Pron purveying protected from prying peepers.

I've never understood why MS decided that your browser needed to keep a nigh-on undeleteable (for the layman) record of everything you look at on the web on top of "History", cookies etc. If I want my browsing history deleted, I mean I want it deleted, not "deleted except for some hidden files that the tech-savvy can look at".

Cunts.

But! Not cunts, for introducing the "pron mode".

This has almost made up for that paperclip thing.

Nothing can make up for that. Short of cash that is.

However, a friend of mine has been pushing for a Firefox add-on (you know you can "lobby" for an add-on) that instead of deleting all history, temporarily stops logging, then you can switch it back on again, for ages.

That was pulled from Firefox3 late in development. It's a very hard thing to make work, as it has to patch almost every area of the browser -- cookie handling, history tracking, forward/back arrow histories, bookmarks, etc etc -- that they were concerned it would introduce tons of bugs.

Yes, but Safari is for real-ale UNIX using style nerds.

Wrong! It's for people who can't handle a real computer!

I haven't heard of it therefore it's nerdly.

Or something.

It's the standard Mac browser.

Surely if you're using Safari, you have evolved beyond base desires anyway?

You know "berk" is another way of calling someone a "cunt", right?

I have heard of everything except the nerdly things.

Boo-urns!

Surely it could just set up an alternative temporary area to write to in exactly the same manner as normal, and then delete it as it goes along*.

*and this must be easy!

I really hope so.

It's a contraction of "Berkshire Hunt".

Undoubtedly. See also: Rex the Runt.

No, do - it was brilliant.

Rex: "I'm Rex, and welcome to my world. Tonight's special guest: Birmingham!"

City of Birmingham: "O'riiiight!"

---

Rex: Well, what about the Go-Back-in-Time-a-tron? You never use that anymore. It's just using up space. Can't we, I don't know, put some plants in it or something?

Bad Bob: (reading newspaper, sighing) Go back in time and buy some crisps when they were cheaper. Cheese and onion.

For example.

Rex the Runt was awesomes. Have they DVD-ed it yet?

Post subject:  Re: IE8 to have "pr0n mode"

Vince was great. It's the little touches that made him (and the programme) brilliant. Like when Vince gleefully repeats what people are saying just quietly enough for you to hear both their next sentence and him happily mumbling to himself. Particularly when Rex says "space-time continuum" and he gurgles "numnumnum". And when a picture is being taken for a totally mundane award, and a bunch of unseen cameramen start calling out to the cast like papperazzi ("over 'ere, rex, darling, 'ere y'are!"). Or "But be waaarned, moi brave little scro'ums!", complete with a gentle little cupping gesture.

It really doesn't transcribe well though, clearly.

Wikipedia says:

Quote:
"Series One has been released on VHS in the United Kingdom and on DVD in South Korea. A DVD of all 26 episodes has been released in the United States, but is region-free, so works on any DVD player, regardless of location."

# Rex The Runt: The Complete Collection (DVD) (Region 0) (B000068QOF)

Edit: Also on youtube! Hurrah!

I was looking at my VHS copies of "The Day Today" yesterday (urk, typing that bent my brain) and thinking something very similar.

People only own one VHS tape? I have a hundred or so.

It's also a damn-sight cheaper to record tv programs using a VHS than to buy a DVD writer.

I doubt it is, the few VHS left tend to be completely worthless or expensive.

DVD-PVRs are 2 a penny. Hard disk ones barely more.

That's probably about the same as me - I've got Metallica's 'One' and possibly one or two other Metallica videos and this -

I've got "Live Shit: Binge and Purge" on video - gonna put that on eBay in a couple of weeks. And the video from the Metallican.

I did put a bunch of stuff on DVD, thankfully, before my VCR-DVD recorder went up the spout.

VCR is only really cheaper if you take that to mean you already have one, and don't need to buy another.
