I have a GP Powerbank charger that came with four 2700 mAh batteries. These are great, but does anyone know of any higher capacity rechargeable batteries? My googling failed :(

It's unusual to go above 2850mAh for AA NiMHs. I'd say that anything that does is either going to be really expensive, really lousy, or fake and dangerous.

I'm not much use, but you could try emailing a guy called Matt at http://www.mailorderbatteries.com/

I used to work with him, he's a decent bloke.

You could probably buy a dozen 2500-ish batteries from ebay for the price of a single set of four 3000+ ones. Is it that inconvenient to carry two sets?

I'd probably agree with this. What's the application?

I have some Jessops ones.

They're beyond terrible.

Speaking of these:

We managed to buy some AA batteries which are Zinc Carbon. They work in the XBox controller but don't i a digital camera. Is this due to them not having enough "OOMPH!" to do that, or something? Also, where is my battery charger?

Wow, where did you buy those, from a gypsy?

High internal resistance (yes, no ooph!). Also, probably flat when you bought them.

Similar issue - I rocked up at Glastonbury with 24 AAs which work fine in almost everything, but not in my iPhone charger. Ended up getting raped for £10 to buy four Duracells to make it work.

I suppose they'd be OK for utterly disposable applications (i.e. kids toys which are going to be broken within the day), but otherwise they're bad value by any metric compared to alkaline.
They should have died out in the early 80s really, if only people would stop buying them...

I use these in the Radio mics. Bloody marvelous:

http://www.svp.co.uk/technology/consumables/batteries/standard-batteries/procell-industrial-batteries-duracel002_aa-box-of-ten.html

As far as I can see they are identical to standard Duracell batteries and for approx 36p a battery you can't argue.

See my post about the Procell batteries. Can't believe anyone would still buy zinc when you can get batteries at the price I buy them at.

I've had that page open since you posted it and still haven't got to the end. Your definition of interesting seems to be quite different from mine. ;)

Works out far cheaper for me as I buy a load of other stuff at the same time. £6 over a £150 order works out far better than £6 postage for one pack of batteries.
