Wow. That looks awesome!

Is 2027 pre or post the first episode? It has to be pre, no?

In the brief shot there is of her I thought she looked like a young Liza Minnelli 8)

It does look very good though it felt like they were ripping off Blade Runner with some of those shots.

It looks pleasingly slick, if a little dour. No actual in-game footage I take it?

There are some deliberate homages there, for sure; see the blinds closing against the sunset for one. I think it's basically impossible to depict the near future though without it looking a bit like Blade Runner, all credit to Syd Mead et al. If anything, it looks like a world that is a few years behind Blade Runner's, as the technological enhancements seem more obviously mechanical.

Also...

ARGH! WANT!

(Love the music too - it's lawsuit baitingly close to a certain other trailer soundtrack I remember, but with extra 'teh future' bippy music on top.)

How about some camcorder footage of the first ~20 mins of the game (and the back of someone's head)?

I'm really not sure I like how combat heavy it looks.

Also, how cut sceney it looks.

But I am totally reserving judgement for now, it certainly looks like it has potential to be something special.

Well as Deus Ex and Invisible War were both shite, a more combat orientrated approach would be better?

Or alternatively, why don't people who want CoD fuck off and play CoD and leave this game for those of us who'd prefer a slower paced FPS-RPG?

Deus Ex was brilliant you foolish fool! Didn't even bother with the second game after the demo ran so awfully on one of my old PCs. Still haven't bothered.

Except Deus Ex sorta missed its own point. What fun is an action RPG where the action feels clunkier than a Lada with square wheels? Where your superagent had all the grace and power of Charles Hawtrey in Carry on Cleopatra?

Post subject:  Re: Deus Ex: Human Revolution

The problem is that if you start out a badass there's no room for growth in the game. You could argue that the guy started heavily nerfed in Deus Ex; I didn't feel that but I can see why you might. But then, by about 75% of the way through, I was a silent-walking, one-shot-melee-killing, five-miles-away-sniping badass and that wouldn't have felt so ace if there hadn't been such contrast with how the game started.

Post subject:  Re: Deus Ex: Human Revolution

The game looks like it could be pretty cool. It's set in Detroit and in the background of one of the shots, I could see the building that is next door to me (The GM Renaissance Center apparently is futuristic enough to keep around for the game's landscape.), so that's kind of neat. Nothing is ever set in Detroit unless it's about Motown music, the working poor, or I dunno, a crack den.

But I have to wonder where exactly the game creators think that 81% of Detroit's population went for this futuristic scenario because there are like zero black people in the whole trailer.

Agreed.

Personally if be happy with a "todays graphics" scene for scene remake of Deus Ex.

I agree with the Gaywood.

The first was excellnt. The second felt a bit shoe-horned and over simplified.

It certainly wasn't as good as the first game, but I still really liked Invisible War. Neither of them have stood the test of time very well though. I am very much looking forward to this one though.

Wasn't Project Snowblind originally meant to be a Deus Ex spin-off? Is it any good?

It was and it wasn't. Was alright I guess, but no reason to play it now. It's just an ok FPS.

I really hated Deus Ex 2. Really really hated it.

I think the first one still holds up very well though, and enhancement mods help it.

I did not enjoy Invisible War, and missed the boat on the original game*. I'll keep an eye on this.

*and I just can't go back to really old games. I've tried before, and utterly failed to be drawn in by them.

enhancement mods you say?!

might have to install Deus Ex again.
I love the first mission its awesome. And hacking the killphrases for the other aug types so you dont have to battle them hahaha.

Aye, there are a few graphical enhancements, like one that enables DX10 lighting, and one that makes the UI a bit nicer looking at modern resolutions.

I really like Shifter mod too. It doesn't change too much, but smooths out a bit of roughness that Ion Storm probably would have done at the time if they'd thought of them, like randomised NPC inventory instead of just x number of combinations of items, alt-fires for most weapons (throwable combat knife, napalm bomb from flamethrower), rejigged skill system that also rewards you for combat/stealth prowess.
