Now I'm watching Dispatches about children in primary schools drastically failing in their levels of numeracy. Said lady, Rachel Riley, has now visited the school to help teach the group of year-sixes some basic maths before they get carted off to secondary school. It's an interesting programme, but that isn't the point. The point is: I retract my thoughts; she is quite pretty in video.

Gaywood is still entitled to have his Vorderman crush.

I've met Vorderman. She oozes sex appeal, which is rarer than you think. It completely bypasses what she looks like - she's just sexy in a visceral way.

Wet wall paper will blunt a stanley blade in about 2-3 cuts. Get some big scissors. Or stick it well and cut it when it's dry (with a blade) and use some PVA to make sure the edges don't curl up afterward.

They'll probably get rid of the one in Birmingham Debenhams then, I don't think anyone knows it's there.

And Riles, er, I mean Apple Pie, I think that Gamestation is where HMV used to be, there certainly was one on New Street at some point in time.

Another major earthquake out there, this time Chile. What the hell's going on? Has Lex Luthor got some big earthquake maker or something?

Quote:
Beeb: Massive earthquake strikes Chile

A massive earthquake with an initial magnitude of 8.8 has struck central Chile. The quake struck at 0634 GMT about 91km (56 miles) north-east of the city of Concepcion and 317km south-west of the capital, Santiago. Buildings in Santiago were reported to have shaken for between 10 and 30 seconds, with the loss of electricity and communications.
The US issued an initial tsunami warning for Chile, Peru and Ecuador.

Well I can guess what was on it and he was very silly for putting it up. He already dug the hole now I think he may have pushed himself into it.

I love his reply where he states that he will be seeking legal advice then makes some questionable legal statements that he plucked out of the ether to suit his point of view.

Today’s live band in the library is a slightly but significantly off-key, out of tune jazz trio with clarinet, guitar and a thinly voiced lead singer. People seem to like them or are just clapping politely, but good lord – they’ve been on one and a half hours now. There’s only so much Cole Porter I can take, especially when delicately murdered. They’re not bad as such, just not at all good. And they’re relentless.

Please… no more… NEED DRINK

Interesting development...

OK, so nan has been out of hospital a few days now. I am doing most stuff, but she has a carer to shower her in the morning and help her with her nightwear at night.

The other day I did a little shopping for the two of us. A lot of things were 3 for the price of 2, so many things came in threes.

Now, there appear to be quite a few things missing from the fridge... A block of Jarlsberg, some salmon, yoghurt. All things that I bought multiples of but which neither of us has yet eaten, including a pack of tomatoes. I have checked my receipt to make sure that I am not mistaken about what I bought. The carer prepares a drink before she goes, and she's the only other person it could be.

Assuming my gran isn't sleep-walking and eating whole blocks of cheese with a salmon chaser... :S

Post subject:  Re: Bits and Bobs 17: The DavSpazening

Well, I'll certainly be waiting around tomorrow. The morning/afternoon moments when she comes over are the only two 20 minute periods when I know there is someone caring for my nan, so the last two days I have stepped out for 10 minute air, or nipped along to McDonalds to get a hot chocolate. I have just written a list of everything that is in the fridge, so I'm going to keep track of what is in there.

I've looked all through the freezer and cupboard to make sure that nan couldn't have moved them, even though I know this is impossible as she can't open the freezer drawers at the moment, but they are nowhere to be seen.

Post subject:  Re: Bits and Bobs 17: The DavSpazening

That's disgusting but becoming more common.

I saw a news item recently where an elderly lady thought she was losing money from her purse so she set up a hidden camera and it was one of her carers helping herself. It's indicative of the general decline in moral standards of society as a whole.

Wow I sound like my Granddad used to.

Author:  Mimi [ Sun Feb 28, 2010 10:05 ]
Post subject:  Re: Bits and Bobs 17: The DavSpazening

This is how I have dealt with it:

I wrote a list of everything in the fridge, including use-by dates, and stuck it to the door of the fridge. I included a couple f items I cooked for nan's tea last night and crossed them off. Now, if this is somehow not the carer this will mean absolutely nothing, but a handy way to keep track of what needs eating. If, however (and I am certain this is the case but have no proof) she has taken items from the fridge, she will know that everything is being kept track of and that this list has some significance.

I have heard many times of carers taking money, which is of course worse than what is going on here, but it is the sheer cheek of it. of course, all this said, she hasn't turned up today :p
