Aw, what a shame :( At least you found it and were able to rescue it in time.

I got my hedgehogs from a rescue place, which had dozens "in stock". So don't worry if it has to go somewhere like that over the winter, they are well looked after and ready to go again in the spring.

Anyway, shall hope for the best.

Ouch Lewie, hopefully as I'm nearly 38 I'll never need that doing.

Hedgehog Update!

Mother hedgehog returned last night, presumably looking for the missing youngster however she didn't go inside the nest box where it was curled up. She was on her way out of the garden again so I was a bit worried that she might just have decided it was gone. Unsure if it was the right thing to do I decided to intervene. I picked her up and gently placed her inside the nest box. A few minutes later they both came out together, ate up all the food I left out and I haven't seen them since. So I hope they've found a nice place to go and live, even if I'm a bit sad that it isn't in our garden. :)

About 5 hours ago I was sitting in my ex's front room whilst my 2-year-old daughter sat on the potty telling me about the enormous poo she was knocking out.

Every now and then we'd ask if she was done yet.

"Not yet daddy! I'm doing a really big poo!"

Oh, she's definitely my daughter alright! :)

£190ish Max isn't it? I had my neglected nashers refurbished for that much earlier this year.

How much for the flight?

£204 max for the NHS now, plus you need to find a dentist that accepts NHS clients, and you have to live in the catchment area...

Yes NASA that is slightly unfortunate.

That's very badly written.

Quote:
Experts say there is a one-in-3,200 risk of the space junk, which weighs six tons, hitting someone.

Zomg! Something weighing six tons is going to impact the earth, possibly where I live!!!

Quote:
Debris is expected to scatter across a 500-mile area, with the biggest chunk weighing 300lb, the weight of a large refrigerator.

Oh. Right. So not six tons then.

Mind you, wouldn't want a fridge landing on my head. Especially one the size of Grim...'s balls.

I love the, there is a 1 in 3200 chance of hitting someone, but you will only get 20 minutes warning! I just picture the Austin Powers' scene with the steam roller, "Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!"

In Teeth Nay news, I can confirm it is £204 for treatment. :(

Balls. The Girl has a nightmare teacher this year. This woman used to be the oldest year's teacher until two years ago and can't hack 7 year olds so she shouts and screams at them, we even saw it for ourselves as she was late bringing the children in from PE and yelled at a little girl to get back in line. Scared the shit out of the 20 parents watching, god knows how it would be like if you were 7. Friend of mine, who herself is a primary supply teacher, had nothing but trouble all last year with her son and is saying she will pull her daughter out of school if she's still there.

Last Monday The Girl faked a tummy bug to get out of going, on the Tuesday morning we had a chat and she started crying and saying that she didn't want to go to school as she would be shouted at. I took her to the head teacher and we told her what she had said and why, I was so proud of my little girl as I watched her stare up and quote the school's anti-bullying motto at the head, head said that they had had a talk with the teacher and this wouldn't happen again, the girl went "you talked to her on monday?", head looked stunned and said she would have another chat.

Now this brings us up to half an hour ago, the girl has lost her rubber and is shit scared of going in and telling the teacher because she's afraid of her. I'm told another child in her class who normally loves school was brought in crying saying he didn't want to go this morning. I've said I'll go in and tell the teacher about the rubber and the girl went back to bed slightly less frightened.

jesuschrist what kind of teacher makes 7 year old children cry and lose sleep over a fucking rubber. Only thing that can be done is that if we still get upset children when the governor elections are over then a group of us need to go in and bring it up in a meeting, up until then there is no next step other than pulling our children out of school.

Oh and to top it off The Girl loses 10 mins of lunch every god damn day because of this ADD kid. Last year she was put next to ADD kid and he was a nightmare - as an example he smashed the classroom up twice and the other children had to be moved out of there. I went to this new teacher and said I knew they were putting them together because The Girl can handle her brother but that it wasn't happening again, she does not sit on the same table as ADD kid this year as she does not need to deal with this 24/7. So back to the 10 mins thing, she has to sit in and play with him in the classroom every day while his special assistant goes to get her lunch, fair enough the woman needs to eat but as teacher friend said "is she being paid for this and why can't the class teacher stay behind?"

The class teacher that is going to shout at a 7 year old child who misses 50 mins of lunch time a week without complaint for losing a rubber.

What happened next: The Girl made me go in, I spoke to a TA and she ran off and got The Girl a new one from supply "let's get one before X gets here and sees us". Girl is happier and at least I know that the TA seems to be aware that there is a problem and is on the children's side.

Sometimes I miss being a child but then something like this happens and you remember how urgently important things are if they are yours. The other week she had this shiny stone, I told her to put it in her pocket, she didn't and then dropped it. It was like the dog had died or something. Shouting at her or telling her off would have just compounded everything into the worst thing that had ever happened to her.

Some children don't give a damn if they are told off, but some, like the girl, only ever get told off or shouted at if they do something very bad. In all honesty I can't remember the last time I had to do that. She went though a phase of bitching and moaning when she didn't get her way a year ago so it was probably then, but then the star chart fixed that so I haven't had to do it since. (positive reinforcement really works on her)

The teacher yelling at her and the class is sending off very confusing signals and putting far more weight and importance on tiny things that I wouldn't give a shit about at home. You spill your drink, well you lost your drink and need to run and get me a cloth before it ruins the carpet. All children are different and require different discipline methods, my mum yelled, I wasn't that sensitive so it went over my head, but with RG the loss of the drink is enough to upset her (even if I replace it) and make her more careful (for a while at least). Sure, yelling may make me feel a bit better but it would really frighten her and that's just selfish, I would be damaging a child who already learned the lesson so there is no need to do it.

There's a house for sale across the road from Chez Warhead. Its burglar alarm has been sounding since about 11am today. I called the estate agent about it and they came around to silence it, but apparently the power is switched off in the house, so the alarm must be trying to tell us that its backup battery is running out of juice and Charlie (for that was the agent's name) couldn't silence it. I called them again later and asked them to contact the owner to get it sorted before one of the neighbours takes the Environmental Protection Act into their own hands and silences with a big hammer or reports them to the Manchester Council Public Protection Team, but it's still whistling away.

The 2nd hinge on my laptop has finally broken, leaving the screen held on by 3 wires (2 on the left and 1 on the right).

I think I might have to relegate this to be a desk computer with a keyboard, mouse and monitor plugged in.

Although it's working by propping up the screen against the wall whilst I lie on the bed...

Whilst snacking this morning on gummy sweets that I would have given to trick or treaters had any shown up the previous night, I managed to break one of my teeth.

I broke a fucking molar on a gummy sweet.

What the fuck?

It doesn't hurt, but there's a chunk missing and I'm booked in to see the dentist in a week.

Stupid fucking gummy sweets.

Weirdly, the filling appears to be intact, but the tooth broke off around it!

My front two teeth got knocked out in a "The Hangover" style incident on a Stag Weekend in Manchester earlier this year (Canal Street to be precise). After a colossal amount of dental work, my dentist finally put two comedy metal teeth in in place of the vanished ones. He then put normal looking crowns over the metal things, but I kinda wanted to keep the metal ones, being a big James Bond fan and everything.
