Possibly....

For a start there is no spreadsheet, just a text document. Also it may influence the debate about merging games. We have a top 50 we need to refine which should be the priority. I'm not keen on the idea that peoples decisions on the refining process may be influenced by the fact they could see their favorite game edge upwards.

I didn't even consider it.

I did think about putting GTA London on my list, but the last time I played it the frame rate made me feel queasy.

EDIT: Holy shitballs, I didn't expect that. I didn't know what to expect, but it wasn't that.

I'm surprised to see no GTA of any description, and now Halo game of any description.

I'm also saddened to see no Supercars 2 (you philistines!) and no Lemmings (though that got bumped to #11 on my own list).

That's fair enough.

Excellent work, Chinny (and a little bit from Myp)! Thanks for this, it's been ace :)

I'd like to make this into a UpToJump feature if we can, with someone who voted for each placed game writing a few paragraphs about why they chose it, maybe a few more people for each game as we move up the list.
I'll do FF7 ;)

Resi 4 is a good choice (albeit my 3rd choice behind King's Bounty and Rebelstar 2). It got so much right and no-one has gotten close making a better game in that genre (Dead Space and Resi 5 were okay but miles off).

I'm glad it's a game I love that's at the top spot, but I'm surprised how well it did.

Also: Ta Chinny (& Myps)

Barely heard of the top game beyond the fact that I played RE1 and 2 to death, but voted for several in the Top Ten and I think over half of my votes were for games in the Top 50. And I don't dislike theg ame that won. So that's not bad.

EXCELLENT WORK, CHINNY!

No Dizzy at all. Anywhere.

Further to what I said to Grim.., I am of course happy to comment where it won't prejudice anything.

R-Type clocked in about number 70 (we have no numbering below 50 so all numbers are approx)

No Dizzy!

Deathchase only got 5 votes but from spread across quite a few people.

Ant Attack, Jet Set Willy, Lemmings, Bombjack all hovering down the bottom.

The highest placed game you can play on a CPC or Speccy is number 11 (I'm not counting Doom).

Not much love for Cannon Fodder on 6 points!

surprised Syndicate didn't hit the top 50. I figured, given the Stu Campbell, connection that a few old Amiga-heads would have dropped in a few votes for it.

That was excellent, nice one Chinny (&myp). I think only two of my games made it into the top 50, but that doesn't really surprise me :0)

We can only judge these things over a number of years of running such charts. Also, people *do* have short memories.

Like the listener voted for Top 100's you hear on the radio where some Atomic Kitten dross comes in as the 2nd best song of all time.

Which is why when I compiled such a chart, I deliberately weighted down any song from the past 2 years because otherwise it would have been a travesty.

It's 3 places below R-Type. So approx 20 places outside the top 50.

Me too, it was on my list (although at the lower end). My top 6 were all in the list, many of them nearer the bottom though.

Would be interesting to see which games were only nominated by a single person, possibly some obscure ones in there. Surprised to see Resi 4 winning it. I liked it on the Wii a hell of a lot, but it wasn't in my top ten.

What's odd about that? I know very little about it, so I can't dislike it. Whereas if something I actively dislike had won (Super Mario Galaxy, for instance) then I'd say "Pah!" or something similar.

Very interesting list. Surprised not to see any GTA on it at all, but then I didn't vote (due to not being any good at making my mind when it comes to ranking games).

So, I feel the need to give Resident Evil 4 a go. Which is the best version?

Wii, by a country mile. Gamecube in second place. Avoid the PS2 and PC versions.

RE4 is the only game I can recall completing twice right through (once on 'Cube, once on Wii). I enjoyed every inch of it, and I think it's a worthy winner.

A lot of things that people are complaining are missing (San Andreas, Transport Tycoon, Syndicate) would have placed very high on my list... except I fuelishly follow myp's advice to 'don't vote straight away, as you'll likely have a thought and wish you could change your list'... except this means I just never got around to submitting my list. Bah.

For the record, San Andreas would have been top, Transport Tycoon second.
