Time Team is on youtube now, and has a new set of presenters (with lots of old faces from channel 4, thrown in as well)

Over the weekend they put out a 3 parter, where they looked at some UK civil war stuff in Modbury ( a village about 10k away from where I live) which I enjoyed.

I have embedded day1 above, and the link to the playlist is here:

We used to watch Time Team but Tony Robinson's presentation style gradually began to irritate me until I couldn't bear it.

Tony doesn't present on the linked video(s) although he does do a bit of Voice over work at the end

Do you want a short tour of the antennas on a relay tower outside Buxton with relaxing drone footage of the surrounding landscape?

Yes, you do

I've thought about making a video like that for the transmitter on the top of The Wrekin. I wonder if he's already done one.

As a general rule, I'm wary of anything that starts with 'The real reason why..." but in this case it's Rick Beato, so I'll let him off, even though I think the 'real' is superfluous. I think it's well worth spending 12 and a half minutes on what he has to say.

The Real Reason Why Music Is getting Worse

In this episode, he discusses the crisis in music in two acts:
Act I - Music is too Easy to Make
Act II - Music is too Easy to Consume
...and their cumulative negative effect.

The Room Next Door - Donald Trump Fact Check Special

Everything you'd expect and more. Trump spends just under 18 minutes saying nothing of any substance and gets a round of applause for it.

A playthrough of possibly the original train game.

The board looks beautiful; the game less so.

In "honor" of the US election, here's a delightful look at a 1990s board game where you get to run your own campaign.

No, we are not playing it at Cottage.

Am really enjoying this channel. It's called The Rest is Entertainment and it's Richard Osman and Marina Hyde talking about a lot of behind the scenes stuff to do with TV, film, sport and games. It's really interesting and they're both good on it.

Regarding all the aircraft stuff above.

If you go to to 9m 50s on this video, you'll see a Jet2 flight coming in, getting shaken up by crosswinds and aborting the landing. It was a flight from Lapland in Jan 2019 and while the video doesn't exactly do it justice, it was TERRIFYING. It was the last time I flew and the reason I didn't bother getting a new passport.

Here is an other angle of it. You can see a bit more of a rotation on this one. Pretty much the moment the pilot said 'nope.'

Again, it doesn't really do the moment justice (at the time I figured I had a 1 in 3 chance of dying and everyone on the plane was freaked out, including the cabin crew from what I could tell) but yeah I'm just not keen on getting on a plane again for the foreseeable.
