Mine was the original XDA.

The Mrs has a Nokia ESomethingSomething. It's got a terrible resistive touchscreen, but in order to be cooler than a phone with a stylus, it comes with a fucking plectrum on a string. Bizarre.

The Nokia 5800 COMESWITHMUSIC had a plectrum. I think it's part of a range of music phones.

The main advantage of this over normal scrabble is the ability to try random combinations if you're stuck. Helps :)

I've been scouting back over the thread a bit, and so the first thing I'll say is that there's a new version of Angry Birds on the market with extra levels and support for older devices, so if people have had problems before, it might work ok now.

The other thing is the whole "Android is open source, so manufacturers/networks are free to do whatever they like to it" debate.
Over the last couple of days, the CyanogenMod team have made some really good progress in terms of getting AOSP Froyo to run on the Samsung Galaxy series of phones. In doing so, they have unlocked the true power behind the phone, and the benchmarks they are getting on identical hardware does make me wonder why Samsung would bother to put their own software on the phone if it cripples it so much?

As an Android /\00ß, what other apps should I be taking a look at? All I've added to my phone so far is Wordfued and a widget that tracks my data usage.

Zombies Run!, Swype (you'll have to search Google for that), ShopSavvy, SMS Backup (I like it, anyway), Hullomail, Kindle, Google Goggles, Google Skymap, and Barcode Scanner.

Which widget for tracking data/call usage did you use? I need one of those.

I use 3G Watchdog which is good.

There's been an update to Angry Birds.

Uppers - There's more levels

Downers - The adverts are very annoying now and difficult to ignore

The bottom line - It's still great.

I shan't update till I've done all the levels I've already got then :)

Astrid tasks can GTFF though - it hassles me about a task I've done, so I launch it... splash dialogue giving me the option to go to market and update or watch a 10 second timer count down before I can use me software. Deletable offence.

Anyone know a good task manager that doesn't dictate to me how and when I use it/my phone?

Homepipe appears to be a free equivalent, but I haven't really tried it out yet. Subsonic did seem to do the job really well though, so if it was something I found myself wanting to use regularly, I'd probably cough up for that.

Android Agenda Widget is, er, an Agenda Widget for your Android
AK Notepad is a notepad
Handcent as an SMS replacement app
Kaloer clock
Our groceries - share shopping lists (it's handier than it sounds)
ScummVM
ADW Launcher - replacement launcher, but if you've got a HTC with Sense, you're probably better off sticking with that unless you really don't like it.

It's just for data not calls, mate.

It's called Data counter widget v 1.4.1

I'll probably have a look at that 3G Watchdog too.

Yay - Angry Birds installs on my Magic now!

Boo - it grinds my Magic to an almost compete halt so it's pretty much unplayable.

Looks like it does - http://www.ourgroceries.com/overview

Well, you can get it for both, but as it deals with it server-side, I can't see that it would matter if you had two different bits of client hardware.

JustPictures! allows you to browse all your pictures from various online accounts (and photos on your phone) in one place (as long as your happy giving it all your login details).
Although the Gallery already does Picasa integration, so this is only really useful if you plaster loads of photos on Flickr or Facebook.

8pen now has a popup keyboard above the other keyboard, so you can actually see what you're doing.

Mine would be about 0-50, we have two games on the go at once. I think the only person I have beaten is Davpaz.

So I've been using 8pen all evening and boy.. does it take some getting used to.

The only way I can see it being useful is if you remember exactly where all the letters are, something which we've all done on a qwerty keyboard anyway.

Uppers - It was free
Downers - It's very confusing and quite unnecessary.
The Bottom line - If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Stick with the QWERTY keyboard.

Yes, and an 'are you sure' dialogue when laying tiles, so can see how much words are worth before you play them.
