I hope they’ve bought that little hand bell I told them I’d need when I get home.

I was moved from my single room to a four bed ward yesterday evening and had a very good night’s sleep, because I’m further away from those beeping monitors and I can’t hear the clock ticking. I was also the only occupant.

I slept for a while, then woke, needing the bathroom, at around 1am. As I walked out of the ward I was aware of what looked like a body in the opposite corner bed, entirely covered, and apparently not breathing. I came back to bed and settled down, but wasn’t sure if I could hear some noise coming from the other occupied bed. I remember hearing the gasses escape from dead bodies for quite some time after death, so wondered if it actually was a body awaiting collection.

I woke this morning needing the loo and noticed that there was still a covered body in the bed, but in a different position!!

When I came back, the top of the covers were drawn back and indeed there was a living being there, fast asleep.

The breakfast truck arrived, the auxiliary woke him up, and he hasn’t stopped natterring ever since. He collapsed in the street yesterday, something he does regularly since his infected pacemaker was removed.

He’s running the staff ragged. Obviously used to spending time in hospital. His first question was where he could go for a cig.
Several meetings with medical people today, initial prescriptions issued and now I'm home.

Great news!
Details up for tonight.
Joans is arguing with the internet, bear with.
Sorry I was not on last nigt.. My body clock seems to wake me up at 4am every day, which means I am struggling stopping up past 9pm :(
It was great to see you all again last night and especially Warhead, you were looking remarkable!

We missed you though Kov... Last night's score keepers weren't a patch on you. They messed up so badly they even thought I came second to last!
Yes, was good to see you Warhead.

Still amused by someone not quite getting the "answer will be a Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John" rule in my round, although in fairness I should have said there were no trick questions. :)
Hah, if that was me, I was only joking about putting down Paul McCartney ;)
Hi everyone,

Tonight's details are in the usual place. Afraid I can't make it tonight but have fun nonetheless.

I am going to try and attend, but I am struggling to keep awake :(
A smidge late, but I won't make it last night - nowhere really convenient to do it where I am at the mo.

I'm an hour ahead, so at 6 our time I figured I had ages to decide, then just before 8 I figured I would announce my non-participation, realised I actually had another hour to faff with and forgot all about it.
Details up.
I'll be on at 8 tonight. Perhaps you will too?

Sorry I didn't make it last night... Time got the better of me in the end as I have loads of work to be getting on with.
If doing a question about the number of acting roles a person has had, would you include the following:

1) uncredited roles?
2) cameos?
3) straight to video?
4) TV movies?

I am inclined to exclude 1, 3 and 4, but keep 2?

Thoughts?
Listed on iMDb wiuld be my metric
Yeah, listings on iMDb would be a better way of doing it IMO.

I couldn't see an easy way of separating TV from films.

If there was a way of doing that, it would be ace, because they actually give you a count, rather than wikipedia just listing them in a table.
Details up.
See you all tonight!

Not game footage
It's unlikely I'll be on tonight I'm afraid... I still feel rubbish.

I hope you're starting to feel better now?
Today's treasure truck might be of interest to quizzers.

I have something like that i use for work and they are brilliant
I have one of them (in fact I KickStarted them) and they are indeed brilliant, and those pens are lovely.
Frixion pens are great, and people that sew use them a lot for pattern marking, as once the garment is ironed the marks disappear, BUT they have a bit drawback in this regard as if the garment then gets cold again (on an icy day) all the marks reappear :D

Quite a few people have fallen foul of this.
I too Kickstarted it and used it a bit, but never really found a workflow that wasn't a bit too much faff to be bothered with. So I just took notes like a normal notebook.
Yep, let's do it all again tonight.

Details where you least expect them.

At least someone's taking the mask mandate seriously.
It's likely I won't be quizzing tonight - got a deadline this week that I'm nowhere near reaching (thanks covid) so need to work :'(
I'll probably also give it a miss, unfortunately - I was out very late last night and I'm bloody knackered.

Aww, it won't be the same without you both, but hopefully you can be around next week and in a place to enjoy it more. :)
Argh!

Who is going to keep score?

Oh no! I read Kovacs post as being out late, not not coming to the quiz! :blown:
I was on a date with Gaz, and we did not get back late.... :(
Morning everyone!

Tonight's details are in the usual place.

I might not be on tonight but everything should work fine without me.

Sorry I missed you all last night but I got a little caught up in a few things with the kids.
Sorry I missed last night :(

:DD wasn't far off.

So I just put Malc's European Countries round to sprog #2, and he got a score of 82, which (I checked the spreadsheet) was more than any of us adults. :blown:

This was a lo-fi one, done in notepad++

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Whirlwind Round: European Countries

A Whirlwind round is one where there is 1 answer for question 1, 2 answers for question 2, 3 for question 3 and so on.

This round is on Europe, all answers will be countries in Europe (one of the questions I will accept capital cities too)

I am mostly defining "in Europe" as having some part of your country geographically in Europe (Cyprus and Armenia fail that test, as they are in Asia). I will make it clear when that is not the definition I am using.

I am defining Countries as soverign states recognised by at least 100 members of the UN

I think that's everything, oh, wait, there is one more thing. There are 11 questions. Questions 1-10 have 1-10 answers, The Bonus Question, however, has 51 answers (I wonder what that question will be!)

This quiz round is out of 106, perhaps we will divide the scores at the end by 10.

V

Bonus Question: Name all 51 sovereign states with territory located within the common definition of Europe and/or membership in international European organisations that are recognised by over 100 UN Member states (so this includes the nations I excluded before that were technically in Asia)

1) Country that Takes up the most space in Europe

2) Countries connected by the Øresund Bridge

3) Countries that are part of the Benelux Union

4) European capital Cities that are on the Danube (you can give me either 4 Capital Cities, or 4 Countries, but not a mix)

5) European Countries with a Scandanavian Cross in their flag

6) The Original six countries that formed the European Economic Community in 1957

7) European countries that have at least one city with a popluation of 5,000,000 or more (according to the City Population Urban Agglomeration in 2020)

8) European countries that have hosted the Men's FIFA World Cup Finals

9) European countries that have part of their Offical landmass in another continent (This excludes Cyprus and Armenia as although they are considered European politcally/culturally, they are geographically in Asia. This also excludes the UK, as their Overseas Territories are not considered part of the UK, other countries DO include theirs and are in this list)

10) European countries that do not have any red in their flag (not including Cyprus as it's still technically Asia)

This round was my downfall. It's possible that I initially was thinking only of countries in the EEC, which is not the same as Europe at all. Eejit!
