Official BETEO Forza Race Club of Gentlemen

Without an opinion on the damage thing either way, someone should point out that Forza 3 is the definition of "nerdy car simulation".
Sorry Chinny, but you can't talk about shunting and fair play when instead of letting me past at Sedona when I was much faster than you, you decided to weave about the track to keep me behind. This is the race club of gentlemen!

We usually tend to like having damage on because it's meant to give a consequence to your actions. If you make a silly dive up the inside and go headfirst into the barrier, you deserve to be damaged. I'd hate to turn the night into either Gran Turismo where you can bounce off the Walls to your heart's content, or a glorified time trial.

It's a shame when you get punted off, but sometimes it's no one's fault and is just a racing incident. Those who are using fellow racers' cars as brakes though, need to be a bit more cautious, especially on the first corner.

The previous 3 weeks were fun. Last night was..... patchy.
Given the problem is usually at the first corner, it'd make sense to have a rolling start, but unless there's an option for that, I suspect setting it up would take too long.
You could just have someone shout "go" at 5 second intervals :)
You can have it do that for you, each car setting off a second or two after the one in front, which is better in a way. If you had a normal rolling start then the first corner would still often be a pile-up when someone gets the braking all wrong.
They should make it turn based like Final Fantasy.
Or a text adventure.

Remember being pissed up trying to play Gran Turismo with a dance mat? Crazy times! :nerd:
Yeah... didn't work so good if I remember.
Dear Bumlords.

STOP PLAYING ON WEDNESDAYS!!

Love

Me.
Basically what you're saying is that you want to throw nearly three years of tradition out of the window to satisfy your selfish ends?

Yes.

I don't see how that's unreasonable ;) . Afterall the Universe revolves around me in any case.

I think it should be Forza night when I say it is, then you lot should be obliged to play.

If anyone sees me in the game they should always feel free to buzz me.
Wednesday then?
How about tomorrow?
I'm thinking about 30 hours hence.
I'll probably be around early on, but can't see myself playing any later than 10ish.
I refer the honourable gentlemen to my previous posts regarding Wednesdays.

As is now traditional, I will not be playing.
Can't you deliver pizzas on Thursday?
I wanna do a 30 lap le mans stylee race....not tonight tho, as its short notice...but may be next wednesday.

4 teams of two, one with an R1 car the other with an R3 so there should be some fun tactics, lapping of slower cars...pitting and stuff. I think intentional blocking (not ramming) would also make things a little more interesting.

Teams can be chosen beforehand so we can pick 4 team colours to make it easier to identify team mates.

I hope to get on tonight but I have a course til 730 so wont be online til around 9-930 ish.
I wont be on any earlier, Ramsea. See you on the Grid. Then in my rear view!

You should probably drive the right way round.

I forgot I have a band practice tonight. If you see me online at 9:30, chuck me an invite.

Just for the record:

LAST WEEK I BEAT RAMSEA (AND EVERYONE ELSE ACTUALLY) IN A REAL RACE.
I may be on but workload is mental.

Whoever hosts is normally open to suggestions as to cars and tracks. So if there's something you want to do just say so.

For tonight I think we should do the two second staggered start thing with grid positions decided by points on the night but in reverse order. It'll avoid so many first corner pile ups, there'll be lots of passing and if you are ahead on points you need to work to stay that way. Also cosmetic damage only but it's still the race club of gentleman.
That was really good... a bare minimum of racing incidents, lots of really tight racing, and a Rev Stu Revival Race!
Aye, well chosen cars and tracks there Pundy, good competition. Especially sporting of Ramsea to give us a 20 second head start in the last race :D

A complete lack of lag helped. Only distracting thing was an invisible car floating through the air for about a second at one stage.

Also its far better with realistic damage turned off as even when Kalmar rear ended me at the start of one race, it wasn't a show stopper and I manage to finish second.

I also got to race one of my cars which always makes me happy. My 80's red M3 put up a formidable fight against much newer motors.

KALMARRRRRRR!!
Need to sort out the NAT issues for next time. I don't get it at all, we've all raced together on different evenings, so what's clashing?

Apart from that I enjoyed the racing last night, some real close calls and I only ever veered off by pushing my car too hard rather than someone else shoving me.
I've no idea, next time Kalmar's online I'll try inviting him to a game to see if we can test what's going on. I checked and my NAT settings are open.
BAN KALMAR

AND RAMSEA.
AND PIT LANES.

KALMARRRRRRR!!

Yeah sorry mate :( I was going to bugger off again and give you your place back but I think you'd given up by that point.

Yes, we'll need to sort that NAT thing out. I had a look at my router settings last night but couldn't see anything obvious.

Can anyone explain the actual problem and how to avoid it? Googling only turns up idiotic gaming forums with clueless people guessing.
First thing to do would be to try this:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/908880

That'll tell you if you have a NAT issue. You'll then need to do a search about how to rectify the problem for your specific router.

It's a bit weird how I could play against everyone else and you could but we just couldn't join games with each other.
I'll have a look tonight. I'm pretty sure it's going to say "open" though :(
If it's open then I think it just won't say anything, but yeah. It's a mystery for sure.
Hmm, you could both race together last week without Pundy there IIRC.

Could it be something to do with his settings perhaps?
Don't think so because we raced with Pundy before Kalmar arrived.
Kill them both then. Only way to be sure.

Yeah, I think I gave a little too much of a head start in the last one, I was making it longer and longer but on that one I struggled to catch up...also it didnt help when Zardoz reappeared back onto the track after going off on the last corner and slowing me right down...bloody Zardoz.

Zardoz wrote:

haha, that was my highlight of the evening, thanks for that Zardoz! Pity I forgot to save that replay...was well worth an upload. :DD
Man, I did drive into that pitlane smooth and fast though.

:DD
Last night also proved a theory I've had about Bezzie Forza I've had a while:

The formula for bezzie success = Low to moderate PI cars+many laps of short tracks

Rather than taking S and R class cars around Nerdbergring.

Speedway and varients is quite good in S and R cars. But mainly you are right.
Not going to be around tomorrow night as I'm off out for a Curry*.

May the NAT Gods be with you, Gentleman. Ramsea, make the most of the practice in my absence.

I couldn't join you people last week. I was all set to go, but something came up at the last possible moment. And this week I'm having visitors.

But next week, I hope...
My internet has gone completely shit again so can't join, soz :( Next week.
