I don't want them to the tune of 7 dollars. If I can't legally get them free, I'm going without - partially because picking up old games that you haven't played before is an uncertain gamble, both in terms of whether you'll actually enjoy them and whether they'll work. I'd rather save the monies and buy cheapy second hand 360 games.

But that's what sites like GOG are for. There are plenty of reviews on there and they make sure they'll work on your computer. Plus seven dollars is nothing to a high-flying lawyer type like yourself. ;)

Abandonware isn't legal though.

True, yes. I'd alluded to it earlier with the "not getting chased by the ESA or whoever", though. whilst it isn't technically legal, noone's going to have a pop at you for it.

Devilman - good point! I'll have a rummage. That said, I'm not sure they're worth 7 dollars a pop when you can get slightly later vintage PC games at CEX or wherever for 50p.

Please be aware that if you are the second person awarding bananas to the same post, you need to be in a "Second opinion" boxout.

Turns out, on Friday, the filth went around most of the pubs in Bicester with sniffer dogs and stuff. I'm not completely sure how I would feel if I were to be in a pub, then get sniffer dog'd. From what I gather, Boone was allowed to leave whilst this went on. At which point I suspect Nr Chris's wise words on the subject might have come out if my mouth. No doubt, ending up in the back of the van, charged with a public order offence so beloved of the police.

Also watching Full Metal Jacket. Having physically been to Canary Wharf - and thus in the space depicted by Kubrick - I feel like I have indeed been 'there', and thus can readily understand the complex themes and emotional trauma of the marines depicted in the film. I shall be sure to point this out to any veterans I meet on my next America trip, should they challenge my understanding of the conflict through my absence.

More along the lines of not letting a whole pub full of people leave. I can't recall PACE, to be honest.

Er. We watched Full Metal Jacket at the weekend too. Took the shrinkwrap off the BluRay I bought about 11 months ago.

Why did we all decide to watch it this weekend?

We both have the Mickey Mouse Club theme stuck in our heads, which presumably was the intent.

Also Jayne was in Full Metal Jacket. Huh.

My favourite baguette shop has reopened after its refurbishment and whilst it looks far better than it used to, they've changed their menu and removed the 'Mexican chicken' option I've always had for the last five years or so. It might take me a while to find a new favourite, but I was quite pleased with the 'chicken tikka' I eventually went for.
