Soon find out!
I'm looking forward to finding out the result. I'm not looking forward to the unending coverage of fuck all, all day tomorrow!
They need to make the whole thing electronic so we can see live updates.
And let me make it so that i can make some money.
How about another sweepstake on the event of a no vote?

First riot, Friday night, Inverness.

Pfft, Friday morning in Dundee.
I wanted to put some McGonagall on the subtitle but the character limit was too small. But whilst looking through his works, I came across one for BeeX: there's a whale in the Thames Tay:

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Found on 'Mcgonagall Online

Quote:
’TWAS in the month of December, and in the year 1883,
That a monster whale came to Dundee,
Resolved for a few days to sport and play,
And devour the small fishes in the silvery Tay.

So the monster whale did sport and play
Among the innocent little fishes in the beautiful Tay,
Until he was seen by some men one day,
And they resolved to catch him without delay.

When it came to be known a whale was seen in the Tay,
Some men began to talk and to say,
We must try and catch this monster of a whale,
So come on, brave boys, and never say fail.

Then the people together in crowds did run,
Resolved to capture the whale and to have some fun!
So small boats were launched on the silvery Tay,
While the monster of the deep did sport and play.

Oh! it was a most fearful and beautiful sight,
To see it lashing the water with its tail all its might,
And making the water ascend like a shower of hail,
With one lash of its ugly and mighty tail.

Then the water did descend on the men in the boats,
Which wet their trousers and also their coats;
But it only made them the more determined to catch the whale,
But the whale shook at them his tail.

Then the whale began to puff and to blow,
While the men and the boats after him did go,
Armed well with harpoons for the fray,
Which they fired at him without dismay.

And they laughed and grinned just like wild baboons,
While they fired at him their sharp harpoons:
But when struck with, the harpoons he dived below,
Which filled his pursuers’ hearts with woe.

Because they guessed they had lost a prize,
Which caused the tears to well up in their eyes;
And in that their anticipations were only right,
Because he sped on to Stonehaven with all his might:

And was first seen by the crew of a Gourdon fishing boat
Which they thought was a big coble upturned afloat;
But when they drew near they saw it was a whale,
So they resolved to tow it ashore without fail.

So they got a rope from each boat tied round his tail,
And landed their burden at Stonehaven without fail;
And when the people saw it their voices they did raise,
Declaring that the brave fishermen deserved great praise.

And my opinion is that God sent the whale in time of need,
No matter what other people may think or what is their creed;
I know fishermen in general are often very poor,
And God in His goodness sent it drive poverty from their door.

So Mr John Wood has bought it for two hundred and twenty-six pound,
And has brought it to Dundee all safe and all sound;
Which measures 40 feet in length from the snout to the tail,
So I advise the people far and near to see it without fail.

Then hurrah! for the mighty monster whale,
Which has got 17 feet 4 inches from tip to tip of a tail!
Which can be seen for a sixpence or a shilling,
That is to say, if the people all are willing.

Good luck Scotland.
I wish you all much wisdom in the coming days, my friends, and hope the uk will stay sort of calm..

even though i would say- quotinge De Gaule.. Vive L'Écosse Libre...

De Gaulle was a bit of a cock, mind.
You're quite right.. One of the most overestimated things in world history is the french contribution to the end of world war ii...
I had an arousing dream last night involving Alex Salmond's intoxicating quadruple chin. Nicola Sturgeon came to me too, but instead of being a mannish fud, she was somehow a stunning Page 3 model with corking norks. When I awoke this morning all of the arguments for YES suddenly made sense.

It was all possible! Pies, boobs, free money, the streets awash with oil and socialist righteousness! Prosperity and Ferraris for all! We can do it!

And yet I somehow managed to resist. Viva la UK, bitches.

I never said it was my photo ;)
I was in Ladbrokes today

Odds for the referendum were as follows

Yes 7\2

No 1\5

So for a £20 bet you would make £70 if its Yes and £4 if its no

These odds don't make me thing its a close run thing.
This was the first post in this thread, written back in February 2010:

Just reading about the SNP's proposals for a referendum. Do people, especially us English folk, care about the Union or should the various parts go their seperate ways?

