I like Balatro. I like Scrabble. I mushed them together.

I've been working on this with Curio's help (and a few other folk) for a little while. I consider it in public beta now, so I probably won't need to reset any progress or anything from this point forward.

Not working for me dude. Got a resource not found error after entering my name and now the start button won't work.

Same. Gor some logs from before and after I tried entering a name. After entering a name I got a 404 for start.php

It should be fixed now. Those that tried it earlier should visit this link, and then all should be fine.

Just had my first go on it. It's really impressive and I'm liking some of the silly gags in there (the image for 'I before E' for example). Well done, man.

You said, "I made a thing. You can play it.'

Yes you did.

No I can't.

Not because it doesn't work, but because I don't understand it.

But that's my problem, not yours.

Looks nice though.

This is really good. I’ve had two goes. I’ve not made it past book 6, which I assume is why I can only play beginner and not save my score. The ‘horizontal words only’ is a killer :D

Really excellent, though. Will definitely play again. Would be good to able to see my past scores as a beginner, though (mostly because I don’t know if I’ll ever get past that level ;) ) Love all the name nods, too.

I also have not made it to the end of the first book.
I did manage to "break" it by scoring too many words though as I couldn't get to the continue button. Fixed it by going to desktop mode

I got to here, and when I press on continue I hear a sound, but nothing else happens, then when I try and press again (or copy and share) nothing happens. The settings cog does work though.

Refreshing the page took me to the same place, with the same outcome

I refuse to play it until I’m in it.

If you're still on that page (or if it happens again) can you hit the settings cog and then "view logs" and copy paste them into here?

If there are hundreds I only really need the first few.

I went into logs, tried to copy it, the keyboard thought I was trying to type, overwrote them and then when I gestured back a page it took me to the shop.

Yeah, you can get to the shop by pressing back.

Can't work out how to copy logs on phone

You should just be able to long-press on the words and choose "copy".

I managed the first book on my first go but the next difficulty is definitely a lot trickier. Several attempts so far. I made it to 7/8 but then ran into a round where I couldn't make any easy plurals and that was me done.

This game is so good. I'm so impressed.

I think there's a rounding error. When I bought the power up to make everything 25% cheaper I at a later round had £8 lefts and then when trying to buy a (now) £8 helper it said I was too poor.

Code:
function buyHelper() {
    let cost = 10;
    if (cost > cash) {
        return "poor";
    }

I think even the non-technical people can see why that might be. It will be fixed in a few minutes.

Right, Grim. I'm obsessed.

Just finished the second difficulty and unlocked Ordinary.

What's the best mode/difficulty to challenge those top three scores and is there a way to get a global leaderboard? Not that my 73,365 is going to trouble it.

Standard tiles / Amateur I reckon. Make sure to pick up any hacks that increase word length, put any hacks that multiply points to the right of those that add points, and the hacks that make board modifiers (triple word score, etc) count twice coupled with the hack that randomises their position is a beastly combination.

Ah! So the order of your hacks matters too? That's interesting.

Is red the triple modifier and green the double? Or the other way around?

Red is letter and green is word. They're 3s and 2s.

The tile scores will update as soon as you do them, so for best number nerdery have your tile bag open while you do it.

You can also click on a tile in the bag to see why it scores what it does.

One the Gamble cheat that makes a random tile 0 or 100 it seems to make the letter tiles all fall away but looking at the tile set afterwards there are no tiles worth zero or 100?

Yeah, I noticed that last night. I think it only makes a change if it sets it to 100. I SHALL INVESTIGATE.

I’m not sure what buying the tile packs does, other than dilute the frequency of your boosted tiles by introducing new ones later in the game. Am I misunderstanding their purpose?

Author:  Grim... [ Thu May 16, 2024 15:47 ]

No, but they are generally better than the ones you have. Any hacks that affect existing tiles also affect new ones.
