if you like the idea watching Tim Roth go 'hang on, his eyelid just twitched' (or similar) roughly ten times an episode over old episodes of CSI then you might want to check it out.

I thought it was bollocks, but oddly I thought Dollhouse was great. From the very start!

Didn't think they did too many 'single' episodes (even though the show's format really supports them). They referred to the main story in every episode and I thought it got better and better.

It was also the first time I didn't hate Eliza Dushku.

I gots predictions:

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
1: Alpha isn't just a Doll that happened to go wrong, he's involved in the origins of the Dollhouse

2: Season 2 will be about uncovering more of the purpose of the Dollhouse and shadowy figures never seen

3: Caroline/Echo will turn out to be the original personality absorbing and managing the personalities imprinted on her. This will be the basis for a revolution in the Dollhouse. Helo from Galactica will convince the posh Boss bird and the fundementally decent ex copper to go moral and use newfound Echo-inspired techniques to have self-aware dolls, in on the deal and remembering everything. Some of whom will of course cause holy hell. The other Dollhouses will be at war with them, then.

4: There will be new dolls and they aren't about to ming, are they?

5: Summer Glau doll. A few million penises quickly worn down to stumps.

And I got comments around some of these :

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
1: Alpha isn't just a Doll that happened to go wrong, he's involved in the origins of the Dollhouse

In the backstory for him in the final ep of season 1 it did just seem to point to a criminal (however one with a knife fettish) , he did know a lot about the dollhouse and obviously has the skills to wireup a dentists chair but theres a question as to how much his background covers.

My thoughts are he wanted his Omega , and has access to all the machinery what would happen if he backed up himself and then imprinted that on other people - could he have his own 'army' of followers ?

2: Season 2 will be about uncovering more of the purpose of the Dollhouse and shadowy figures never seen

I think this one will be true , and i did wonder about the time they said that the boss was off to see the higher up people and it turned out she was just off enjoying herself with Victor

Going on from that i'm not sure what they are going to do with Victor , all of these other things they can do but they have never heard of plastic surgery ? , why havent any of the other dollhouses went that far - you can have that persons personality inside a body that has their feaures ?

3: Caroline/Echo will turn out to be the original personality absorbing and managing the personalities imprinted on her. This will be the basis for a revolution in the Dollhouse. Helo from Galactica will convince the posh Boss bird and the fundementally decent ex copper to go moral and use newfound Echo-inspired techniques to have self-aware dolls, in on the deal and remembering everything. Some of whom will of course cause holy hell. The other Dollhouses will be at war with them, then.

Dollhouse wars is something that would be interesting to see - i also want to know if the other dollhouses have named their dolls the same (echo .... meet echo) , and what happens to the current dollhouse if they run out of phonetic characters ?

4: There will be new dolls and they aren't about to ming, are they?

I'm sure there will be new dolls , some probably will , some probably wont.

5: Summer Glau doll. A few million penises quickly worn down to stumps.

From interviews they dont want her to be a doll , however who knows what will happen

Same here. I think they built it at a very nice pace. It was bloody obvious from about 15 minutes in that there was going to be more going on than just Echo-goes-on-mission.

I have ep8 ready to watch, but I caught up on Torchwood instead last night.

I'm finally getting around to catching up on this - watched 6 and 7 last night. It's certainly got enough going for it to warrant further episodes - nice to see Helo from BSG playing Helo from BSG only with an FBI badge.

Can I have an extra nerd point for pointing out to my wife the significance of "Rossum" corporation?

Well i've just watched Ep13 - its interesting and i think could almost be used as a tie up story if the 2nd season had not been approved.

Spoilers below - dont click if you've not seen it yet.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
I like the idea that its set after pandoras box has been open so its used as a weapon , and people dont know who is really who - nice touches to the whole thing including the choice of 'baddie' , reminds me of a terminator / blade runner type story where the baddie robots start off as robots and slowly change to be injured soldiers , and crying babies

Theres almost a story in there they could have of trying to find sanctuary (spin off?) - and another question to say if Whiskey is still around at the end that she is just waiting there for the next group to make it in and be helped to find the way out

Ep13 is massive spoilerage for series 1 so it would have been a bit odd as the pilot. However it also seems to make the rest of the series pointless. It was exciting though!

That's rather screamers isn't it? Rather than Terminator.

It was never the pilot. According to Wikipedia, Fox the TV station paid for 13 shows and they included the pilot in their budget; but when that pilot wasn't used, footage from it was inserted into the other episodes.

Then Fox the DVD bit said "where's the 13 episodes we want" and the other bit of Fox said "errr, well, we have 13, but loads of bits from the first one are in the other ones and that's a bit shit really". "But we've already sold 13 episodes internationally", said Fox the DVD bit. "Balls. Tell Whedon to shoot another episode, stat."

Quite why Whedon went so far off the wall with that add-on episdoe I have no idea, but it really was great viewing!

Anything that is slightly above lowest-common-denominator will be axed.

Just because Firefly deserved to be re-commissioned doesn't mean this did.

look at it this way, he was told that they were stopping after 13 episodes, whilst he was still filming number 11. This is a good thing, allowing him to do a proper finale. I'd rather have 26 decent episodes and a proper conclusion than a slow, six or seven year decline.

If you're talking about Firefly then I'm confused as to what you think the conclusion was.
"Well, here I am." isn't really a fitting ending.

If you are talking about Dollhouse I think you got your sums wrong.

The 11th of season 2. Hence the 24th over all. And they're letting him finish all 13.

I wish the US would drop the idea that every series has to be 24 episodes long. It's a lot to write, so its no wonder that there's always a lot of filler and its the filler that inevitably turns viewers off. Just imagine BSG as 4 series, 12 episodes (or less) long - it would have been ace, topped with win, with a side serving of ace; but no. We had to endure a shit load of fuck to get to the inevitably lame conclusion. And Dean fucking Stockwell.

I really liked the 1st episode cos of the question I thought they were going to ask (but didn't - meh)
Would you sign up for a 6 year tour of the planets (including walking about on mars) if it was a one way trip?
I think I would :)
(yes, I know you can walk on Mars anytime you like as long as you pass it off as some wierd massage thing. the other Mars I mean)

They are heading that way slowly. The last series of Lost was only 15 (?) episodes long and so is the final season. They may be catching on.

Agreed about the Topher thing but Summer Glau irritated a little. Having seen her act quite normal and ace in 'Alison from Palmdale' episode of T:TSCC it would be nice to have her not doing the kooky thing.

Agreed. Utterly brilliant telly. Looks like 2 seasons is our lot, Joss should be able to put it to bed nicely, with a 'Serentiy' to follow if his finale warrants it.

I'm glad this season has been moving at quite a pace. I was worried at first that it might go back to season 1 style. Presumably we'll just about end up in the post apocalypse situation and stop there. Which would be a shame as post apocalypse world Dollhouse looked really interesting in epitaph. I think it probably could have used another season and that be it. But oh well at least we got an unlikely second one.

And I didn't mind series 4 at all and quite liked the ending. Not a patch on series 2 though.

I've just watched my way through both series, and I've very much enjoyed it. I still can't decide whether Sierra is massively attractive or terrifyingly freakish though.

Also, the wife woke up in the car on the way home from the in-laws and said sleepily "did I fall asleep?", which freaked me the fuck out.

And you didnt reply "For a little while" , if she'd been watching it you could have freaked her out as much as she got you.
