By the power of Greyskull, there are already 3 people who have maxed this game. :S

Also: this game is very hard.

I really want to play this more, but am loathe to do so as I don't want to get too far ahead before Canuck and South join in :S

Having played all 4 characters up to level 5, I prefer the soldier and brick's special powers. Soldier's turret guns things down good, and brick's you run around listening to him go "Bleurgh! Huwooga bluergh boooglah! Hungerdy bunga!" for 15 seconds.

I might have it tomorrow morning, possibly, if I can be arsed to get up early and go into town with some trade-in fodder. But then I'd need to gold myself up again to play with you lot so, um... yeah... I dunno.

Oops, my wallet slipped. Does this have jump in-out co-op (as there are more than 4 people who have it), or is it the sort of thing where you all have to play it through together?

Author:  metalangel [ Fri Oct 23, 2009 17:49 ]
Post subject:  Re: Borderlands

It's jump in and out. The review says how you can drag a noob along for a while and powerlevel them.

It sounds a bit like a non-M MORPG. Is that valid?

Author:  Morte [ Fri Oct 23, 2009 18:56 ]
Post subject:  Re: Borderlands

Yep.

I like it, not sure I love it. However I took it for a whirl at around 4 with the intention of only playing for twenty minutes...nearly three hours later however.

/EDIT: Having now played some co-op it is vital that the characters are at the same level or within a 1 or 2 level tolerance. If you are the lowest level char then you'd better get used to losing all your cash re-lifing as there is no scaling up of damage but there does seem to be a scaling down of XP.

Change of opinion...I love it, it scratches that MMO OCD thing while providing an interesting game. Gotta love a bit of gun porn.

Gah, I'm having one of those 'stuck at the start' moments - killed the raiders in the first villagey place, now my little robot is stood facing the doorway of a lace, there's various controls that lok clickable but aren't, mysterious hallucination woman has said 'now go' and I'm ot sure where. My thing still tells me to follow robot dude, but he's uncommunicative and going nowhere.

I can has clue?

Post subject:  Re: Borderlands

That's what I thought. If it's successful, he'll start talking to the guy in the house after the last raider pegs it, then a door will open. I found the best policy is to wade in quick at that last area. Holding off and picking them off one by one meant the bug happened again.

At least you get to keep the spondoolicks, xp and equipment you picked up though.

Post subject:  Re: Borderlands

OK now I'm happy, the bug did not reappear and I got to double my takings and XP from the first little phase of the game. Cheers Dimrill, I'd have been on to Forza 3 by now if I hadn't learned this.

It's really really brilliant!

I was having decent enough fun until the moment I went to get grenades and decided to shell out on a pistol twice as powerful as anyhting else I've got, thus enabling me to one-shot-kill the little armoured rat dog thingers. Now the whole thing has clicked into place and I'm hella happy. I wonder what direction this was taking before Fallout 3 was released, though ;)
