Grainy picture - i could take one now but you wont see anything against all the rain - i did say they could be generic 'party' type decorations but i doubt it :-(

mince pies are awesome, so don't count as excesive chrissmassy stuff.

Am back in sunny (really heavy rainy) shropshire for the weekend for my Dad's 65th birthday tomorrow. Having a party and fireworks, it should be good, as long as it doesn't rain like today!

Once again, the curry house defeated us. The amount of food one gets is boggling, but I'm far too manly to not order it, so it'll be our little secret.

I could certainly be around if drinks are happening.

I should be back in the north of England during that period.

I went for a curry in Bratfud this evening. My friend had just passed his driving test, so it was pretty scary to get there and back. The meal was excellent though. Two shami kebabs to start, and then a large lamb madras with three chappatis. Yes!

Though now a little slepy.

Cool. I'll let you know closer to the time when I'm free (most of the time). it'd be nice to have some drinks and such.

Wish I could get to sleep. Got into bed at eleven after some dangerously late food. Now I'm doing that half asleep mildly hallucinating mice/snakes writhing on floor/edge of mattress thing and feeling anxious with a racing mind and morbid thoughts. Wonder if it's jet-lag induced. Hrrm. What's for certain is that this anxiety attack thing isn't fun. Keep imagining strokes and sleep-deaths. Argh. So much for my plan for getting up at seven in the morning and doing some writing!

Know what you mean mate. Give up on trying to sleep for a bit - go for a walk, have a cup of tea, read a book or something.
You'll be tired either way so no point lying there stressing out.

Nor me. Some fucker smashed the wing mirror off a neighbour's van the other day. Looking out the window before going to bed and I noticed the girlfriend's car has had her wing mirror bent all the way back. Fortunately it's the bendy sort and wasn't snapped, but clearly some fucking scrotum thinks it's funny to break things as he walks down our street (which, as we've discovered is essentially used as a gateway to a scruffy cunt estate). So that's good. I'm hoping they try it again so I can smash some skulls. Also considering a home CCTV camera, but they're expensive. Perhaps a fake one would suffice?

Ugh. Have you tried killing everybody?

The bus stop around the corner from me is always caught up in a never-ending cycle of having its windows smashed by some dickheads. But there's absolutely no vandalism anywhere else to be seen, just that one lone bus stop surrounded by broken glass. I just don't understand.

Edit: it's outside a retirement home. I bet it's them!

Edit edit: my phone tried to correct the word ‘is’ to ‘iDisk’. WTF.

Concert was good last night. Didn't really take to Stravinsky's 'Symphony of Wind Instruments', but Mahler's Fifth was amazing. The opening solo trumpet, heradling the first movement's funeral march, gave me the creeps. Sadly the peacefulness of the adagio was marred by the noise of rowdy students outside, and hearing far off fireworks during the final movement was a bit distracting, but not enough to ruin it.

I think it's far beyond time that someone told the Emporer he isn't wearing any clothes.

Quote:
Tate director Sir Nicholas Serota said organisers were "delighted" the artist had produced "such compelling images".

Martin Creed drew a liquorice allsort; Howard Hodgkin knocked a tin of paint over, thought "That'll do", Chris Ofili drew a funny man/chicken hybrid; Bridget Riley drew some colored lines, something she's been doing since 1967, well done, Bridget!; Rachael Whiteread made a jam jar painting; Fiona Banner seems to have made your average indie CD cover;Michael Craig Martin is clearly confused, so has made a stopwatch with the word GO written over it; Tracy Emin has decided to patronise the paralympians, as has Patrick Brill; Gary Hume clearly decided he had something better to do that day, than, y;know, finish a fucking painting and Sarah Morris seems to have colored in some rectangles. Anthea Hamilton's work would go pride of place in any 14 year old's portfolio.

It honestly beggars belief. I wish they would fuck off into their garrets and starve to death.

Quote:
The first thing to notice about the posters is how abstract they are, and how they could be for the Olympics at any time. I can't remember seeing posters for the Olympics that don't directly relate to the host city or country. At the Barcelona Olympics in 1992 it was clear they were referring to Spain's flag, and for Sydney's games, an athlete in the shape of boomerangs was a clear nod to Australia. But with this collection, you wouldn't know where the games are being held. Maybe that in itself is a statement

Fuck off, Will Gompertz, and do some research, then. "I can't remember" isn't good enough.

Here, BETEO's very own TheVision has created a stunning interpretation of the paralympics. The bold, yet curvy brush strokes coupled with the intensity of the black angry lines clearly show the disassociation between the modern world and the games of old. The minimalistic use of colour clearly shows that the artist understands the wild simplicity of man and woman competing against each other in London in 2012.

TheVision gave his own views on his creation at the unveiling:-

Quote:
Paint in Windows 7 has come on a bit hasn't it? I remember Paint in Windows '98 and that was shit!

Local fireworks display has been cancelled. Boo-urns!

Still, I can dramatise my non-attendance as a refusal to celebrate the fact that parliament didn't get blown up.

So, re: the webcam security camera thing. Do I need to have my PC on constantly to rig that sort of deal up? I'm looking for something less annoying than that. Also, the PC is in the spare bedroom and I want cameras at the front and back door ideally.

Got to go to IKEA. Thankfully, I'll be going alone, so it should be a quick in, quick out, as opposed to walking around at two metres a second inspecting everything in the shop.

I'm sitting in a pub, enjoying a private Sunday afternoon book-and-beer session (of which the latter is currently better). On another table, a group keep on yelling my name. I feel I ought to wander over and sign autographs or something.

Which pub was that?

It takes 89 seconds to sprint from platform 4 to platform 2 at Shipley station. The difference between the train we were on arriving and the one we wanted to be on leaving was 90 seconds. Shipley station has a stupid layout.
