It'll be fine for now mate, although it would be easier to shift them now than waiting until next year as they've only just been planted. Mine are in big pots to keep them in check.

Will do. Once it stops raining. I thik the flower might be one of these: Gladioli Wine & Roses, Begonia Blushing Star, Dahlia Park Princess and Ixia Rose.

Ditto, but not through football. I've been hobbling since Monday. Hopefully it'll fix itself soon.

Not those two, probably a Dahlia.

Yep, I think the flowering one is a Dahlia, too. The tall ones at the front look to be Gladioli, but I'm rather surprised they've not flowered and gone over yet. When did you plant them out?

I remember there being gladioli in the packet, now. I planted them, must have been on the 1st bank holiday weekend in may. None of them appear to have done anything, but grow up and stop.

Ah, not too surprised then. They're early summer bulbs, you probably won't get any flowers off them until next year.

Dear MaliA - then get a summer job. There are fewer migrant workers around this year so fruit picking jobs would be easy to come by. Nice outdoors work.

Also, stop being so messy.

Not a good day......

In 2008 I produced a video that never saw the light of day due to internal wrangling at the charitable organisation involved. Fine video, got paid, but I always felt annoyed that nobody ever saw it and that a charity can throw money away that easily due to poor organisation.

Today, quite by chance, I saw bits of it badly hacked up and with an introduction recorded by a proper famous actress. Thank goodness nobody will ever know the rest of the footage is mine because they've clearly clipped it from the raw footage I supplied when the project was abandoned. I should be happy part of the footage is being used but I'm not. Partly because they've hacked it, partly because I could have done that edit and done it properly but mostly because I didn't get to shoot the introduction.

But it gets better. I spent most of last Summer producing a video that has just, an hour ago, been officially abandoned. Not my fault but the fault of the previous manager of the clients venue who managed to foul up their entire business. I have now had to work out what work has not been done and deduct it from the outstanding amount.

Not the best day ever.

Rubbish. Can you charge them for the time taken messing about as well as just the footage they've had?

Craster, 6am, yesterday.

On the subject of Disney's flagship rodent character, earlier this evening I played Castle of Illusion (starring Mickey Mouse) for the first time in years. It's aged pretty terribly... now, I can see why it was popular at the time, Sonic had not yet arrived on the Mega Drive so a vaguely competent and colourful platform game would've been welcomed. In 2010 it feels really sluggish even on a 60Hz Mega Drive, is awkward to control and seems more repetitive than a lot of 8-bit platformers that pre-dated it. CoI just doesn't warrant the 'classic' status that some people misguidedly give it, but admittedly I'd argue the same about the first Sonic the Hedgehog game. ;)

I've never been a Sonic fan myself. Once you got past Greenhill Zone it was more GoSlowly the Hedgehog.

True, Dim! I always winced whenever the MD Sonic games featured underwater levels, complete with excruciatingly s-l-o-w gameplay; ironically much slower than any underwater segments in the Mario series.

Uergh. I just gave up on that DS Sonic game everyone was milming over once I got to the underwater levels. That was the 2nd zone, IIRC.

You should try the Master System version. It always seemed like a much better designed game to me. The first boss is a bitch, but apart from that I remember it as a pretty amazing game. It may have fared better in the aging process.

Edit: I'm talking about Castle of Illusion here, not Sonic.

The charity one is a separate job I was reminded off about half hour before the second one cropped up. I got paid for that (all up front which you always know means there is cash to burn before the end of the financial year), + I got paid for dubbing off the footage they wanted. I guess I always knew it would end up butchered, just not that it would end up butchered with a flavour of the moment actress introducing it.

The second job (the one abandoned today) there's not alot I can do about except try and get the money for the work owed. I've spent 8 months chasing although the new management was only appointed 2 months ago. I wrote a recorded delivery letter setting everything out on Tuesday and got the phonecall back today. They want me to cost up the remainder of what is owed. I'll be down on what I should have had, but on the other hand the job wasn't complete.

The previous manager has left a trail of destruction behind him though. The business has been left nearly out of money. All of the problems come down to him.

The money is part of it, but I hate stuff not being used. I've done stuff before that has only been seen by a handful of people but you know the video did its job and the client was pleased. Stuff nearly complete that just ends up sitting on a shelf does really really annoy me.

Just been playing GTA.

Can someone clear this up for me. Am I playing a game or some annoying Japanese shite where I have the tedium of real life inflected on me. All I want are some guns and action and so far all I've done is take a woman bowling and then been stabbed to death by a drug dealer. Is this actually "Advanced Brian Tilsley Simulator"?

Saint's Row 1 & 2 are much better than the latest crop of GTA releases. Play them.

What he says. Get 2 for preference. Also Bully is very good.

I have spent all my pocket money.

If I rub my fingers across the tape and say it won't load, do you think Tesco will take it back?

had a great day at Alton Towers. 13 is awesome went on twice.

Cool I went to Alton Towers yesterday (Wednesday), have to agree 13 is very good. Unfortunately I didn't get to go on RITA.

Slightly disappointed by how busy it was (I know I should have expected it, but there was always a glimmer of hope that the millions of kids all had national service or an emergency exam to go to!) we queued over an hour and a half for 13. Good fun though.

The kids at private schools are now off. A number of years back I went to Chessington in late June with a load of friends midweek and it was fantastic. Wonderful weather, no screaming brats and no queues at all. We literally walked onto every ride. In the words of Justin Lee-Travis, "good times".
