No, it's just one of those things when you think that things are going to turn around and something good will happen, but then, instead, life just gives you another little slap around the face to remind you that you aren't one of the chosen ones. If I had a glass of wine I would be drunk and down, but instead I am just down, which is a better state to be in, but less likely to lead to deep sleep.

I'm going to just pit my head down and listen to Richard Dawkin's sneering voice on an audiobook and hope he suitably bores me to sleep.

Right, I'm going to send you a banana themed package (oh my, that sounds so rude) tomorrow even if it means walking in the rain.

I hope life gets better for you, Meems. You seem to get the shifty end of every stick in life :(

I need to stop wrestling with Miss Malabar. She managed to momentarily put most of her weight on my bad arm this evening, and ended up moving it about 10 degrees past the zone commonly known as "My arm will probably snap if you push it much further." When your arm can only just retract to just further than a right angle, this sort of stuff is seriously bloody painful. Not comfortable right now.

Learn the Crippler Crossface and that'll put her in her place :)

Beer tasting evening at the University club was OK. Bumped into an old colleague and I've got my name on another paper coming out soon-ish, which is nice. Currently have slight headache form too much beer. University Club still looks like an airport departure lounge.

Thankyou for all of the hugs, guys, it was very lovely to read when I woke up.

I manage to bounce so much rubbish off of me and stay generally quite cheery, but this last year and a half bad things just keep on happening, piling one upon the other. I have lost many people close to me, had long hospital stays and had the course of my life changed because of it, had so many troubles with everything that sometimes I just don't feel cheery and just want to stop resisting the torrent of rubbish and let it knock me down. Maybe then life will see what it is doing to me. Everything seems so unbalanced - some folks just amble through it happy and with all of the luck in the world, and opportunity just falls at their feet. My uncle is like this and he is not a good or nice man by any means. maybe that is why - maybe you need to take advantage of everyone else to get like that, but I just let it get to me last night as I was tired of saying 'cheer up' to myself.

I didn't sleep very well, but I slept. I am now doing some work but have decided that I am going to do so from the sofa and under a duvet. Not optimum conditions, but I don't care. I am going to have a nap between tasks and cheer myself up over the course of the day, hopefully.

I'm trying not to, Mali. I know that part of life is losing people you love, and I can manage that even though it does leave me feeling kind of empty inside sometimes, but I'm so tired now of hospital stays. I can't do all of the things I want and medical things mean I have to take things easy much of the time. I get about and do things, but not as I'd like. I feel tired much of the time and had to make a choice earlier in the year to try and keep my working ovary to give me a last chance of having children, but it gives me such pain and seems to be in vain. Sorry, maybe this is too much info, but it makes me feel so sad, and I try to jolly along regardless, but now everything seems to conspire to want to make me homeless anyway so perhaps none of the above matters. Sometimes things don't feel small. Maybe it is the permanence of some things as I don't know how to change them. For many things I just cannot.

I made the mistake of actually saying I had a really ace day, yesterday. Never do that.

The jubbily line does go through Neasden. I actually used to be closer to Wembley Park, which the jubbily line also goes through. Hopefully I'll be able to go back there for a few days before Christmas if things pick up as I miss my brothers a little.

Have to go to London again on Thursday, but the bloody railway is broken so it's a replacement bus to Swindon. Yay. I will console myself by going to the Imperial War Museum instead of doing any work before the meeting as we're in Kennington anyway.

Somebody has managed to steal an entire desktop PC from this library, and CCTV and staff were caught entirely unawares.

We really need dedicated security here.

There's logic to it, isn't there?
It's colder at 8pm than at 7pm. Is it "more colder" that it is in the morning?

Hope you're feeling a bit better in yourself today, Meems.
