Tonight I had a zoom call with my friend (the one who shared the DnDBeyond library with me). He was showing me Foundry VTT, a rival virtual tabletop platform to Roll20 which is spoken highly of and gets a lot more ongoing support than Roll20 does but costs $50 up front so I hadn't wanted to commit to it when I didn't know if I would get the use out of it.

He showed me what it looks like as a player and then showed me the DM tools and it looks great so I've purchased a license and I'll spend the next week trying to do some tutorials and learn the tools. I might not be ready to transition the campaign into Foundry by Monday but I'll see how far I get. If I can get a couple of hours to mess around with it, I should know enough to muddle through with what he showed me tonight.

If a Druid can’t unsplit a potato’s arse then he is not worthy of the name.

I'd link to the Dakka thread announcing them, but it's full of horrific people being horrific.

I'd link to the Dakka thread announcing them, but it's full of horrific people being horrific.

Matt Mercer, Critical Role DM, used a combat wheelchair character design that someone had made for public use and made an NPC who used it. It was brilliant, he did it seamlessly without drawing loads of attention to it, it was just matter of fact. There was the same result of horrific people being horrific but I think the majority response was really positive.

I love these designs you’ve shared and I love that people are making them!

I saw a Twitter thread earlier about a gift drive for kids who won’t be getting Christmas presents so I searched for something in my area and found one. I was browsing through it and saw the D&D starter set on the list. They’d put multiple copies on and the comment was about it being a great gift for teenagers. I hope the kids who get them get to play lots of D&D and find a new lovely community of people.

It's amazing how arsey people can be about others relating to the character they decide to play. "Am I supposed to tell the DM I have asthma and am a burden too?!" Horrible.

Great looking minis! Nice to see something new.
Sad as fuck that there are those out there who feel the need to be abhorrent about such things.

Hopefully Myp's gaping anus will distract the Beholder long enough for us to tip toe past it while it's getting one of its eyestalks RIGHt up there.

I think I've got the game world setup in Foundry with the Tresendar Manor hideout map which is where we pick up tonight.

I've not enabled all of the functionality yet but if we use it tonight, if I've set it up correctly, you should be able to see the tokens on the map, move around the map and interact with doors.

There's a useful video here that explains Foundry for players. The most important part of this video is probably the section on movement. I'm still figuring out how to link a character sheet so if it works we'll probably just use it for positioning context tonight and I'll play around with it more this week.
