The school holidays knock ages from my commuting time when I miss the train. Stupid schools.

Conversely, my train has been late each day this week.

They've decided to do major roadworks on my bus route through Catford, starting this week and running for seven weeks. So instead of my journey to work being the usual 20 minutes shorter during the school holidays, it's now 20 minutes longer. Gits.

You can agree to be a self employed contractor but if the reality is you are a worker, you are entitled to minimum wage and paid holidays.

I had Monday and Tuesday off so a fun long weekend was had - veggie patch is complete and now planted with pumpkin, beetroot, carrot and peas. Job interview yesterday went okay, will hear next week if I've got a second round interview. However, First Born vommed on Sunday and was a bit poorly on Monday too, bless him, but he was a good little trooper. When he was sick in the car he held it in his mouth until Mrs K could get a bag for him. Astonishing, really.

So, as a treat, he got to watch Empire Strikes Back, as he's been playing with my old Star Wars toys and really likes them. He absolutely loved ESB. He keeps going on about chopping off monsters' arms now, which amuses me.

On the Monday, as he was still ill, we let him watch another Star Wars film. I figured a kid friendly one like the Phantom Menace was in order to prevent further comments about dismemberment around his mum and me getting Looks. He watched it quietly, got a bit excited by the pod race, and then ten minutes later said "this is boring dad, I want to watch the one with the snow and the jedi and the space worm".

The Hivemind wins.

Blimey, he made the right film choice there.

Are you sure he's yours?

Heh. In fairess, ESB is my favourite, but I've never been as critical of the new trilogy as some others, which appears to be the incorrect view.

So far this week, I've been approached for jobs at a Formula One team and one that is in one of the most beautiful places of the west coast of Ireland. And I've had to say no to both of them. Fucks sake.

Heh. Me too.

Stupid recruiters that I've never contacted in the first place "somehow" getting my details years after I hid my profiles on job sites and never quitting contacting me despite my "straight to bin" handling method.

Didn't have quite the right skill set for the F1 job (needed MATLAB experience). And BMIBaby are pulling out of the Manchester < -> Knock route in October, so flying Mrs P in or coming home would be difficult.

Pets not welcome by private landlords when people are forced, due to repossessions or other reasons, to change where they live. almost a pet a day is brought into the battersea Animal home now, according to the article. However, as always, there's a website, but a search in a 30 mile radius of wehre MaliTowers exists finds only 4 places to accomodate a small animal, cat and dog. One of which apepars to be another website. I can imagine it is a real concern for the animal keepers, but I can equally understand why a landlord would prefer not to have animals in their property.

Pets are a luxury. And, after all, we're all in this together, so pooch has to take some of the burden.

I read something about the number of pets dumped at pets homes shooting up generally recently, due to the expense and people worrying about their incomes. Not surprising, but rather sad. I guess if someone will dump a dog because they're too costly, they're the sort of person who probably shouldn't have had the dog in the first place, so the dog's probably better off without them.

Big responsibilities, animals. Friends of ours have 2 cats, and they (the friends) spend an absolute fortune getting them (the cats) patched up at the vets after they (the cats, again) fight with other cats. Hundreds of pounds a month.

Under the circumstances, and without prejudice to a contrary position, that's probably for the best.

Spent my lunchtime having a browse through DealExtreme looking for more stuff to buy that I don't need. I see they now do iPhone controlled helicopters now which my boss has taken a chance on. For $40, it's worth a go, but I'll let him find out. ;)

Couldn't find anything to buy myself but this seems like a handy gadget for transferring old cassettes to MP3 via USB. Not that I have any tapes left.

SKy have seen fit to change their channel packages, freeze prices and some other stuff. I now have MTV, so I can now keep up with those kardashians. Hurrah. I think.

Without precise facts getting in the way, I'm inclined to side with the actions of the florist. 'A number of men' with a gun try to rob your shop. You stab one of them in panic, he dies.

Unless the gun was also owned by the florist and he/she just opened up on the would-be theives with blade and bullet.
