I was playing Disney Trivial Pursuit with a few friends the other day and I thought "Wouldn't it be great to have a gaming version?" so... I'm making one.

The categories are:- People and places, general knowledge, Celebrity involvement, history, sports and a picture category.

Would anyone like to donate some questions? Normal games have 5000.... That's a lot.

D. The first two answers are also countries in that region. Cobrastan was made up by someone trying to get in with an obviously fake passport.

general knowledge,

Thats a difficult one I think to come up with specific questions for but I suppose there are plenty of general gaming questions about the systems / infrastructure that you could ask (what does XBLA stand for / on the PS3 controller what symbol is in the same position as the X button on the 360 controller / how many points did Minecraft cost when it was first released on the Xbox 360)

TheVision wrote:

Voices are the obvious one for this (go to any actors IMDB page and pull games stuff - who voiced the Joker in Arkham Asylum and Arkham City / Who voiced Batman in those games / who voiced Batman in Arkham Origins + Joel in The Last of us / What links Halo Reach and Firefly)

Name the Amrican football star who launched a Megadrive game which came out before Madden

Name the game (from a character shot or an equipment page) or more generic stuff on identifying the game from the cover (with the words blotted out) or even name the game system from a box corner (most systems have very distinct colours and patterns)

You could also try some Maths or number based ones in singles or multipart :

In numerical order starting at Call of Duty what number would 2013's Call of Duty : Ghosts be ?
(10)

What do you get if you add together the number of Mass Effect games (on consoles) to the number of Gears of war games (on console)
(3+4 so 7 - some people may think only 3 GOW games since the 4th was GOW Judgement instead of 4)

How many map packs were released for Call of Duty : World at War (or pick any other COD since then - they have all had 4 packs released)
(4)

In Call of Duty Zombies by what number is the element know that both powers your special weapons and caused the original zombie outbreak
(115)

A bonus Zombies question :

In Call of Duty : Black ops , when you finish the game and the final credits finish -what happens ?

(Answer it starts Zombies mode on the map 'Five' - without a code you had to complete the game to unlock that map)

As a general tip, try to go for actual questions people would expect to see in such a game and not the kind of thing that just proves how much obscure nonsense the questioner knows. It's a difficult trap to avoid and I'm totally not having a go at anyone in saying that but there are some questions here that are much closer to the latter than the former.

I'll throw one in here and you can decide whether I've taken my own advice: name the set of islands Far Cry 3 takes place on.

Some History / Classic ones for you

How many pins on the standard joystick port for 8-bit computers (Atari / C64 / etc)
9

What was the Atari VCS system later renamed to ?
(Atari 2600)

What memory combinations did the original spectrum launch with
16k and 48k

You can tell a lot about a system by the numbers on it - what is the difference between a :

Amstrad CPC 464 and Amstrad CPC 664
(main answer 464=cassette / 664 = disc drive)

Atari 600XL and Atari 800XL
(600XL was 16k / 800XL was 64k)

Commodore C64 and Commodore C64s
(just a different case for the S to match the 128)

Or what is the difference between the Atari 1010 and the Atari 1050 ?
(1010 is a cassette deck / 1050 is a disk drive)

Good question... What's the answer?

As for the questions, I agree. The Disney trivial pursuit was basically aimed at people who had seen that specific film. If you hadn't, then there's no way you'd get the answer right.

As zaphod notes that's probably always going to be the case but to me there's a difference between questions that anyone who knew a bit about a certain game would stand a chance at getting and some that only obsessives would ever know the answer to.

BZZZT repetition - Mr Dave already called that out and at least one of the questions references two non COD games series - end of the day and i was just typing nonsense and COD is a series that i know a lot of trivial crap from without too much thinking involved.

I do think you need a seasoning of obscure/esoteric questions, but that's all. If it's all "What was the Poke command for unlimited lives in Manic Miner" then you're going to lose the interest of most of the people playing.

Assuming that all of the players are gamers, then test their muscle memory as well, with questions about what control inputs did what. Maybe throw some simple things in like how do you make Sonic jump, but also how do you make Ken/Ryu produce a fireball.

You could also deal with character names in games — Mario is littered with enemies no-one knows the names of from Bob-omb to Shyguys

Then you have genre's to deal with, from the what was the first of, to game changing aspects of certain genres, be they text adventures, FPS, racing games, etc., etc.

You could also litter the quiz with key personnel of famous games producers/designers. You know where to go with this
