Nah, he advertised shower gel, not deodorant.

I think that in some of the ads he has a shower gel and in some he has a can of body spray in the end shot.

I watched a program called 'Death in Paradise' last night. It occurred to me in my insomnia that the older of the two policemen looked like The Cat from Red Dwarf. Anyone seen it to recognise if it's him?

I've got to lug mine upstairs and plug it in to the router so I can download the DLC stuff for Deus Ex before I play it, which is why I haven't yet. it'd take a bout ten minutes but I can't really be bothered to.

Heh, that'd be a 28 minute train ride around trip, plus the time spent waiting at bradford to return home, and money. Might as well take it upstairs.

GAAAAH. I hate JCT contracts with a fiery passion. Yes, let's make a standard form contract for use in the construction industry, that's 100 pages long and that is only available in unusable pdf or paper copies. Because it's crap and entirely unsuitable for most construction projects, people can then write up a document containing 50 pages of amendments to it (in clause 3.4.2(ii) delete all the wording between "and" and "and" and insert the following words "quack quack quack £100") , making the whole thing an un-reviewable mess. I'm tempted to respond with "I am an egg" to every question the guys ask me.

MrsA did a book on Construction Contracts law once, you know. One of the more expensive doorstops I've used.

The wireless adapter is £40, and an unlimited phone contract is a tenner a month. For the 6 games I get a year, it'd be somewhat of an indulgence. Although i was given some cash for my birthday to purchase a wireless adapter, but MrsA and I spent it all on booze instead.

Doesn't Xbox live require at least a 2mb connection too? Can a phone manage that?

By the way.. I have no idea what I'm talking about.

In bicester, I only had 1.5meg at the best of times, and it still did stuff, but I rarely played on line.

Hahahahaha!!! Excellent. I hate the JCT, written by Architects, for Architects, it would seem. The design team get far too much protection. As usual...Anyway, the NEC is where it's at, much more user friendly and a much more common sense approach.

I've never had to refer to one in practice though, we don't tend to get all contractual with our clients. In fact, I haven't even seen the contract for this job. Have had to destroy a few subcontractors with my amazing skills of being able to read and understand a construction contract, it helps a lot when 93% of the words are outside of their vocabulary.

I successfully hooked up my brother's xbox through a mobile connection (admittedly with a laptop go between) and it worked for many months until the cheap fuck decided to finally get proper broadband.

NEC's just as bad from my point of view. Any industry standard-form contract is a pain in the bottom hole.

I cut my standard-form contract teeth on contract manufacturing deals using MF/1s, which were only available in paper at the time. And you'd inevitably find the other side were referring to the previous version of the standard form document.

According to my brother, who used to be an architect's technician, the only thing worse than an architect is a quantity surveyor who's been put in charge of a project.

Oh, hang on, is flis a QS?

Ha. Soz.

I had great fun as a trainee working on a couple of professional negligence cases defending QS firms. They were lovely people.

Oh no you di'nt...It is on.

I'm a contractors QS so we're an entirely different thing to the ones that would be in charge of a project, it's us and them. I don't think I could ever work for a clients QS. No way I'd be able to stop swearing enough, for a start.

We are pretty bad to be fair. It's all about the money and fancy shit is too expensive. I've actually been in a meeting where my boss at the time literally started tippexing out parts of the Architects design. It was amazing.

I love what I do, it's awesome. I made £32k by lying on Friday, I could totes be a lawyer.

Not seen him about for a while.
He doesn't post much (though he has posted a bit recently) but he lurks.

Flis' horrendous commute:

This morning I was late for work. By 10mins. Utter joke scenes on the roads today.

My main route is still closed due to a landslide yesterday afternoon, last I heard it would be open last night. So this mornings road closed sign came as a bit of a shock and I was already running late because I didn't want to get out of bed. 5mins into the journey on my alternative route, I got stuck behind 13 cars stuck behind a bus on a stupid road with practically no-where to overtake, held up by belms not wanting to overtake, despite only going 30mph. Grrrr. The rage was building at this point. So I left this meandering queue of knobbers at the first opportunity and got on to a blissful back road where people travelled at more than 50....Ahhhh, sweet relief. Then I rejoined my usual route on the other side of the closure, everyone was still going 50, which made me mad again....'fuck this' thought I and went past them all. My car was over the moon to get higher than 3rd gear for longer than 3mins. Then I realised I was being a total fucking dickhead and slowed down again.

I need to take some Valium or something before I head out in the mornings...

You were late by 10 minutes? Oh my god, that's like missing half a day's work in the building trade, isn't it?
