I don't imagine anyone's interested but I got an email back from that developer:

Quote:
Hi,

thanks for your mail, but the games are already down (you have to log out to see that the game is offline). I bought this game from the developer ;)

That is the fact why the game is the same (except the name).

And he's right, if I log out of my Google account I get the same error as Grim when trying to hit that URL but when I log back in it's magically available again. I didn't realise Google did that but it's quite a nice way of ensuring that existing customers can always get their hands on what they bought but new people can't buy something that's been taken down.

It's an odd arrangement as well to sell the same game under a new name and developer account but maybe the original dev just didn't have time to maintain it or something. The new dev has put out a new version with improvements according to the changelog so fair play to him.

Just what it says I assume, that they've bought the game and the rights to carry on developing/selling it from the original developer.

Post subject:  Re: Bits N Bobs 42

For the sake of fuck! Our electric cooker pretty much exploded at the weekend i.e. horrible electricy explodey noise accompanied by a shower of sparks from the front. We suspect water got into the hob elements when Mrs B was boiling some veg but either way it's dead.

We'd had good delivery and installation service from Argos previously but they were looking at weeks to deliver a suitable replacment so Mrs B found these folk who promised speedy delivery. Order made and delivery booked for Friday. I got a phone call a couple of days ago saying their was a delay with the manufacturers so they'd need to push delivery out until Tuesday. Fine, it's not a massive deal and it's still a lot quicker than Argos could promise.

I then got another phone call a few minutes ago from a guy checking the details of the order and the address and whatnot; which is fair enough and I appreciated their attention to detail. During the conversation though he happened to ask whether our flat was ground floor or not. No, it's third floor I told him. Only at this point does he bother to mention that their delivery service only does ground floor flats and wouldn't carry anything up stairs. Aside from the fact that I wouldn't be able to humph this kind of gear up three flights of stairs myself, we'd also paid for installation of the dishwasher we'd added to the order and scrapping of the cooker and fridge we already had in the kitchen which would be a waste of money if they weren't going to even come up the stairs. So I had no choice but to cancel the entire order putting us back to square one with no cooker but a week further down the fucking line! Mrs B's going to hit the roof and I'll need to scrabble today to find somewhere else that'll deliver us a cooker ASAP. Fucksticks.

So, anyone got any recommendations of companies that'll deliver white goods quickly? Preferably someone that'll also do the cooker installation as apparently you need an electrician for that so it'd be good to have that done as part of the delivery.

Currys do next day delivery and installation, may not be the best price for the unit itself, but needs must!

Try somewhere local maybe. Not sure about where you live but there's still some independent retailers round here. You'll probably have to pay more than the best price on the internet, though.

Appliences Online http://ao.com/ are very good, and will deliver today if you give them £30.

You'll have to call them to talk about the stairs, though.

Yeah, they're looking like a winner at the moment (pending investigation of their stair policy). Cheers to you and Grim for the recommendation.

Post subject:  Re: Bits N Bobs 42

Except Appliances Online don't do installation of electric cookers in my area so that was a bust. I've eventually got one from Curries that they'll deliver on Sunday and fit and take away the old one so sorted (hopefully).

What a fucking sketch, I ended up trying loads of places and that single cooker from that single website was the only one I could find that was suitable (i.e. was electric, had a ceramic hob, a fan oven, wasn't too big for the space, could be delivered and fitted within a week in my area) and even it wasn't really the colour we were after but fuck it.

So, I sold my Nexus 7 via ebay a few weeks back. Lady raises a case yesterday evening, as apparently it won't charge fully. I replied back saying it was fine when I sent it out. She replies back this morning saying she has replaced the charger and it is now fine and will close the case tomorrow assuming it charges up ok. (I expect she has now tried the charger that was in the box, and not some random USB cable she had lying around that was plugged into a shitty PC that couldn't supply enough charge, but that's beside the point.)

I want to buy a game from Steam. (Craft the World, fact fans). I usually use paypal to buy stuff online, as it means I don't have to fish out my credit card.
Paypal want me to pay into my account £175 before i'm allowed to use it to buy anything, due to the open case. Fucking annoying cunts.

What reasons are there for not using it? It's always seemed like an excellent idea to me and I'll tend to use it where I can in preference to giving out my card details.
