Inglourious Basterds is a film I watched in HD recently. I was massively impressed with the way it was made. I wasn't so impressed with the film as a whole. It could have been really good if it wasn't for the excessively quirky bits.

It was a better made film than Pulp Fiction but not as interesting. Jackie Brown is supposedly the highlight according to Mark Kermode. It's been too long since I've seen it but I recall it being a tad disappointing. I was a little upset at Bridget Fonda being slutty, which presumably wouldn't be a problem for anyone else here..

Just back from seeing Avatar in 3D. I understand now what Dimrill means when he says he loves a game which pulls him in so real life is forgotten while it's on. Avatar did that for me and I loved it. The 3D wasn't really a huge part of it, it just made me more immersed and all it really added was the subtle differences in depth. Except at one or two moments when suddenly things were floating in front of the screen which fitted in perfectly with the feelings being experienced on screen. The world they created was gorgeous and made me happy. I think if you go to see it thinking you are going to see a major cinematic event then you may leave dissapointed but I went to see it in the neutral and numb mood I've been living with recently and was sucked into a wonderful film without even noticing. I loved it.

I also must agree with Kermode with regards Jackie Brown. Easily Tarantino's best. Inglorious is definitely in the top 3 though, with Pulp Fiction.

Does True Romance count as a Tarrantino movie? He wrote the script.. I need to watch Jackie Brown again to decide what I think. I liked it enough to buy the video back in the day. Currently my top 3 would go: Pulp Fiction True Romance Kill Bill Part 2 But if I can't have True Romance.. I'll go for Jackie Brown anyway.

After seeing some of the early trailers i tracked down the comic books (which still have not 'finished' yet) and the story is just brilliant as well. Just saw Avatar 3D at imax. What a load of bollocks. Utter bollocks. Very disappointed, I was expecting it to be pointless pretties, but it wasn't even that pretty.

So I watched this the other night, only on BETEO would I be recommended a film that requires the viewer to refer to a fucking enormous flowchart to have any chance of understanding what the fuck is going on. I enjoyed it, though.

Despite the sound and picture quality being awful (Vue at Cheshire Oaks can suck my balls if they think they're getting my money again) it was reasonably enjoyable. RDJ mumbling through the first half hour was hard work, and there were no surprises in terms of plot or character turns, but it was a diverting romp nonetheless. Extra points for filming scenes in the dilapidated dock area of Liverpool, thereby reminding me that the urban decay that surrounds me is vintage decay.

When trying the upscaling capabilities of my new Blu Ray player (have I mentioned that yet?) I whacked the Tron DVD in and decided to sit and watch it. I used to love that film and bought the DVD a few years back. Never bothered to watch it since getting the DVD though. There's no plot! None! The villain (well, the 3 villians) does nothing of any consequence. The brief epilogue is frustrating and the technobabble is frankly laughable. But, bugger me if it still doesn't look lovely.

I also watched Primer after you guys were talking about it and I really enjoyed, even though I also have no idea what on Earth happened. I was hoping to sneak in a second viewing last night, but Lady Z decided she wanted to watch Pirates Of The Caribbean: At Worlds End instead. 2 hours 45 minutes later and I'm convinced that of the two movies, Primer has the easier to follow plot.
