Wanted big tent for a trip in a couple of weeks. Spotted a bargain on FB marketplace, had to put it up to check it was all there. It was. Bargain! Darkened bedrooms, room to stand, the lot. (There's a pole for the front porch, I just haven't bothered with it, which is the main reason for it looking a little sad.)

Looks like one of the Coleman tents that stay nice and dark inside. A family friend has one similar, and they really like it. Looks like a good find there JBR.
It is! Coleman Rocky Mountain plus 5. I took it down yesterday and miss looking at it.
More bloody glasses.
With beer in them, right?
that, too. You can get a steak and cheese ciabatta, chips, and a pint for less than a tenner at lunch there.

I bought TWO LITRES of whipping cream because it was marked down to £1.08.

We now have a kilogram of butter and a litre of buttermilk :D
A while ago I bought this thing. A Powkiddy (worst brand name ever) RGB30. It's lovely but the d-pad was awful and the face buttons weren't great.

So I've bought a new d-pad, buttons and membranes and it has massively improved it.

Not sure if anyone here is into Pico-8 but you should be. It runs great on this because of the 1:1 ratio screen.
That looks awesome. I'm sorely tempted to get one.

They're pretty cheap. WhatGeek are doing them for 52 quid if you want a UK seller. I think I bought mine direct from China though

Ideally you want two proper branded SD cards. One for your game files and one for the operating system. I switched from JelOS to ArkOS (simple to do). There is a great guide about how to do that.

I swapped out the d-pad for one from an Anbernic device and it was a big improvement. Had to order the d-pad from Anbernic via AliExpress but they sent a spare, so I'm happy to send you one.

It is useful for work.. system layouts and things
I keep track of the upcoming bin collection on mine.
I didn’t have any problems with the standard d-pad on here

As well as pico8 it also does gb and gbc really well

I did like the supplied OS ( JELOS) but as it’s no longer supported I also switched to ArkOS
Zaph, I got a lot of false diagonals. Fine for most games though.

Pico-8 is a joy!

Might just be builds / revisions (I've had mine for a while) or may be that i'm not playing anything that needs precise directional controls

Retrogamecorps has reviews of virtually all of these devices - https://www.youtube.com/c/retrogamecorps

He has a really good page on this device here : https://retrogamecorps.com/2023/10/27/p ... ter-guide/ and does cover swapping the membranes out , 3d printing some d-pad spacers , and adding tape to cover for false diagonals if you wanted other options.

Excellent, thanks Zaphod. I keep being tempted by the Odin 2, while also doubting I'll have much time to use it. This might be a cheaper way to scratch the itch.

The Retroid Pocket 4 Pro is a bit cheaper than the Odin 2 but can do PS2/GameCube.

The RGB30 tops out at PS1/Dreamcast but definitely has it's own strengths. For example, the screen is great for vertical aspect arcade games.
The spendiest of my synths by quite some margin… just so happened to come out after my birthday. I’d had my eye on the original which is now discounted but my financial planets were aligned for me to go for this instead.

Elektron Digitakt II
And two of these, boo!

Mere days away from 6 months in and the kitchen walls are re-boarded and plastered, electrics and plumbing first fixes done, oak shelves and sills have turned up, and because they bafflingly offered us a 10% discount out of the blue the cabinets have been ordered, probably arriving next week, maybe the same day as the new french door onto the conservatory.

We really should decide on paint and sockets.
Replaced the old large battered shed, with a smaller better one.

I had too much rubbish in the old one. Was an excuse for a clear out.
Nice shed! Did you put it up yourself, or did some people come and do it for you?

I hope your kept the wheel hub that's holding the door open.
Takes courage to downsize a shed, hats off to you Kov!

Is that not a brake disc?
Sheds should be bigger not smaller. He’s doing man wrong.

Yes. That'll teach me not to hit the zoom.

They built it and took the old one away.

I kept the disk. It’s a reminder of when a wheel came off on a motorway. The tarmac ground the disk flat on ine side.

I have a separate bike shed. :)

Joined Team Milwaukee with a set of these, they seem really great so far! Although to be fair all I've done as yet is use them to make noises while I move around pretending to be a robot.
I bought some EXCITING new things.

2 new buckets, as the other ones had holes in
A new wash sponge for the car
A brush thing that fits on the end of the pressure washer (the cheap one, not the one that oscillates)
A new cobweb brush

I honestly felt like I was treating myself to these things, and almost naughty for spending money on them. Truly what a shit life.

That's mandatory, is it not? Just like kitchen and barbecue tongs MUST be clicked multiple times any time they are handled.

I coveted a new dustpan and brush for weeks before I finally took the plunge and bought it as a treat. Now I’m refusing to use it because I don’t want to spoil it by getting it dirty, so instead I’ve just put it next to the old knackered one that I’m still using, so that I can look at it.

Used mine a fair bit, decking job, masonry drilling for an outside socket and robot walking too. Very impressed.

Sounds like you need a never-used dustpan and brush to clean up after all that drilling. £6, final offer.
Is it Milwaukee?
It’s Nutmeg by Morrisons.
But why are the edges of the new one serrated?

The green goes really well with the wood of the brush.
The serrated edges are for picking your teeth
For fending off attackers
Extra traction in adverse weather conditions.
