So I bought a new PC according to Grim..'s suggestions and I thought I'd have a go at this RAID malarky.

So I set up my two hard drives ready and then go into bios as suggested in the manual.

Go to integrated peripherals and change the AHCI thing to RAID. Except it won't. It will give me AHCI or Disabled.

AHCI isn't the same as RAID is it?

Sorry bud, never used it myself. Do you have to have them connected to specific SATA ports on the mobo?

Didn't say anything about specific ports in the manual. Silly thing. Also I fear it may require a floppy drive. And disk.

if it's a newish motherboard it shouldn't need a floppy surely! You can even flash you bios without using one of those useless little buggers now

On the mobo aren't there 'normal' SATA slots and seperate ones (Aren't they usually red in colour?) for RAID?

I've never used RAID, so I can't say for sure, but I think that's how it works. It's how it works for IDE raid anyway. I think.

Also I haven't had a floppy drive for 5 or 6 years now.
