Didn't realise Mazola were making engine oil
£16.99, sorry, misremembered
Give the rover a treat next time (you know she'll be running for another 10 years) get on Opie oils!

Asa treat, I paid three men a pound each to wash it. I hope it won't be running in ten tears, the joke is wearing thin enough for me, already.

That site useful,though, ta.
Normally a voucher code too for free delivery (think its free for stuff over £40) or so many % off.
This is how to sell an old Vitara.

My rear-right let go half a mile from home last night as I accelerated to 60 out of a 30, so I coasted back.

It had felt a little odd along the country road to that point, but I put it down to using Helens mx5 yesterday.

That's the only warning I had, before the aforemoantioned bong and notification. I wasn't sure it wasn't the system confused to be honest, it felt alright, tracking about as straight as it ever does!

Locking nut seemed stripped, so the RAC had to come in. Embarrassing! And a Bit naughty as I've no home start but haven't updated the address yet.

I don't know if its a slow puncture I've suspected for a while or terrible suspension geometry - my mechanic used to mention the camber, but all e61s look the same - but it's down to canvas on the very inner shoulder. Very embarrassing!

The other isn't much better (SUPER embarrassing!) so it's parked up with tyres on the drive coming tomorrow.

And then I'm going to find someone round here that knows their way around a camber bolt.
I want a Suzuki Vitara 96.
They're an excellent little car, and my first recommendation for anyone thinking of getting into driving off-road.
I like the T-Rex clearance mostly, MrsZ's RAV4 keeps getting snagged.
Bobby is selling a Vitara?

Oh my days, at the end I thought that was Bibbyari! :DD
I miss Bibbyari.
I would never misspell a word in an advert!
Hmm, I'm now in 'enough me cash for a remap' territory.

Enquiry to be made once I'm back off holiday next week at http://www.ads-automotive.co.uk. 2mins from my work. Hopefully 1 minute back.
Finally got the invoice through for the battery and brake pads,

£520.76p.

For a battery. And brake pads.

Stupid Audi S4.

Still, it is TT fortnight here at the moment, so I'm getting to have an awesome blast over the mountain in the morning on the way to work whilst the road is one way (unfortunately that same one way system means I have to come back slooooowly over the coast, but it's worth it).

Haven't had the chance to go properly flat out yet, as I'll only do that once I get up onto the mountain mile and can see that there's no other vehicle on the road between me and the end of it, as such I've topped out at around 135mph. But once I get a clear run at it my goal is to have the car bouncing off the 155mph limiter before the end of the mile.

Also been getting a bit of brake fade by the end of the run, but it's well known that the standard brakes on the S4 aren't exactly a perfect match for its power and speed, I just have to factor that into my braking distances for the last couple of miles.
Behold! One of the alloy wheels I've lovingly restored (well greatly improved) on Mrs Z's RAV4. I've loads of in-between pics showing all the sanding/priming/moresanding/etc but had these two on my phone to show a mate at work. Also cleaned up the wheel arches and the spruced up the callipers too as I've been going along. Very pleased with the results. Fucking graft though.

Come and do mine!
Had a sit in a BMW 530d GT last week. It's like an SUV, but (despite the name) is based on the 7 Series platform, which means it is like a limo inside. Acres of legroom and headroom (even in the back) and exceedingly practical.

When the time comes to get a new car, one of those is now top of the list. As a plus, most people think they look bloody horrible (they're not exactly good looking, but it's not as ugly as the LEAF!) so they've dropped in price massively compared to its peers.

I'd love to. But my hands are crippled now.
This one?

I think it looks fine.
I would do mine but I don't have a spare wheel so it would be a right arseache.
They do look horrible. I prefer the Leaf!

Yeah, that's it. People think it looks proper ugly - and to be fair, from the front and rear it's not the greatest looking car - but for me it's the perfect blend of 7-Series luxury, 5-Series price and the practicality of an estate/SUV, all rolled into one.
Not even a space saver wheel?

Need a weekend of fine weather to get each wheel done, so nothing's rushed. Got axle stands etc you could borrow if you ever wanted to do them.

If you go for black like on my Leon you save a lot of time (the paint didn't need priming).

Run flats, so nothing. I could probably buy an alloy with a tyre on ebay for forty quid or so though.

I think the Leaf looks fine, too.

It suffers from big arse syndrome like most EVs but it's not ugly.

The side view of the GT above massively flatters it. At the risk of a titling I've seen them in the flesh and they look gross from behind.

They're not exactly pretty, but I'd hardly call it "gross":

It's not great, but less offensive than the X6
It's a disgrace compared with how good BMWs can look...

Image
They're hardly comparable though, are they? The GT needs a raised arse, it's basically the car's raison d'être - that's always going to limit how you can make the car look.

;)
Be alright once you get it slammed on 28"s.
I had decided that I was going to get one of those BMW GTs but the 3-series once mine has fallen off the road and hopefully they were in my cash buying price range. But now that myp says they're ugly I'm not sure what to do. I think I'd need to find out what Mali thinks before making a decision.

:P

Is the 3-GT based on the 5-series platform, or is it a 3-series in more than just name? For the money I don't think it'd be possible to get better than a 5GT.

As long as you like it that's all that matters.
All recent 5s are 7s with a few inches chopped out of the middle aren't they? Swapped from being a stretched 3 four or five years ago or something.

No idea. That would be a bit weird though wouldn't it? What would the difference be?

The path to MaliCool is learning from others, then ripping with your own style.

Yeah, the F10 onwards are based on the 7 Series platform.

There's a huge difference in build quality between platforms. The 7 platform is also used in the 5 (and 5GT) and has much, much better build quality but they do cut back on some quality for the interior etc when it's used on the 5s.

The 3 series platform is another step down in build quality. Still a premium vehicle, but noticeably different.
Probably full of loads more expensive shite to go expensively wrong too though. I basically just want the car I have but with a hatchback. It's ten years old, faultlessly reliable and still doesn't rattle etc.

I quite like the X6, looks a bit like a chunky tough kids toy truck.
Stop body-shaming tough kids!
I'm aiming to get 200k out of mine. At 113k at the moment and *touches wood* ran brilliantly in the time I've had it.

If I win the lottery I'll get a 240z/280z as a weekend ride.
Got a new car last week - literally new, delivery miles only! It's a 2017 Golf GTD and I love it. I took a couple of Focus' for a test drive but Christ, they were awful. Even the ST was poor, relatively quick for the money but so plasticy and very light at the front end when accelerating hard.

My only request when I went to the salesman was "I want something bigger than a Fiesta or a Corsa, and it needs to be better than my five year old Hyundai i30". The ST was marginal in every department other than performance where it was obviously loads quicker and handled better, generally.

The Golf is streets ahead of the Focus', and wasn't really that much more expensive. It has loads of driver assistance stuff in it, which is pretty weird. I'm undecided about whether or not to turn most of it off yet, it's so strange having it stop/start and drive itself in traffic.
A mate of mine has the same car and the stop/start thing drove him nuts, you can have it permanently disabled if you want - some VAGCOM trickery IIRC. (Rather than manually disabling it each time you start the car.)

All the gizmos on it are indeed very swizzy though.

I trust you'll be stretching its legs a bit whilst the mountain is one way :)
