Following on from the thread that's now degenerated into pictures of robots, I'm curious to see how you're going to buy this game (if you intend to do so).

Remember, if you buy it new you'll get the multiplayer maps from the first game as free DLC, if you buy it pre-owned, you don't.

Having only played 1/2 of the first game in co-op, none of it in single player, and no more than 10 minutes of it online I'm utterly indifferent to it in general. I enjoyed the co-op but everything is better in co-op.

Heh. I took the pre-owned option. I feel no compulsion to buy it in a hurry but, as with Burney Pee and CoD4 critically acclaimed blah deepest etc, I suspect the lure of Bezzieness will get me in the end.

My return visit to GoW left me underwhelmed, put me down as a wait until it's reviewed then if it's good wait until its £20 for a new copy. Maybe.

I really like GoW. I shall buy the sequel with haste, unless the reviews tell me something terrible has happened (glares at MGS:4).

Well, yes, I'm making the massive assumption that it'll be a half-decent game that people will want to buy.

Well if it's OMFG awesomes then I might get it on release day as it's a couple of weeks after my birthday and I'll probably have vouchers. If it's just ok then I'll probably get it cheap sometime later.

:DD

I have never played the original, and doubt I will get this, it is 3rd person isn't it?

Yes.

I'm a bit disappointed that co-op is still only going to be 2-player - I was hoping for 4.

I was late to the GoW party, but think the co-op and multiplayer are great. The single-player was broken by the Bezerker (which I absolutely could not get past on my own) and Raam. Or more specifically, the full retard AI. Everyone knows you never go full retard.

Yeah, you do really need 2 people for the crazy big charging around dude.

GoW
I really enjoyed CO-OP!
Single player is pretty boring in my eye's but did get better ( I spent 3 months trying to finish of RAAM!)
Multiplayer is boring if not too hard.

I did notice that the game got better as I got better with controls. I've only just got the hang of the active reloads.

GoW2
I'll leave untill I get more out of GoW or is patched to support more than 2 Co-op!

I managed the Beserker and Raam on my own, but I got slapped silly for a while.

Going back to GoW feels 'clunky' after Halo3 and CoD4.

You just toss grenades and walk slowly, I found.

For the one you can't kill without the Hammer of God? The one you have to lure into smashing the door open for you?

Yeah. You can just stand in front of the door revving your chainsaw and dive out of the way (indeed, I believe this is how you do it with two people as well). You can even grenade the door down if you want.

If you're me, you do it by flailing around helplessly and screaming, as if someone had just shoved a hornets' nest down your pants.

There was one in the greenhouse area I couldn't sneak past, so gave up after that

Greenhouse lady (yes, they are the female things that you are fighting) you have to lure into smashilating the roof support pillars to allow the use of Big Frickin Laser.

I stuck to my guns by flailing around helplessly and screaming, resulting in mission-breaking stuckiness. Co-op came to the rescue for that bit too (and at the underground outpost thing).

I played the 360 version, once I'd beaten the first Beserker on Casual the rest of them on whichever difficult level posed only one problem, which was smashing Dom into little pieces on account of the useless A.I.

On Casual and Hardcore, I rather crudely just kept shooting Raam until he died. On Insane he's slightly more of a pain, and to be honest it's not fun enough to make me persevere.

The first was a bit rubbish in single player, though fun in co-op (htoug as has been pointed out, everything is fun in co-op. Or should be). The Berserker bits in particular were hilariously panicky in two player, with both of us diving in and out of the way and taunting the beasties into killing the other player.

Yeah, that was infuriating.

I thought that was the only way to kill him? I tried getting to that gun looking thing at the end, but those bothersome bats did me in, and I ended up just shooting the big eejit (while Dom repeatedly killed himself whenever it looked like it was working, natch). Sitting there pumping every two-bit grunt with dozens of rubber bullets was annoying enough on medium - I'd hack off my thumbs before trying hard mode.

Am I the only person who didn't find the berserkers at all tricky?

Raam was a bit more tricky, But Me and Dimrill benefitted from him getting himself stuck while on our insane playthrough.

Nope, although it took me a few goes to work out that it had to smash the pillars the second time.
