Now I'm watching Dispatches about children in primary schools drastically failing in their levels of numeracy. Said lady, Rachel Riley, has now visited the school to help teach the group of year-sixes some basic maths before they get carted off to secondary school. It's an interesting programme, but that isn't the point. The point is: I retract my thoughts; she is quite pretty in video.

Last night, me and the missus 'solo' wallpapered for the first time. Usually we have parental assistance. In retrospect, the inside of a walk in wardrobe with many (many) fiddly bits was not the best choice for this learning experience. And GRRR to my damn stanley knife, that only cuts paper 10% of the time, prefering instead to tear.

Wet wall paper will blunt a stanley blade in about 2-3 cuts. Get some big scissors. Or stick it well and cut it when it's dry (with a blade) and use some PVA to make sure the edges don't curl up afterward.

See, I knew this would happen. The mods all fuck off to Manchester without leaving me the keys, and we have the second coming.

Beeb: Massive earthquake strikes Chile

A massive earthquake with an initial magnitude of 8.8 has struck central Chile. The quake struck at 0634 GMT about 91km (56 miles) north-east of the city of Concepcion and 317km south-west of the capital, Santiago. Buildings in Santiago were reported to have shaken for between 10 and 30 seconds, with the loss of electricity and communications.
The US issued an initial tsunami warning for Chile, Peru and Ecuador.
