If you were actually fighting over the carriers, so the defensive cannons were of some use, it would be more fun. As it is it's just one big furball in the middle, which is dull.

Just started playing Bad Company despite having it since it came out and not playing it. It's fucking good like! I can't believe I've left this untouched for so long. I'm in a multiplayer game now, and it's quite clearly going to be fucking ace even though I've only been playing for 10 minutes. How did we not all wind up playing this instead of CoD?

CoD4 multiplayer definitely has its place, but Bad Company's single player shits all over Modern Warfare's equivalent.

No, so you have to set it as private when you first join your first match.
No -- just don't ever select "start in open squad" is better. Basically, if you hit "start game" as a lone wolf, you end up in a private squad of just you, if that makes any sense.

I think you are right.
I'm starting to wonder if it only supports a certain number of squads like the pc version did.
So say it only supports 4 squads, and 2 are already filled with 2x2 man private squads. then the likelyhood of getting our lot into squads is slimmer. Lone players who make their squad private use up a slot that could have been taken up with a 4 or 5 man squad

Just had two stonking rounds of this on Iwo-Jima, both going right down to the wire. In the second one, the opposition had half of their health bar remaining, but we managed to capture all five flags and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat!

Are we still doing our bezzie private game on Wednesday?

FINALLY got on tonight, having made no changes to my settings at all, from when I was getting the big fuck off from EA servers. NOt tried for about four days now, mind.

First impressions - had one go, abut a game and a half, got 7 minutes of demo left. It's great - controls are a bit daft for some vehicles but I got 6 kills to 5 deaths, which is six kills better than I do in most multiplayer games, the twentieth time I play let alone the first.

I'm not spending on it until I see how fast the internet is at my new address, plus won't be properly online for about a month and everyone will be playing something else once I get connected.

I might be doing everyone a disservice, but I haven't seen many people playing it for the last few days.

It's still bloody brilliant though, and has nothing in it that you hated about CoD5 (mix and match weapons, dogs) or CoD4 (juggernaut, martyrdom), yet you still don't buy it.

It has the game mode and vehicle mayhem that you loved in CoD3, also. You're baffling.

What is it with you? Everyone else: Meaty had a big whinge at me t'other night about this supposed "hive mind" about how we all get obssessed by a game, and play it loads and have tons of fun, and then we all move on to the next game and stop playing the old one. To which my response was, "yes, and?" I fail to see anything bad about that. We don't all want to wring 100+ hours and 1000+ gamerpoints out of every title we own.

I would have played it last night but I was co-opping RE5 with MyFinger. I would like to complete RE5. And I didn't have time for gaming on the weekend.

:this:

I've had about 16 hours out of BF1943 so far. If I never played it ever again (even though I will, lots) I wouldn't regret getting it for what it cost.

Yeah :this:

If you get an hour of fun per £1 out of it, you're laughing.

Or 2 hours of semi-fun per £1.

Or 4 hours of partial entertainment per £1.

Etc.

FWIW, I see nothing wrong with the "hive mind" either, although I don't go in for it myself. If you play games mostly for online shits'n'giggles with mates, then what other way can you approach the games than to hammer one game for a month then move en masse to the next one?

I am far more likely to play a game I'm not that keen on (CoD4, Burney Pee) that everyone else is playing than I am to play a game I love (UT3) on my own. Hive mind FTW.

I think BF1943 is a great game to have because it's perfect for a quick blast when there's only maybe three or four on, I think for this reason it's one that will get played for quite a while. A lot of the "bezzie" games are really only any good when there's a good number.

Also, not having to dig out the disc. Laziness FTW!

Yes, I think there is truth here. UT3 is less compelling until you get to 6+ Bezzies, for example. I think BF1943 will have a longer tail than most of our bezziegames.

Well if you will insist on burying your discs in the garden with your old bones and squeaky toys... ;)

Very good point that.

Also: It's decent enough to play on your own even if there's no Bezzies about.

Very much so. Like I said on the previous page, I had a couple of quick rounds last night while I was waiting for Ange to come home. It's almost like Peggle in that you can pick up and play it for short periods, or long sessions.

I think it'll hold more interest for me than Peggle, though.

The other thing is that if you see BF1943 on the list of games someone has played then you can be pretty sure that they still have it. Unlike the other week when me, Z and Perkies were the only ones left in the Forza lobby and Perkies was going through my list for stuff we could play and I'd pretty much traded them all in.

I solve this problem by not trading stuff in. (also by something like http://www.playfire.com/MrDaveXXVIII/games/ )

I could have done that and admittedly I would have had an extra hour playing with mates two weeks ago. However I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in collecting games for the sake of it, no desire to have a wall full of mostly disappointing crap to stare at, and knowing what games to keep that people will end up playing isn't always very easy.

Its not being fickle, its promising more time to Lady Droman on Monkey island and only having Dead Rising for a few days before i have to give it back.

Other than that, i'm up for tomorrow. (headset permitting)

Why do you always think I'm talking about you when slagging people off. Guilty conscience? :P

You can borrow my Dead Rising once you give the other copy back, if you want. Plus a headset.

I still play this :(

it was a while before I could be bothered inviting kalmar and craster to the party I was in, so dont think i was ignoring you to begin with!

Shame about zardoz not being able to get in... I still dont understand why, there were 6 free spots for pretty much the whole time we were playing... everyone might have been unable to join that game or something... I dunno....
Better luck on wednesday!

I think it has something to do with the amount of Squads in a game, and that you guys where in a full Squad of 4.

Never mind, I got my Master Thief title in Oblivion instead :nerd: :metul:

I still play this :(

it was a while before I could be bothered inviting kalmar and craster to the party I was in, so dont think i was ignoring you to begin with!

Shame about zardoz not being able to get in... I still dont understand why, there were 6 free spots for pretty much the whole time we were playing... everyone might have been unable to join that game or something... I dunno....
Better luck on wednesday!

Mmm, just a thought - On our 16 player game, Zardoz was in, and a few people couldn't connect.
Then when we tried a 4 player game, with Zardoz, I still couldn't connect.
Every game without Zardoz has had no connection issues (although a few "end up on the wrong team" issues and "Can't send invites to squad" issues)
I don't remember a single game with a Zardoz....

Z, check your router for crapness.
