I played TinyTower and I thought it was hateful and horrible. Still can't understand the appeal of freemium games.

In better news Ticket to Ride for the iPad now has a pass and play mode for local multiplayer. So it's basically the full £35 boardgame + on line multiplayer for £3.99. It's awesome.

I just flat out don't give a shit about games that carry on in the background. Tamagotchis died in the 90s.

Is probably my fave tower defence game though. It would be The Creeps but that's got the tilt super weapons which ruin it a bit for me.

yup, he got 49 or so..

edit: 51,
by the way, you're not number two as well, revstu is in the 40s, which kinda funny considering his hate for warcraft.."it's doing a job you wouldn't want in normal life"

normally not into this sort of game as well, but this just is kinda captivating, week as we are for 8 bit graphics..
doing an in-app purchase would be defeating the point, wouldn't it? hope they will colour the iap-towers red after some time :)

Oh fucking totally this.

I don't even understand one of them as I had ten fully grown plants and it did fuck all. Getting all the plants seems to be about luck as well.

Plus the 'get three diamonds' one is an absolute cunt.

I must have spun those reels a billion times with no luck.

I got the ten fully grown plants one easily enough. You have to have them at the same time, and I think they might also have to be 'happy'.

The 'all plants' one can fuck right off. I've not even seen most of 'em.

I'm checking every day, it's been on Android for a couple of weeks now.

There's technically nothing stopping me putting it on my phone, but sometimes I really need my phone for calls when I'm out on site, I can't afford to be running the battery down to 50% playing a game and then need to to talk on the thing for an hour as the battery goes flat, which is why I carry around my phone and iTouch with me - split the duties out.

iOS prices just went up in the UK across the board. If you're in Aus, Japan or Switzerland, the opposite happened.

1.19 to 1.49 and 3.99 to 4.99 is a steep rise

Is anyone surprised?

Exactly the same thing happened in the early 90's when VAT rose from 15% to 17.5%. Remember how game pricing changed?

This time Apple absorbed the initial rise instead of producing the odd prices like £3.04 for a £2.99 game as per 1992, but what eventually happened was a £2.99 game became a £3.99 game etc. Same has happened again.

It's nothing to do with that—it's due to Apple deciding it's had enough of App Store content being priced at an exchange rate close to $2 to £1, which is what the rate was when the iOS store launched. Sterling tanked shortly afterwards, but Apple never changed the pricing. More here. The opposite's happened in Australia, where the currency has massively strengthened of late, putting its prices at almost double what the US ones were.

Delete it and re-download it, or tap the icon and see if it re-starts.

Or, alternatively, don't give in to it :P

It cannot be deleted. I can get it to wiggle, but no little X appears. And tapping the icon just makes it go grey momentarily. I will try synching it when I'm back home, and then spend the entire weekend doing nothing but get addicted to this.
