Cool!

I may have asked this before, but why do UK people re-enact the US Civil War, rather than the Crimean War or the Indian Mutiny or the Opium Wars or the Maori Wars or one of the other various wars we were involved in at the same time? Seems odd to re-enact another countries civil war.

There are a more movies about it than those other wars, like what the feller in the article says.

Apparently they updated it a week ago. Does it auto update without consent after a week or something? Unless Mrs Bulge has clicked "accept", I don't know what the deal is. Hmm.
Chrome on Windows has always auto-updated.

Yep. I'm not sure there's a way to turn it off, and the world is a better place for it. Browsers should update instead of being fragmented across the world like all the others; you can pretty much develop for Chrome instead of Chrome 3.x etc.

Mattresses: I have the same one as Craster. Fitted sheets are slightly awkward, as they're never quite the right fit; even the ones from Ikea don't seem to be a perfect fit for mine, but I may be a complete 'tard. It's a lovely mattress, though.

They do? When I think of those people I automatically think of them doing our civil war, with roundheads and cavaliers and such.

Also, we know of around 60,000 Brits who took part, over 100,000 of our Irish cousins, we sold guns to both sides, built and manned confederate warships, and almost got involved in it ourselves.

Plus, I really hate pikestaffs!

Anyway, we do viking battles up here. Beardy cunts with kilts/whateverthefuckvikingswear with swords & axes > uniforms & guns :)

Oh yeah - I should probably read the whole article before commenting on it :D

I guess some of our colonial wars might suffer from historical sensitivities in the same way the the civil war in the US does. Thinking about it, re-enacting the Indian Mutiny might well raise a few eyebrows.

Why do Nintendo keep putting out updates that kill homebrew? All it means is I am not able to go into the Wii shop and give Nintendo my money, at least until the next Homebrew Channel update.

Good news about your girlfriend, Trooper.

As for the iMac as monitor... probably cheaper buying a moderate sized LCD TV than any form of video in dongle/adapter.

Ta.

I have a 24" Dell monitor i'm planning to use, which before I bought the iMac was such a nice screen. Now it looks bland and blurry in comparison! :D
I would love to use the uberlovely iMac monitor, but it looks like it's going to cost £100+ to be able to use a compromised solution, so that can fuck right off...

What you want to do is buy a huge tv for the spare room, obviously.

Yeah, HD TVs are cheap as chuff now! My parents picked up a 40-odd" Samsung a couple of months ago for less than £500, and it's absolutely brilliant. I paid a little bit less than they did for a 26" Samsung three years ago :'(

To add a third point on the graph, we paid £250 for a 26" Phillips two years ago.

Don't tempt me.

1) There isn't really room for a huge TV in there along with the shelves full of books and DVDs, bed, iMac, etc... but long term I could do something about that...
2) I'm going to costco tonight, any tempting will result in me coming home with a fuck off sized tv, i'm too weak when it comes to this sort of crap :D

Damn, i'm now having thoughts of binning all the dvd boxes, and super slim, super huge LED tv's attached to the wall where the bookcases are

You need to map the 360's HDMI out to the iMac's mini DisplayPort in. Should be possible, I thought?

They are utter bastards for that. That'd be like having proprietary sized kitchen appliances or something.[/quote]It's a common misconception they are proprietary. They aren't -- the Ikea metric mattress sizes (200cm long, 140/160/180 wide) are what they use in continental Europe. The UK's imperial measurement sizes are the odd ones out.

Craster wrote:
It's only a few inches difference. Not enough to cause a problem for sheets, but enough that a regular mattress won't fit in the frame.
It depends on the size too. I have the 160cm wide, which is about halfway between a UK King and Superking size; whereas the 140cm wide one isn't very different to the UK double so you're more likely to get the sheets to fit alright.

We've got both - 160 in the spare room, and 180 in our room. King sheets are fine on the 160 and Superking are fine on the 180.

Just imagine how much better your life would be. Not only is your love moving in, but you'll have a fucking massive TV all to yourself, just for playing games on. It doesn't get any better than that. Just Do It (TM).

I took the day off yesterday to drive my gf up to Silverstone for a Lambo Gallardo driving experience I bought her for her birthday. She loved it, but I couldn't help but feel amused watching my beloved go from regularly driving her Peugot around like a mental on a mission to driving a Lambo like a granny on a pleasant Sunday drive. She topped it out at 110 mph, bless her.

Almost every morning when I wake up, the sheet on my side of the bed is becoming untucked and sometimes is almost toally off the bed even though it is still eprfect on Jen's side. I am now going to blame mattress sizes when I get told off for this.
Apparently, I often sleep on my back with my feet tucked up so my knees are up in the air :S I was always sure I slept on my tummy.

That bed might work for me, as my new place has a smaller room, so the mattress will fit but not the base, as the Malm has a large lip all the way round..

It's possible, but needs an electrical doohicky convertor box for not cheap monies to make it work. Cables alone don't do it, due to some SCIENCE type reason involving packets and lines.

Yeah, I get that as well. I think I fidget at night, so I end up yanking on the fitted sheet so much it gets pulled off the bed.

I also grind my teeth when I sleep, apparently, but I don't think that would affect the sheet.

I'm doing precisely the same thing, playing Minecraft on my laptop whilst using an iPhone, while Jeremy Clarkson drives. In sixth gear @ 2000RPM, complaining about turbo lag in my (normally aspirated) Cayman.

I win.

My kingsize fitted sheets won't stay on my new kingsize mattress. I think because it's about a mile and a half thick, so the sheet corners barely reach down, and only then with He-Man levels of tensioning.
