So who else likes this programme? I've been hooked since the first series (arf!) and love love love it. If anyone's interested, I notice the first two episodes of the new series are available on the torrent site of your choice, and by gum the American version is so much better than the mangled one we get over here.

Cheers!

This and Ice Road Truckers are my favourite, non-comedy, TV programmes at the moment.

I do like Deadliest Catch, but I keep forgetting which of the 15 Discovery channels it's on and when. I end up watching about three of it in reverse order or something...

Wahay! 3rd episode up for torrenting.

I love wildlife stuff. Shame I no longer have cable.... and that I can't get freeview until sometime next year.

Talking of food, I like the Two Hairy Bikers, but was disappointed by the autobiographical first episode of the current series. Boo.

I might give it a look. It's not illegal to link to torrent sites by the way, ladies and gents and craster.

EZTV has traditionally been bestest for me.

That's who I'm downloading the DC episodes from. Bear in mind that it sort of works as a story of sorts, getting to know the boats, crew and rivalry between captains, which have all built up over the 3 (and a bit now) series.

I couldn't get into that DC: Lobstermen bollocks, but love the original. In my head, I could quite happily be a crew member on the Northwestern (though in reality I suspect I'd be wimpering like a little girl barely an hour in).

Another Discovery Channel show I love, but which hasn't been on in a while, is Chop Shop: London Garage, if only to watch Bernie and Leepu swear at each other for 45 minutes.

Post subject:  Re: Deadliest Catch

Lobstermen was out for a good year or so before they tacked on the "Deadliest Catch" pre-title to it. I also didn't like it as it was just so damn boring.

Post subject:  Re: Deadliest Catch

Thanks for tipping me off as to this. I'm deffo going to bittorrent, and if I like what I see I'll buy the first season. I love nautical stuff myself. (Ex-WoS readers may recall me banging on about Master & Commander every couple of days) Plus, one of my fave children's books is 'Captains Courageous' by Rudyard Kipling, which is about a spoilt American rich boy washed overboard in the 1920's and picked up by a rough and ready New England fishing crew, who refuse to take him back home as they have their season's fishing to do and don't believe his dad's a big industrial magnate. It has laughs and a fair few moving passages, especially near the end detailing the cost a fishing community suffers with the lost at sea.

So yes, very intrigued by this. I remember a documentary listing the top ten most dangerous jobs in the US. Lobster fishing came highest, with carrier deck personnel just below.

Post subject:  Re: Deadliest Catch

Just finished the first episode, excellent stuff - though sometimes the redundancies on the narration make me chuckle. "Choosing where to pitch your pots is a lottery - and every captain is hoping they've picked the winning numbers." No, really? Winning numbers you say? Dang!

Aside from that it's top. I'm really hoping that young Greenhorn Bradfield continues to do well and doesn't get cut or thrown overboard or anything, for example. I like his plucky, cheery, 'can do' attitude.

I also like the old crew member who looks a bit like Mark E Smith.

Is it the 'merican version (infinitely superior) or poorly re-dubbed, for god knows what reason, UK edition? UK version is an scotch voice person.

Deffo American voice on a region 2 DVD. So hurrah for that.

Redubbed? Madness! 8)

Post subject:  Re: Deadliest Catch

Indeed. It's a crime Discovery seem to repeated commit. Mythbusters and American Chopper are both redubbed for the UK, too. Problem with the Deadliest Catch is that it loses a load of music too.

They fish for crabs rather than trawl for them?

You know, I wouldn't put it past Davina McCall if she did dub this to completely ignore the high death and injury rate, the appalling conditions and the sheer exhaustion and fatigue of the crews and do something that mindnumbingly crass.

Wouldn't it be great if we could get all the X-Factor & fellow shite people on a reality TV show involving manning a crab vessell in the Baring straits? With strict instructions to the coast guard NOT TO INTERFERE.