My instinctive reaction has always been that if the Scots want to leave, we should bid them a fond farewell (and ensure we get to keep the nuclear bomb), but I've never really thought about it too deeply. Does the break up of the UK matter? Or is the Union forever?

Reading back, it is fascinating how I have begun to seriously think about something that in the past was never an issue, and to consider my own sense of national identity in a way I have never done so before. I get the feeling that I am not alone in this.

Whilst 'No' is obviously more probably given the polling data, bookies do not always price odds entirely in relation to the probability of an event occurring.

They think 'No' will happen, but due to the volume of bets on 'No', the bookies on the whole stand to lose a packet. Bookies do not like losing money, so they want more money placed on 'Yes'. This hedges their loss, which they need, so they offer really good odds to get punters to join in.

So they're playing the market and not the odds.

But yeah, 'Yes' does look unlikely.
If it's a no, I guess the Scots won't hate us English folk as much as some of them seem to.

And that will make me glad.

I think the Yessers will hate us even *more*, surely?
Just been to cast my vote. Very civilized. I don't hate you.

Sadly I think whatever the result one side won't be happy so there may be trouble over the weekend

Still a good riot (in possibly a foreign land) is always entertaining to watch :p

I hate you all, but it's nothing to do with the referendum.
I think if it's a no we need a referendum in "rUK" to see if Scotland should be sold to France.
Shamelessly stolen from elsewhere

Some ugly scenes currently occurring in Scotland not too dissimilar to the night of the long knives.

Reports of being people beaten to the ground. No voters dragged out of buildings. Spat at. Union Jacks burnt.

70 years after defeating the German Nationalists, the scourge of hate-filled Nationalism is running rampant on British soil.

Love how the flag has absolutely no damage to it.
Well, it looks ripped, but the fire seems to be doing nothing.

Very fancy 'Else' for just graffiti.

You don't actually believe this crap, do you Bobby?

Looking online, the ONLY thing that has been reported is a stupid guy in Clydebank.

Is it that hard to believe that when a massive national debate gets so polarised, so us and them, using words like "traitor", that the shittier nationalist elements of society wouldn't jump on that to act like cunts? I'd freely admit I'd expect exactly the same sort of thing to happen in England, Wales or Northern Ireland under similar circumstances.

Except melting it.

It's a genuine photo, but it's a genuine photo from 2012.

That one does appear to be legit: Source 1 Source 2 Source 3

Scots in "not doing any research" shocker ;)
No one is allowed to report anything that could potentially affect the vote. So if there are currently mass riots, or no riots, you'll find no news source reporting it. If anything has happened, it will be in the news at ten, possibly.

Shush you.
Those glasses didn't stop you putting the X in the box you wanted, right (assuming you voted)?

I DID say it was a bad excuse.
Really I just wanted to find out if you voted.

Ah, well. Yes.
It was exciting! I voted!

Does anyone know what the final total on the Yes Declaration was? I can't find it online anywhere.
Pretty sure that flag pic is from Iran anyway.

Looks like the road has a yellow line in the centre, so it's unlikely to be from the UK.
Over 90% turnout, I hope that makes the current crop of politicians feel some shame next time they accuse the general populace of being idle and uncaring at the next abysmal turnout in a general election.

Turns out people do give a shit when they feel like it actually makes a difference.
Live results here:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/events/scotla ... es/results

(First update is reckoned to be at 2am)
YouGov have put exit polls at 54% for "No", apparently.
This is clearly just a 'go to bed and find out in the morning' sort of deal.

I remember trying to stay awake for a general election result once and having to just give up and go to bed in the end anyway. (Think it might have been when Blair first got into power.) I may have tried one when I was doing my A levels too, since one of them was Politics and I felt duty-bound to make an effort.
I'd like to stay up, but work tomorrow.
3 hours of nothing has just started on the BBC.

Fuck me, but that started weeks ago.

I'm genuinely past caring now, thanks to the saturation coverage.
Grim... wrote:

That's not an exit poll.

I thought you were the polling guy!
I'm not entirely sure that Jeremy Vine should have just said 'Lower social grades vote yes'

But I still chuckled.
