Yeah, the way the Saw movies are part of a complex continuing plot is just fucking weird. I can never remember what happened at the beginning of the movie when I'm twenty minutes in, so how am I going to remember the plot from one year to the next?

It doesn't help that I've not actually seen one of them, but I don't know which one. It's either the second or third one, I think, but I'm not sure.

AND! Two of the main recurring characters look pretty much exactly the same, which really doesn't help matters. In the last movie (or last but one, I forget) one of them got wounded near the beginning, at least, so I could tell them apart by looking for a bandage.

Caught before climax?

Oh hush. I enjoyed the first two so it was a reasonable bet the third should be ok. But it wasn't. No real plot (even by RE standards, I mean), and no real budget, either, if the sets and effects were anything to go by.



There could never have been a climax.

Annoyingly they didn't have Outpost, so I'm ordering it off Amazon Marketplace.

I liked RE: Extinction at the time, but can barely remember anything about it.

The people who make Saw have said that it will stop at 7.

I watched Saw 6 last night, and thought it was pretty good. The plot continues well. The whole 'which character am I looking at because they look the same' problem is gone, and there's a lot of people involved in the game.

I do not know how they will carry on for a 7th though.

I saw The Fantastic Mr Fox last night, and thought that it was indeed Fantastic.

Funniest Wes Anderson film since Life Aquatic, with the same dysfunctional family issues and idiosyncratic 'different' characters, but with extra warmth and humour for the all. The sight gags are excellent, the design luscious and the entire thing quite charming. Everything was hand-animated and quite beautiful and old skool, even the explosions were cotton wool. The actions sequences often looked like ace lo-fi platform games! All the usual excellent voices as well, including Bill Murray.

Lots of good quoting material too. I hugely enjoyed it, and the 'Where the Wild Things Are' trailer. If you hate Wes films, I still reckon there's a chance you'd like this. I'm sure there were a couple of Oliver Postgate references too.

The saw series would have been alot better without there trying ot be a plot I think. everyone wacthes it for the traps anyway.

All they needed to do was have the main villian bloke, the doll, traps, people in the traps, lots of blood and gore, some police and every one of them should have ended in some ludicrous esape by the main villain. But now you need to watch all the previous ones because you can never remember anything from them because all the characters are featureless boring cretins.
Says alot when the two most recogniseable characters are a doll and a guy thats been dead for 3 films.

Though they can always do side-quals.

I really should actually watch the Saw movies. I've seen the first, but it was such a long time ago I forget what happens in it. I've somehow been equating it in my mind with the Hostel movies and have such avoided them since I'm not really a fan of these torture-porn things.

It looks to be everything you've ever hoped.

Seriously, go see Mr Fox. You get the trailer (and two terrible ones, sorry - the Michael Jackson film and Alvin & the Chipmunks two - Christsakes) and one deeply charming film.

For some reason I read that as "Funniest Wes Craven film....", which would have been odd.

This is what I thought they'd do, and it'd be a lot less work. Somewhere around Saw III when they started messing around with the chronology it sunk in that they'd gone totally the other way and just ladelled as much plot as possible onto the thing.

Glad I'm not the only one who can't tell which character is which though.

Saw 'The Mist' last night. Didn't think much of it in the main, but I have a major chubby on for grim-as-fuck endings, so I was rather impressed with that.

I frankly found that film almost unbearably tense, frightening and chilling - and was fully expecting the cruel ending to come loping along. One of the best horror movies I've ever seen, certainly the scariest 'invasion' movie.

Anyone seen Mr Fox yet then? Eh? EH?

I watched Quarantine yesterday. I wanted a scary movie for the weekend, heard about [REC] and thought, balls to it, if it's shot for shot, I'd rather not read the subtitles, ta.

Nice and tense and atmospheric, until the little girl starts waving her arms around, that is.

I finally watched Wall-E yesterday. Absolutely fantastic. Loved it.

Especially his Mac start up chime when he's recharged

Well, it wouldn't, I just think it might ruin the setting. I suppose don't want to know what happens "afterwards", as the story was quite perfect by itself.

I refuse to watch that, regardless of how good anybody says it is. It was one of my favourite childhood books, and I shan't taint my memories.

Pete has the truth of it. The Mist is fucking sensational. Re-watched it in black and white a few weeks ago and it's almost a different film, with a weird Fifties monster-movie aesthetic.
