tbf, there should be many, many more games which offer 60 foot alien death tripods!

We keep talking about it, but never doing it. I'd like to arrange a big game of this, at least 4v4 but preferably 6v6 or so. 8v8 might crush my router to a pulp. When would people be up for this? How about Wed night from 9:00pm onwards? That was always a good slot for Forza.

Caution, there might be some tedious fiddling with voice chat. I think we'll either have to tolerate the in-game click-to-chat or form two parties and then have to fiddle about each round to ensure each party is the same as each team.

Yeah, that's why I think we should aim to start at 9 or even 8:30, so there's an "early" and a "late" shift, and some people playing through.

TDM and CTF are self-explanatory. For vCTF, you need to know the vehicles, and for Warfare you also need to understand the mode itself. I wrote a guide here and that post also has links to some other very good guides.

PvP demands the numbers for CTF or WAR though. 3v3 would be a bit crap. We've never, I think, had more than 8 people playing UT3 at once.

Yes, we did. I think the total pool of Bezzies with UT3 is around 16.

So if we got 12 playing then we could have 6v6 + a bot or two on each side?

I think 6v6 is the right size for most of the maps, without bots. Apart from the very biggest WAR maps they get a bit crowded above that -- it becomes really hard to break through to the enemy flag, for example, because there are always four people milling around it. I'd guess 6v6 is the sweet spot.

Problem with CTF is that you lose the 'everyone on voice' option. I like being able to mock myp my opponents as I kill them.

Yes, that is a shame, I know. But for the more strategically interesting game types you need team chat really.

I am disappointed L4D doesn't put everyone back into the same voice lobby for thirty seconds between rounds. I think Valve missed a trick there.

Me, with impact hammer: 5 kills.
Same game, Craster with all weapons: 4 kills.

I had a power cut halfway through that game though. Not sure if that would have made any difference, mind.

There were a spate of them in the south east last night.

I thouroughly enjoyed the game last night! I think I managed to hold my own as well with people that seem to be far better at games than I am!

I liked the numbers we had too.. I've never played online with more than 3 people before!
