Possibly - we've not talked about our plans yet.

Good, we'll go out for a drink on one of those dates.

So, my good friend Toad (toadusmodus, some of you may have seen him online at some point) has been xbox live hacked, as seems to be going around at the moment.
Xbox support has told him up to 25 days before his money is refunded and he can use his account again. It doesn't take that long really, does it? We have some serious Battlefielding to do, and this hampers our plans somewhat....

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Ev'rywhere you go;
Take a look in the five and ten glistening once again
With candy canes and silver lanes aglow.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Toys in ev'ry store
But the most awful sight to see is Davpaz who will be
A big grinch, I'm sure.

I love Christmas, but if I have to deal with Cliff Richard, tinsel and tiny plastic reindeer that shit chocolate for 2 months, I get sick of it y'know? Just leave it until December.

Also, the house that left their Christmas deccies up until February last year have still got a front window full of Halloween stuff. Firebombings are imminent.

Hey, if you don't like Christmas stuff occurring or even being discussed in November, I respectfully suggest you either ignore it or learn not to get worked up to the point of firebombing anyone. Otherwise you're just imposing your grinchood on others. They're not making you be christmassy, they just want the freedom to be christmassy themselves. This is the sort of shit our forebears fought and died for, man. Fucking Cromwell.

You big grinch.

I'd love a tiny plastic reindeer that shat chocolate for 2 months.

And Cliff Richard.

So?

When you're going to an awesome concert, or you've got tickets to see an awesome film, or a new awesome game is coming out, or you've got a birthday coming up, don't you get excited about it or even discuss it beforehand? People on here talk about and preorder games months before they come out - how is that different? Or do I just miss people going "for god's sake, save it for release day would you".

I find it amusing that 70% of all the mentions of Christmas in this thread are from people complaining that we shouldn't be talking about it.

I mentioned Christmas once, but I think I got away with it.

The other thing is that my birthday's in December, so that's too much awesome in one month to not get in the mood beforehand. In one month you have the celebration of (i) the birth of the saviour of mankind, AND (ii) some hippy Jewish guy who likes Coke.

I'm having a dry Christmas day this year. Compared to last year whe it was just MrsA and me, and we were on the second bottle of champagne by quite before noon, spilling goose fat on the floor at 1pm, and watching Dr Who later on that evening in that comfortably drunk state you get in a warm house, when there's only two of you and you've got a metric fuckton more booze to get through.

I've seen quite a few people posting it on other forums - however the fingers were initially being pointed at the EA servers

Theres something going on but its unlikely its actualy xbla thats hacked its something else connected (or simply someone hitting XBLA with all the username/password combos' from the various other hacks that have gone on like they did to the PSN a month or so ago)

That sounds a heck of a lot more fun than a dry christmas, you big boob. Or did you get too drunk and piss off MrsA when you tried to do something ill advised with the turkey, and she's banned you from booze this year?

Because I can avoid pre-emptive chatter about games I don't care about by not going in the threads. Christmas is EVERYWHERE.

We had goose*, and we're with her family this year, so one one has to behave.

*I went into the shop and said "Do you have any goose left for sale" and the man said "Yes, two" so I said "I'll have the larger one", and thought nothing more of it, until I went to pick it up. It was massive, wouldn't fit in the oven terribly well, nor a dish, and we ate it for the next 10 days. it was EPIC.

September the 2nd sucks. You got all your toys after the holidays, and to cap it off schools generally go back on the 3rd so your birthday parties are a week late. You also have the certain knowledge that you were conceived by drunk people on new year's eve.

Do you Christmas cards with '+ Happy Birthday' written in them, too? I do sometimes, but usually people forget or can't be bothered. Oh well, forget them, I'm going to have an acebest birthday anyway :D

Late December birthdays DO actually make a difference, especially as a kid in a family and you're the only person who has your presents 'combined', so it's overlooked, but I really can't see the problem with a September 2nd birthday. The fun if running around outside all holiday and then more fun to return to when you go back to school because you have new things to play with :P

And you tend not to have parties when a kid or even go out for your birthday as an adult because everyone is at Christmas dos.

It does seem to be - xbox like giving a high number and 'normally' getting it done beforehand - however i've seen posts on other forums waiting that long (average seems to be a little over 2 weeks)

My birthday is just before January payday at the time of year when most people haven't been paid for about six weeks and everyone is skint but I don't care because I'm excited about Christmas and I usually just have a party in my house for my birthday so we can still celebrate it :)
I can't wait for Christmas day this year, its the Christmas day I was meant to have two years ago before stuff happened but this time its going to be perfect :)

On the other hand, there's a heap of reseach showing that people with September birthdays are more successful academically, in sport and in life than people born in August.

I don't know that mine will be perfect, but as long as I feel happy and warm I don't care. It won't be full of stuff, but I want it to be pretty and with a little magic.

Yep :) Jen has been nipping my head for most of the year about getting a real Christmas tree and how pretty it will look in front of the window :)

That's what's making this one so perfect. Through in Fife on the Wednesday before, where we will spend Christmas with Jens family until boxing day. My time will be filled watching tv, playing board games with the family and their friends who drop in, eating food, drinking nice drinks and walking the dogs while all wrapped up in hat and scarf and gloves and wellies. Just the thought of it makes me so happy I could burst and makes two years ago feel like two million years ago.

When will you be in Glasgow GJ, anytime that I'm around or is it while we're east?

We're doing dinner this year and we are having Mrs Z's folks round. Looking forward mostly to spending time off with the kids and meeting up with our mates. I don't even want anything that expensive this year. :)
