Some gaming blog -- Kotaku, I think -- pointed out that when Bethesda launched the avatar dress-up DLC last week, they should have had some horse armour in there.

Alright you bastards. It's my day off tomorrow, and I have painting to do and a ton of stuff in the new basement to tidy up. I was going to make another batch of flaky pastry and maybe do something like apple turnovers - maybe a double-batch and take some to work on Saturday. I was even thinking of taking the camera out for a couple of hours and finding something to photograph.
But I won't.
No, I'm going to go to Futureshop and buy Skyrim, and then I'm going to go to EB Games and, with the dregs of a couple of gift cards and even more of my hard-earned money, I'm going to buy Dark Souls. Then I'm going to come home and sit in the basement all fucking day in my pants and play them both alternately, hooting at the TV screen like some kind of semi-deranged Bonobo chimp.
When my wife comes home and serves me with divorce papers, when my son looks at me with his three-year-old eyes and says "Oh Daddy, you're a loser, but I still love you anyway." I'm going to blame you lot. Every. Last. One. Of. You.
Cunts.

My 'Fallout with swords' comment was meant to be satirical, based on all the 'Oblivion with guns' comments that came out when Fallout 3 was released.

When an a man and a woman lvoe each other very much, there are times when they give each other special cuddles. Clearly, the roaring fire of a winter's eharth wasn't enough, so nailing a man to some bits of wood was the thing that made you.

Chin up, it could be worse. Worse like New Years Eve/Day, possibly to the tune of YMCA by the village people.

I've had an idea! Copy and paste this!

Quote:
Wow, it seems that loads of people have really, incredibly, beyond all belief, loving partners, girlfriends and wives who are going to take the time and effort to purchase a copy of The Elder Scrolls Skyrim for the XBox 360 tomorrow and hand it to their beloved upon their return from work. When it isn't even their birthday! How nice is that, eh? but if you ask them, they will deny it, as it'll spoil the surprise. Totally.

It'll work a charm.

This is fun. I'm too tired to carry on playing, but a few thoughts:

1. It feels like more of the same so far, but a little less clunky
2. Archery and sneaking are better. They don't automatically know where you attacked from so you can stay hidden to some extent. They'll search for you, of course.
3. I got attacked and killed by a quest NPC and some old hag after I punched one of their chickens in the face with a bow. Strange.
4. It's fucking gorgeous. I bet it's stunning on a PC, obviously, but even on the 360 it's a very pretty game.

That's exactly what I wanted to know. I'll wait till it's cheap on Steam then, never been a huge fan of the Morrowind or Oblivion game mechanics.

I'll be picking this up at some point if only because my girlfriend demands it. I never played Oblivion but she (sort of) played through it and loved it so much it would probably come a very close second to Wind-Waker in her affections. Coming second to something probably doesn't sound like much, but if you knew how much she liked Zelda you'd realise how much of a compliment that is. Anyway, as I say I've never played Oblivion but I did play and throroughly enjoy Fallout 3; what kind of comparison can be drawn between the two to give me some idea of what I'm getting into here?

Well, that'll do nicely then! I don't know when we'll get to it though as we've got Uncharted 3 and Horrendous In-Law Family Drama IV: This Time It's Serious to play through first. By the time we've mopped up all the cheevos on HI-LFD* the new Zelda game will be out so we might pick that up first. Assuming the Wii still actually works, the stupid piece of shit hasn't even been plugged in since my girlfriend finally realised that Wii Fit was an idiotic gimmick.

*I've peeked at the list and I'm particularly looking forward to 'Weeks of Bitter, Vicious Recriminations' although 'Awkward Family Christmas', 'He Said, She Said' and 'So Who Gets the House?' look like they'll be serious grindfests.
