Hlp plz....

Lady T has had an app stuck 'installing' for DAYS now, and cant seem to clear it from the marketplace queue, so can't download anything.

I've barely used her phone, so any pointers (I'm googling around also) would be really helpful.

I'd also quite like to do a backup, but the PC companion software doesn't seem to offer that.... Do I need to get an app on the phone itself to do that?

EDIT: Seems like I found the SE backup software and got it installed and backed up.

EDIT2: By uninstalling the marketplace updates it seems to have cleared it. I don't think I like this phone much. There's an update for 2.1 but it hasn't been released by the carrier yet. I'm tempted to go down the 'root' path so that I can remove a lot of the crap that they put on there. Just wondering if it is really worth it for The Lady's phone....

I was actually talking about Grim...

I would have beaten you had I got the mythical 40 point bonus for using all my tiles up. Buggy game. :(

As I said to you in the chat, the 40 point bonus is for using all 7 of your tiles in one go. The only bonus you get for using all your tiles up at the end of the game is that the total score of the tiles your opponent has remaining will be taken away from their score.

There are a lot of hints and murmurs that Teh Gingerbreads is coming out very, very soon.

I await with bated biscuits.

I just hope this is real and comes complete with a "BOOOOOOoooop" power-down noise.

Apologies, I've just read the help file again and you are correct. Our two games thus far have been really close (1 and 3 point difference). :)

They have been a lot of fun :)
The third one is shaping up to be more of the same, but I wish it would give me some vowels :(

Has anyone other suggestions for other turn based (online) games? I may try one of the poker apps...

I only said this to Joans a couple of days ago, I was a bit worried as to how long a hand might take though!

I tried out Dragon Live Texas Holdem or something last night. The games are short, but you can't seem to change your cards - must be the rules of that particular card game. It was okay, but not that exciting, really.

It's not in the scrabble dictionary, so I wouldn't expect it in the game anytime soon.

Google Sky Maps is rather special, isn't it?

I bet there's a shit load of cool stuff for my phone that I'm completely unaware of.

Yes. Note that you can search for things and it draws an arrow on the screen until you're looking at them, too.

I bet.

There was an ad on TV for Android last night which showed an app which can make your phone ring from a PC, even if its on silent. Useful if you misplace your phone around the house.

The downside is they didn't tell you what its called or how to do it! Anyone know?

My brother in law has that on his phone but I think it came as standard. His is the HD desire I think. It also allows you to lock the phone remotely and display a message of your choice on the home screen. Then if the finder tried to open the home screen, they see the message and the only option they have is to dial a number put in by the owner via a PC, so he would put in his home phone number and the finder would ring it unless they were a baddy.

"Where's My Droid" winds the volume right up and rings if you send it a text message with a special word in it.

Maybe most of his texts already contain the word "anal".

I've just tried Snap ("and" - Ed) Go, it's a Samsung app, so it might not work on other phones, but it might just be because it's late, but I'm struggling to work out how it actually works, short of voodoo magic.

Download the program to your phone and install the server on your pc.
Run the program on your pc, and on your phone, accept the prompt on the pc (everything has to be connected to the same wireless network).
The phone will display a camera, point it at a file on your pc and take a picture, your pc screen flashes up a QR code and the file is downloaded to the phone.
Doesn't work for folders, but you can select multiple files on the pc and then take a photo to transfer them all in one go (this last bit makes sense, you've already selected the files on the pc, so taking a picture of the screen isn't really telling the server anything it can't get from looking at what files you've selected, but I'm struggling to work out how I can point the camera at a file in windows explorer (list and details view both work fine, I haven't tried icons yet) and the camera then tells my phone what file I've clicked on, which then passes the information back to my pc, which then generates a QR code for the full path of the file and sends it to my phone. :ninja:

Mrs B has a HTC desire. Updated the firmware and since then the sounder has been clicking at the end of each alarm cycle. It is a mechanical sounding click, almost like the sounder resetting. Any one had this occur?
