I can't imagine that automatically make the registered keeper the actual owner. Your loan, your money, your car.

And for her to turn around and limit your access in such a spiteful way? GTFF.

I know, just being patient.. just not easy..

Have asked forthe car to be sold, as i don't need it nor do i want the loan.

Even if her name is on the V5C, if you're paying for it it's your car (the name on the V5 is only the registered keeper, not necessarily the owner).

Get that car back off her, you're paying for it, it's yours.

:this: Bring it up in the divorce proceedings, get it mentioned on paper.

Is it worth building a new PC, or should I just buy a cheap one from PCworld/dell/someone else?

Depends on how you define "worth". It won't be cheaper.

yeah, I'm not sure what I want. Well, what I want is a superduper JC special, but what I need and am willing to pay for are two more realistic factors. I don't know, I have just never liked the thought of buying a prebuilt PC because I don't know what is in it. Although I don't want to spend much money, I like getting the most for it, but it has been so long since I upgraded my PC, that I am unsure how good prebuilt PCs are in comparison to parts nowadays.

Depends what you mean by cheap. If you specify a price then I can do my best to help you :)

By help I mean relay some fucking good advice from the last Custom PC I got..

Try overclockers... not bad price and spec etc etc

4 of us on here got one from there

If you want to do it and will actively enjoy the process of putting it together yourself, then it's worth it. If it's something you'd do purely to get the spec and price you want, it's absolutely not worth it.

I agree.

Recently my pal brought a pile of parts.

1. First GPU arrived dead. Has to go back to Hong Kong.

2. Mounted the mobo on a brass post and it went pfffpfpf

3. Got a replacement mobo and realised one of the cores of the Phenom was hitting 125c before shutting down.

4. Finally got a working PC and has a pile of junk parts that owe him $320.

He should have listened to me and gone Alienware. He's pretty much spent the same now.

I just checked as it happens as someone else was after one. It's gone from about £340 to £480. That said I'd still be happy with it at that price.

:this: and thrice :this:

I personally wouldn't recommend buying from Dell as their customer service for private individuals seems to require an element of dragging oneself across broken glass and hot coals to actually even get as far even as getting them to take your money, much less send you the bloody goods.

In addition to Overclockers UK, Scan do some quite decent gamey systems I believe.

If you want to build your own and want pointing in the right direction, it seems to me that you have 3 truly worthy choices:

- Cheapest, least powerful (but still very, very good): AMD Phenom II based system with an AM2+ / AM3 socket motherboard. JC is a big AMD fan, I'm sure he can help you here.

- Middle-of-the-road: Intel Core i5-750 with a Socket 1156 motherboard.

- Super-powerful, super-priced: Intel Core i7 920 with a Socket 1366 motherboard.

All 3 are 64-bit systems, so go for 4GB of the fastest DDR3 RAM you can afford (DDR2 if you go for a AM2+ motherboard) and ATI seem to have the edge with regards to graphics cards right now. If you wait a few months though, Nvidia will have their own Direct X 11, PhysX-supporting cards out too. Right now though, the ATI 5750, 5770 and 5850 cards seem to be the best bets, depending on your budget.

Well, as I say, I haven't upgraded my PC in 4 years, and then it wasn't top of the range, so almost anything is going to be an improvement. Looking to spend 3-400 tops. I only really use it for the web and a few older games which played on my current PC. Reckon I will just buy a prebuilt one, just need to figure out which ones are not ripping me off.

Edit: Thanks Zio, that is useful.

If you wouldn't enjoy building it, then pre-built is definitely the way to go. There's no real price difference anymore and building it yourself will create unwanted aggravation if it's not something you enjoy.

If you want mucho-cheapness, aim for a decent AMD system for best bang-for-buck ratio.

I've just seen a student's laptop that had FIVE different toolbars in the browser. All with search windows. His actual browser space was about 60% of the screen.

Eejit.

My parents IE on their newish laptop is down to under 50% of screen area being useable browser space due to toolbars and large icons. Their homepage is igoogle, which has 3 seperate countdown clocks (2 of which are for christmas) from three different sites among the multitude of stupid fucking widgets. MSN and Yahoo Messenger load and connect automatically on start up. They have 3 seperate Anti Virus programmes installed, two firewalls and every spybot scan programme known to man.

Power up to navigating to first page in IE from the address bar takes about 10 minutes.

Well according to UPS its been delivered so its either sitting outside my house in the rain or they've got a neighbour to accept it , and its showing as 'in warranty' now on the Xbox website (when it was out of warranty before) so its been repaired in some way.

So from it giving the error on the 12th till being returned today thats 11 days out (including 2 weekends) which seems not too bad a turnaround.

I doubt it's true, if that helps. It's just too hard to try and keep track of all the porn sites.

That makes me a little bit sad, actually.

I doubt it's true, if that helps. It's just too hard to try and keep track of all the porn sites.

Phew! I was fearing for the moral ill-health of the world there.

I'd love to do it Gaz but I fear if I did the person would never speak to you again.

Frankly I find prank calls dated and rather childish. Now go jump off a bridge.

She's mine, that's who.

I have just secured this with a photo message of me, in my pants. Oh yes.

Right then, who can think of a reptile that makes for a lovely, easy to look after pet that also happens to be vegetarian?

I was in Pets At Home with the missus at the weekend, toying with the idea of buying some new pet rats after my previous lovely ladies passed away last year. Whilst purusing the living merchandise I noticed they've started stocking Bearded Dragons. I've never been keen on the idea of lizard ownership before, but these looked great and are apparently a doddle to look after, possibly even more so than the rats were.

The only problem is, they need to eat live insects as well as greens and as I've mentioned on here before, I'm entomophobic. I just couldn't possibly deal with the whole insects thing. It's not the feeding-them-to-lizards bit that's the problem, it's the having to see them, handle them or even just having them in the house. I cannae do it.

So does anyone know of a decent pet reptile that doesn't need to scoff on icky bugs?

Do you mean "current events" or "current front page of Heat"? Celebrity doings do not count as "current events" to me.
