It's reflowered as well, which those things don't tend to do.

NEVER buy a Samsung printer. They are shite. For the record it was a CLP 300N which had a fucked paper feed mechanism which has slowly been getting worse since March and that Samsung have refused to honour the warranty on.

At the same time, don't ever buy a Lexmark or Canon printer. They're both shit too.

In fact, the only printers I've known to be actually good are HP and (heh) the old Apple Laserwriters (which shared bits with early HPs, it seems)

Serious question. Is it normal/safe for there to be a couple of blue sparks inside a drill when you use it?

Concerned of Stoke...

Sometimes, yes. Does it smell funny, though?

Yes, drills spark if you give them a good hard revving. There is a name for the smell that's produced, can't think of what it's called though.

Did anyone else have the revving smoking thing for Scalextric? The car sits up on rollers and you fill a little well with lighter fluid, which the sparks off the cars make produce smoke until you pull the lever and the rollers drop. Man, that was awesome. Until I invariably put too much lighter fluid in, which caught light and the cars sped off leaving a trail of fire along the track. Which was on the carpet.

I think my dad or grandfather or someone had a very similar thing involving a steam locomotive... you could pour foul smelling oil into a little reservoir and as it heated up it would belch out smoke.

Slot racing sets I never had much luck with - my parents had an old Scalextric from the late 70s which was knackered (the contact brushes had never worked well, apparently). They then bought an AFX set, which was probably the best one we'd ever had - two classic Corvettes, a modern (1980s) racing Corvette and another car I can't remember, which had sprung contact shoes and so avoided the scourge of brushes. Unlike the M.A.S.K. one I got a few years later, where (again) the brushes were shit.

After the M.A.S.K. set I gave up on them.

My grandmother also bought me a Transformers HO gauge train set... the idea being it was a 'battle train' and it would 'transform' by pushing a button on the control box. This would simply release a catch that would cause the front of the locomotive to fly open revealing a robot... with such force that the train would invariably derail. We took it back to the store in the end (even I thought it was a bit shit).

The man from Printerland said the Xerox units were quite good so I'm hopeful I made the right choice. Since they sell pretty much every current model, I'm assuming they are unbiased and know what they are talking about.

Good lord, the state of the green screening on that screen grab. I'm sure they actually drove the car into them in the film.

Right, I'm playing Condemned for the first time on the 360. Got past the first chapter and then got attacked by some tramps. From behind. Does it get any "scarier" than just hackneyed jump-scares?

No, wait... that's not right.

Anyway, kitchen appliance experts: my washing machine won't drain all the water out of the drum at the end of it's washing cycle - BUT, it will drain all the water out of the drum if I tell it to drain all the water out afterwards using the handily-placed "D" programme.

Any ideas why this might be? It may not sound like a ballache, but because the water's not drained all the washing is soaking wet as opposed to being "damp" like it used to be it means I've got to hang it all out to dry while it's dripping water all over the place.

It's about 6-7 years old, and has mechanical controls.

I've tried it with a half load and it's still not draining the water automatically. Based on experimentation, I'm going to hazard a guess that the spin cycles are all broken - it drains the water manually when I ask it to, but if I set it to either Gentle Spin, Full Spin or Mini Spin, it just doesn't do it and skips to the finish after a few seconds.

Anyone want to come over and make everything work? Can offer, err, yams, possibly, or a look at the sunflower that has appeared in my garden.

EDIT: Also painted half a bedroom today. half a bedroom looks like a nursey and Mrs A is doing knitting now.

I am scared.

Todays go karting was quite successful.

It was also quite nice to beat several people who took the whole thing very seriously.
