Also, on the subject of food, Curio is probably right about what will happen, but a quick jaunt into Rusholme to a curry house would be a good idea IMO... some of the big ones there would have no trouble accommodating us assuming we booked in advance. About ten minutes ride by taxi from the city centre.

I hope not on the same weekend I am.

Funny as it would be to fit in a foreign meet before the Manchester one as well.

Buggering into town, then off out of town, then back into town is going to be a logistical pain in the arse, especially in taxis.

And then back out of town again, for many.

Can't we just

(a) go to pub

(b) stay in pub and drink and eat until we get kicked out

?

We could always get a bus to and from the curry place. It's not far and the busses are continuous IIRC.

Indeed. 6 Beexers present in Vegas!

It'll have been 7 if my brother ever goes through with his threat to join the forum.

This is true. Craster/Chris's points are also true though. I was just throwing it out there for discussion since it's "not long to go now".

And there are some excellent curry houses in Rusholme. There are some turds as well, but what would you expect in an area where the main road is almost without exception made up of curry houses for a mile and a half stretch either side?

High standards due to increased competition?

If they exclude public conveniences as well then I would expect that.

Restaurants usually have those inside them in my experience. It's probably different in Scotland though.

In Scotland every building has a public convenience handily located at the entrance to it.

I shall more than likely be attending this event - having not read all 8 squillion pages but got the general jist I shall probably turn up Saturday AM, hang around long enough so that I know what 50% of the following month's in jokes on here will be about then drive home in the evening pissed out of my face*

Where's the best place to park based on the above scenario?

* no I won't be drinking.

No thanks, done this once before and it was *a lot* further away than it seemed on the bus ride into town....I was also very drunk so I'm sure in sober reality it was even further. And colder.

My vote is with a bus (£1.20 or what ever it is and there is one every 2 minutes) or taxi. It's no big deal to travel in a few separate groups is it? Plus, if we walk, we risk sobering, wasting the good ground work of the few drinks we'd have had in the afternoon.

I walked from the Cornerhouse to the far end of Fallowfield (i.e. turn right at Sainsbury's and walk for another ten mins) quite often.

...Was pretty knackered, actually. ;)

Not going anywhere is very less sobering-causing.

Buses on Oxford road that will go through Rusholme are definitely these:

41 42 43 44
142 143

Magic Bus should be about 80p
Finglands likewise
Stagecoach about £1.20 - £1.80. but definitely more

There are buses every 5 mins, no need for Taxi's along Oxford road really.

I found out yesterday that the Carling Cup Final is on the 28th of February, and Villa are in it.

So I now have to make the decision to either watch it in Manchester (when we're playing against a team from that city) and get home very late, or try to rush home to London to watch it there, which means getting up early.

Oh, curse you football schedules!!!

I'm sure you'll have willing volunteers to watch it with you in Manchester.

Do we even have any United or City fans on here?
