So, to summarise, six months notice wasn't enough notice for Chris to attend a meet?

Well, technically I don't, until Friday. And if this snow carries on, a floor is all it'll have, because I don't fancy (un)loading one icy paths, and my dad won't be much fancying trundling back and forth on snowy roads in a work van.

Still, there're six weeks in between. It can't snow for six weeks, right?

I bagsied a space at Albinokid's place back in October (see literature thread), but that (understandably) appears to have been overlooked as it was in entirely the wrong thread, and I didn't realise 2 months wasn't enough notice to book into a hotel. In Manchester.

Sometimes you do all you can do, but it's not enough.

Ho hum.

Are you getting to London okay, Doc?

Craster tells me no, not at either of them, as he checked for me last week.

I think they have more than two hotels in Manchester though. If only the development of the electric telegraph hadn't been so impeded, it might be possible even to book a room using it. It would be perfect for this sort of thing.

You may have missed the post where I said I didn't want to end up in a random, much more expensive hotel all on my own. :(

I'm wondering how long I can pretend to have missed Bik's post to wind him up before it gets to the point where he says "no" when I ask to stay at his place.

Mr Dave keeps on dropping big hints that he wants some action "OH NOES I HAVE BOOKED A DOUBLE ROOM BY ACCIDENT REALLY, you'll be fine. Just work it like I showed you, and the bed space will be yours.

Yes. "Dream" that a massive python is rearing up beside you, and try to smother it with the bedclothes.

Premier Inns seem to hate you only booking Saturday nights, but they are showing available if you want to book friday and saturday, I don't know if you'll get a different response over the phone (past experience says no if you talk to the automated reservation system, but YMMV if you get to talk to a real person).

Having said that, I still have no idea if GJ and I are attending, so we may (or may not) have to book a hotel somewhere as well.

I can only come up for the one night.

Ibis City Centre and Charles Street are both saying "Nuh Uh" to Saturday as well.

Get one other An Beexer to go, and it will qualify as a meet in the category of "meets that are successfully arranged and take place within the announcement period of the One True Meet". Which is a thing.

Well, if anyone else wants to travel to Liverpool to help me bundle my belongings into a van they're more than welcome. Or out at the Manchester end.

Cor, that'd be two meets in one day. Technically four, if people stuck around for the second run.

It's not quite Toxteth. Lived round here for 4 years in various places and not personally had any trouble though.

Right-o, chaps and chapettes.

We're booked in for 8.30pm - are we just meeting there at that time? I doubt I can get there earlier, as my train doesn't get in to Manchester until about 8pm. Luckily the hotel and the restaurant are not a million miles from each other, so I shouldn't be (too) late!

Should be fun (and far classier than the other rabble)!

I'm currently unsure of my arrival time; it all depends on traffic, the drive up, and whether my car passes the MOT on Friday morning (!). It'll probably be mid-afternoon though.

I think we all have each other's mobile numbers (I certainly have both Curio's and Craster's), so I suggest we play it by ear, and can meet for a drink beforehand if the stars align. If they don't, I'll see you at the place at 8:30.

I was going to say meet in the hotel lobby as we're all in the same one, but not if you're going to be Johnny-come-lately. Meet there at 8:30 it is then.

Heh. Good job Ive not had anything but bulbs recently then!

Edit: Er, this has probably gone ever-so-slightly off-topic, hasnt it? Also WHY HAS MY APOSTROPHE KEY RANDOMLY STOPPED WORKING AGAIN?! Its not the keyboard, neither the laptop nor this external one work. Only the apostrophe key. Last time, it started working again a few hours later.
