I could tell, they propped up the roof on each floor and completely replaced the supporting pillars one by one). I'd imagine that wasn't cheap. One of them was torn down altogether, which I guess confirms it can't be a cheap process.

As someone who sometimes drives into London from the west, I'm sure I'll be cursing this news in the near future.

The backstory is even better. The flyover was built with under surface heating to deal with ice an snow. However it didn't work so they had to grit it. Further however, because the flyover was built to not need gritting, they didn't seal it. Hence the rust.

Really? Duh. What a total cock up. In that case I'm at a loss as to why it was ever accepted/signed off (assuming it was).

That's probably because a normal-sized salesman was standing next to it.

Second date update.

She was very tactile throughout the date and the face sucking at the end was nigh on inevitable. Goddamn I'm smooth.

I came straight from work so I was still in my suit; pimpin' it up. Irresistible. ;)

I like pensioners for two reasons:

1. They are often at home during the day when I call on them.

2. They often have time on their hands so are happy to be interviewed when I first call on them.

No, that was yesterday in Macclesfield. Today was the Family Resources Survey in Sale.

Tomorrow morning is Adult Skills in Congleton, followed by more sex in Macclesfield.

I haven't had any pensioners for sex yet, but it's surely only a matter of time.

Happy birthday kovacs, kovacs happy birthday!

There's a man servicing the fire extinguishers in the office. He's named Harry White and is quite large. I aught to go and check if he's actually driving a Bedford Rascal.

In other news, is there anyone Jeremy Clarkson won't succeed in offending, and will the Guardian ever stop putting him in the limelight for it? http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2012/ja ... ravan-park

So, the landlord of the place we wish to move onto wants us to sign for 12 months which isn't happening, so we've said "6, with an option for 12" and we're waiting to hear back from him. The house we looked around yesterday was OK, but a bit impractical for transport links, pib and a chippy.

I'm also waiting for a call from my new best friend, Katie, with news about a temp job. On the meantime, I've got tidying to do.

Happy Kovday. In celebration, I bought a(nother) 360 HD DVD player and about 40 films which arrived today. (not bad for £60). For me, obviously, not Kov. :)

While I know what that's actually a reference to, it would be an excellent euphemism for the wife waking up horny.

She often wakes up horny. Usually by kicking me, because my alarm is going off but I'm still asleep.
