It's an old-school VTEC so up to 4000rpm it's very tame and a perfectly nice 'normal' car, 4000-6000rpm it starts getting interesting and then 6000-9000rpm it all goes a bit mental.

Peak torque is at 8500rpm.

So it's very much a case of how you drive it and what sort of mood you're in.
Car just needed front pads, other than that just three advisories: front calipers sticking, a bit of play in the ARB and a bit too much travel in the handbrake. :attitude:

To celebrate I've bought a set of genuine remanufactured front calipers in red (£150), OEM Type R front and rear interior mats (£46) and a set of Bosch AeroTwin wiper blades (£15).
VTEC is more like 6k in the s2k. 9k redline means an up shift puts you back above it.

It's fine in normal driving before there though.

Just gotta drive it to your mood and not whinge about lack of overtaking 'low down'.
Slightly more torque than my Civic - ie not much. Rev it high if you want power!
Just had a sniff around and a shit in the new Nissan Micra at my local Nissan dealer.

Conflicted, now. My plan for when the LEAF went back (and assuming I don't just use the Celica/Fabia as a daily driver) was to replace it with a BMW 730d, a decent one of which I should be able to pick up for ~12K, and I would own it at the end of the finance period.

However, the new Micra does tick all the right boxes - with one potential exception - and would undoubtedly be more reliable and economical - but I'd basically just be renting it again.

(the exception is that it currently doesn't have an automatic gearbox, and with my current back/leg troubles I'm not sure I can stomach driving a manual day in day out - I'm OK normally but when my problems flare up it causes immense pain to use the clutch)

I learnt to drive in one of those, badged as a Kia Pride. Then, a girlfriend (i think kov met her) had a 121. Happy days.

Ohhhh yeah, my first car - in an odd yellow/orange colour (it was sunfaded down one side and part of the roof from where it'd been parked up and not used for a year or two by the previous owner (an elderly neighbour).

Replaced my front wiper blades with Bosch AeroTwins today. Noticed that the paint on the wiper arms is very flakey and it's a bit of an eyesore. Is it easy to remove them, sand them down and paint again? What kind of paint do I want?

I'd suggest sanding them, using Halfords grey primer, then using regular matt or gloss black Halford spray paint. If you want to be super sure, you could then put a couple of coats of laquer on there. But by that point you've spent £30 to respray them... (at roughly a tenner a can)
Without seeing a picture it's a bit hard to say but if they looked an arse to remove I'd just leave them in place, mask off the surrounding area thoroughly, give them a sanding and then just hit them with a few coats of satin black Hammerite spray.

Not unless you have a weird car - every vehicle I've had or come into contact with has had clip on, clip off wipers.

As an alternative to Hammerite, I used this on my wheels, brilliant stuff. Had tyres changed and done about 15k on them and no chips.

No, should just need a small spanner

Or a screwdriver.
The Puma ones are bolted on. If yours are too you'll need a spanner (but really a socket) and a small flat-head screwdriver to take the cover off.

Unclip black plastic cover, it hinges up. Undo 13mm nut, or maybe 12mm... I think on civics you have to do this next but with the bonnet up to avoid scratching it but I may be wrong. Lift the wiper arm until perpendicular to glass, like you would when washing, then grab with both hands and wafl violently up and down (toward and away from glass) until it comes free. This is because its in a taper spline which is designed to stick on. Try to mark them before hand so you get them back on the right spline.

I've found Wheels are fairly easy to improve the appearance of. Done all mine black and currently doing the silver alloys on Mrs Zs. Only done one so far, but I'll take lots of pics and write up how I do the next one. Helps to have a full size spare while you do them.

EXCITING ROVER UPDATE!

The "feed me" sensor doesn't appear to work, as there appeared to be a complete lack of 710, so I stuck 4 litres of B&M's semi synthetic​ in £10 for 4 litres). And took the air filter out and gave it a shake. And refilled the coolant which is looking pretty brown, and the tiniest spot of mayo on the filler cap.

Might get it washed today, see if the wheely bin scratches will disappear.
