Anyone getting one? Post pics here! I'm holding off until payday, but I think I'll be picking one up. Which brings me to my next point, anyone interested in a 360 Pro with 6 month's warranty left, and a 120GB HDD? It has RROD'd once and was refurbed.

I'll probably get one in October, November time when I can budget for one.

If I had the money, I might be more willing to get an Xbox at last. Again, if the Slim hardware is proven reliable, and I can work out if there are any games I'd be interested in. Then again, I suspect it might still get more games usage than my neglected launch model PS3. ;)

I don't have any stats or whatever to hand, but, I think the general feeling is that the 360 models released in say the last year or so, are massively more reliable than the very early models. I'm sure the new Slim consoles will be fine in this regard, not because Microsoft love us or anything, but just because they must surely prefer not to have to keep repairing stuff for free, and will have sorted out the chip-set (or whatever it was) issue by now.

This'll be why I didn't see one in HMV, last week.

Though, to be fair, I didn't see much of anything in HMV. Them's fallen on hard times.

I thought it was the opposite - they probably had no stock as their sales are massively up. Zavvi really, really helped them out.

I've ordered one for collection on Friday, I can't wait.

It'll be replacing my Premium with 20gb HDD which Game have offered me £65 quid for as a trade in, I may keep it though for the times I work away and trade my DS Lite in instead. Depends how my bank account looks at the time.

My 360 has been loud and invasive for a while now so am really pleased to be getting rid of it and the cavernous HDD will be a lovely bonus.

It's also very black, which will look lovely in my AV stack.

Bring on Friday, bring on the new shiney!

They've moved everything in disc form upstairs. I'd have thought they might re-stock if they were shifting. Main floor was some cheap books and t-shirts spread out as thinly as possible.

I would love a new Xbox but not with a wedding looming...

There's nothing wrong with my old one but I am a sucker for shiny consoles. It does look lovely! Also, I want a dedicated HDMI port and optical out.

I want one but sooooo dont need one, so not getting one.

I would do if i could flog my "white elite" (Pro with 120gb hdd) for good money however. but thats massively unlikely now. Ill just wait til it breaks.

Having said that ive got an old non HDMI premium 20gb that lives with my gf right now, lol.

They've been charging for the cable for ages - shady but not news.

Were I to get one, I'd do the USB thing I'm assured will work; but then I've only got a 20GB drive so it'd fit in one go.

I don't know where my cable is. Which is really annoying because I remember making a point of storing it somewhere safe in case I ever needed it again. WHERE THE HELL IS IT?

The third sentence of your link wrote:
It was revealed to us at Microsoft's Xbox 360 Slim unwrapping event that the new console will support the current data transfer cable (originally made for the Xbox 360 Elite).
Same cable that you used to have to ring MS to get when changing console; free at first, then they realised it was a teeny money spinner so started charging. The difference now is that the Slim has the software built-in and they're retailifying it separately.

Edit: Though your link also suggests moving up to 8GB at a time via USB. Why not 16GB?

It's more the disk that's been the problem in the past. My original one worked from 20gb-120gb and refused to detect Poikies' 60gb drive so he had to send off for a new disk. As the 250gb HD was the last drive released, I'd expect this disk to like all the flavours of drives out there.

I could be wrong, but wasn't it more to do with the software being incompatible between the various iterations of the HDDs not the cable changing. IIRC there were problems using the software that came with the original 120 Gb HDD upgrade with the more recent 60Gb HDD. Or something. They should stop fucking around with this and simply make it a download over Live so if you have a cable it will just work.

They should just allow us to store our save games in the cloud and then we could just re-download them and tediously re-download all of our purchased stuff as well.

Yep, that; I wouldn't be surprised if they integrate it into SkyDrive before too long. The more tie-in routes they offer, the sooner they can start charging for it.

So yeah, if anyone needs a cable, I haz one.

Also, if anyone is picking up an old Xbox Chunky to get into the world of 360 gaming, I can offer my old 20 gig drive to go with it, for postage.

It appears the 4GB version is matt. I want matt. PS3 is a dust magnet, and the 250GB 360 will be as well.

I didn't know there were shiny and matt varieties.

My RE5 Ltd Ed is still the bestest.

I dunno. 360 always looked a bit cheap to me. A bit - unsurprisingly, considering its construction - plastic-y.

I'm not really a fan of the bits of writing on it, and the colour isn't as good as Damon Black(TM), but it makes Halo noises!

I'll probably wait until it comes bundled with Kinnect4 or whatever it's called, and buy one then.
