Yeah - it's a full size Landy. It's remote control in that he just shouts directions at Butler.

Incidentally, the Tamiya USA website is flogging off a load of RC cars at supid discounts - $90 rather than $250, sort of thing.

Also half price tanks.

Hmm, maybe. I've got some nice hop-ups on mine, though (although I guess I could just take them off and put them on the new one). I'm going to investigate prices on eBay now, though...

Nope, none second hand - although they've gone down to £160 new, which is a bit or a barg.
I'd be wary of buying a second-hand one in case the engine's been thrashed, but again I suppose I could just take the engine off mine.

Partly. They made a bad situation worse. In a "who is a bigger cunt" competition, Derek Hatton has to run Thatcher pretty close.

Cheekily-FTFY. You make a good point on Hatton though.

I'm admittedly biased because I'm from a part of the Black Country which was similarly abused in the early 80s. I'd say there's probably a bit of militance in me, for that.

Cafe Zeus Special: Cheese Burger with Fries covered with Chicken Tikka pieces smothered in Chili Sauce and Mayonnaise. All washed down with a can of coke. OMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMZOMG!

So dirty, but so tasty. Just like me. x

I'm of the opinion that many of Thatcher's actions curbing the excesses of the unions in the early 80s were right and necessary. (Beyond say, 1983, when she went fucking mental is a entirely different matter.) I also think that the actions of the unions and Militant gave her the perfect excuse and managed to make it justifiable in the eyes of a fed-up public.

Looking back on it, Militant were just as guilty of playing politics as Thatcher ever was. Probably more as they didn't give a shit about the people of Liverpool, they just wanted a fight. And thanks to the utter cuntiness of Derek Hatton et al, you can draw a direct line to the vapid politics of New Labour and Tony Blair.

I think it is scarier to live under Militant than Thatcher. A Thatcherite will screw you over if there was money in it. Militant would screw you over just because they can.

I agree that it needed doing, that the unions had too much power; I'm not particularly keen on unions, and you only have to look at the history of the Teamsters in the US to see how abuse of power can and will happen.

Quote:
managed to make it justifiable in the eyes of a fed-up public.

However, I don't agree at all that her actions were correct in the sense that the legacy of this continues to be keenly felt, and simultaneously dismissed as being 'justified'. To use a really extreme example: the fed-up, impoverished Germans were glad that those uppity Jews were being kept in line at last. The majority agreed that it was the right thing to do, and they certainly weren't right. The same principle applies here.

Quote:

I can't really comment on which would be worse; but I am of the opinion that if you are going to be under the thumb of a crazed dictator, it's better if they're motivated by simple ambitions of power, success and wealth. Anything more profound (such as Marxist doctrine as a governing force) and it's only going to end in tears.

It doesn't stop me from holding a deep personal loathing for the woman herself, however...

STOP MESSING WITH THE BANANA RATING SYSTEM!!!!!!!!!

What's the point of having a standard if we all fuck with it, eh?

I mean, we all know the system translates to the old ACE system out of 1000 don't we?

Have you tried X-Fire (or Crossfire or whatever it's called)? It's a chat client for games - that might have voice support.

Fuck the fuck off with your "ooooh, I've got my xbox, ladieda," bullshit, mine is stuck in limbo, nothing has happened to it today for some reason. If it isn't delivered to work tomorrow, then I won't get it until Monday.

YES!!! By God, Yes!

I haven't played for 4(?) weeks now. I can feel my fingers losing their 360 controller shape. Granted this does have the advantage of being able to hold a pen without crippling agony, but come on!!

If it's any consolation, Curiosity has absolutely walloped your rank in the intervening time. I hope that helps.

Just had the misfortune of catching some of The One Show, BUT! It had David Duchovny on who was acely surreal and amusing. To every crap, "do you believe in aliens" blather questions and amid their annoyingly smug playing of Mark Snow theme tune Duchovny simply replied, "the short answer is no," in a deadpan David Lynch sort of way. For each question. It was ace. Even though I was trying to eat my own face off to distract from the smug, pally, hyperactive presenters.
