Doing something about it

No.. The ones in May are Trail trainers, to replace my old trail ones.

I have 2 pairs of road trainers on the go at once. Just in case something happens to a pair, I always have an alternative. Also I tend to swap out at 650km, as I am heavy it can impact the foam, and damaged trainers can cause injuries.
I was retiring a pair that were close to 500km, with the the pair I got March, and have done about 100km in those.
My Orange ones are at about 400km, so will replace them in 200km which might be too close to my Marathon in October.

These ones I will start doing small runs in them, to get used to them, as these will be my Marathon trainers.

So I have 3 pairs of road on the go at the moment, if you don't include trail and off road (4 pairs)

Long story shot, they last about 6 months :)
My Ghosts have 720km on since January, I should probably change them but I won't have time to break them in before the half and 10km races in Sept.
I usually change them at about 750km but just go off feel really. Although if you only have one pair on the go sometimes you don't notice how firm they're getting until you get new ones and it's like running with pillows on your feet. I'm trying not to think about shoes too much, though. The simplicity of running being one of the things I like about it. It's getting a bit silly like bicycles now with park runners buying £200+ shoes that probably don't make much difference unless you're actually Kipchoge, who I am not.
Man, here's you guys keeping track of how many km you've done in your trainers, and mine break out the champagne if they see daylight.

I have an app for it. Every run I do, I select what I ran in.
I replace mine when they wear through the sole. The merrells are just starting to go and I got them in Jan, so it works out about right.

I tend to get last seasons shoes as they are cheaper, or I get 50% with vitality life insurance. Which allows me 2 pairs a year.

I agree trainers are silly money.
Garmin is fab for recording.
Is that through Connect?
Yes. Under, 'more', then 'gear'.

After each run, I click add gear to the activity.
You can do it in Strava as well. I don't really use Connect for anything except for everything has to go there before it uploads to Strava.
I prefer Connect, but I use Strava, just means adding the kit twice.

It doesn't affect some people, but I'd start to get pains in knees etc at about 800km. Can you get the same again? Trainers don't really break in anyway, but if you have the same then they should feel as good, only with a bit of extra bounce. Lovely.
Just got the event guide for my marathon emailed to me... nope not panicking not not at all..

Dude, you'll be fine. You've worked hard on your training, you've put the time/miles in, and you know you can do tough endurance events from your triathlon stuff. The buzz on the day will carry you across that finish line if nothing else. YOU GOT THIS!

You knew it was 26 miles long though right?
He heard what happened to Pheidippides and now has concerns.

thank goodness i won't have to do the .2 :P
I made that mistake the first time I attempted a half marathon just on my own. Literally stopped my watch about 100M short. I was devastated.
I have my start time of midday, a bit late. Will mean I will be finishing when it is dark :P

On the plus side, at least I don't need a hotel for the night before now :)

I will need to get some afternoon runs in, so booking 2 hour lunches now :)
When and where is this marathon again, dude?
Manchester in 31 days (9th October)
I need to get some runners. And actually start running. Or moving. Or doing anything physical really.

On the subject of changing shoes; I saw an MTV thing, probably Cribs, with Damon Dash and I wasn't fully sure who he was (something to do with music I guess) but I do clearly recall that he claimed to only wears shoes ONCE and then bin them, as a way of flaunting his wealth. Clearly rap-singing is hard on the soles, man.

Yeah, everything had to be box fresh. Absolute cretin.
101 minutes.

Next one end of Oct.
Wow!

Good going

How fast were you today!? Great stuff!
Thanks mate. I'd planned a long one/half marathon today, set off feeling good and just dropped into a pace that felt like I could keep it going. Is it national half-marathon day or something? Ended up in the middle of one taking place in Blackpool, could have got some free water but it felt wrong.
A good diabetic day. These sensors are fab expensive but fab.
Tunnel run done. Popped in a 21 minute 5k and 46 minute 10k along the way .

Feel a bit flat for some reason. I think it was because I was 9 seconds off the 45s
Frustrating in that sense, but otherwise - whoosh! A bit slower to halfway and you'd be all over it (but by the time you try again, you might not need to slow at all).
Awesome stuff Mali.

You might have done it anyway, you can't really trust your watch times because of the tunnel, though.
Yeah, one one hand, I don't think that data is right ,as I remember looking at my watch after 2km and thinking to myself I was running at 4-30 pace, on the other, I absolutely buried myself at the start and on the upslope
Did you not get a chip time for the race?
The chip time was 48-32, and I had a look this morning, and it was a measured 10k, so i suspect the watch is wrong adding an extra 500m to it as I beeped it as I went over the sensors.

Going by chip time, I was in the top eighth of the runners (168/1337)so I'll take that.
Here, I think anything from 4th km is right, as you go straight underground from the start
Yeah, you can normally see the bits where it's lost GPS on the map as straight lines. I've had a few like that or it gets my heart rate way higher than it really is making me think I'm having some sort of cardiac event.
Felt good after a 5k park run on Saturday (despite a brutal headwind), and a run around Cardiff with the punks on Sunday, so as the weather was better today, went out feeling great and dropped a new best 5k in 22:22 today!
Was struggling toward the end but held in there.

I have set the watch to show average pace, which has helped a bit, but I think I need current and average and distance and know what gets me when in advance.
Fantastic time dude!
Thanks! Fewer than three weeks until the half! Probably should do something about that, rather than pratting about in new shoes!

I need to reserve a table for post race food, whilst I think of it
I haven't run further than 4 miles in weeks so I'll mostly be walking I imagine :DD
That is bloody fast, well done.
Yeah, flying along there.

I've had a cold for two weeks now, I thought not running much might at least have helped with the Achilles tendonitis that I've been experiencing but no such luck. It's actually fine when I'm running but just feels bad in the mornings. So unless it gets worse I think I'll just ignore it and see what happens.

Wild swimming in October. Water was bloody freezing to start off with. Had to do the get in, get out, get in again trick.

Once I was used to it, it was so invigorating! Needed hoodie on for 40 minutes on the walk back.
Good luck @KovacsC in Manchester today. You've done the hard bit, so go smash it! :luv:
Have a great one!
Stupid Manchester Marathon street closures have prevented me getting to two jobs within the contracted SLA. I'm going to have to write to the council to tell thgerm not to do it again.
