Somewhat ;)

I still think that something happens to people when they learn Java, they completely lose any ability they may have ever had to design UX.

We also want JavaScript, react redux, react native and kotlin.

So we aren't that picky ;)

Spent the weekend clearing out my mancave. I can now see the carpet for the first time in years and thrown a lot of stuff out.

I decided to download an app ('MyLibrary') to record all the books I've got on shelves or on piles on the floor. Took about four hours over two days to do and it turns out that I've got 676 books including 40 maps. Now downloaded the spreadsheet to my main PC to start weeding out duplicates and deciding which are worth keeping and which I probably should chuck.

Or I could just put up more shelves.

I probably had a about that before we jumped ship .... I felt very sad getting rid of half of it. Books are lovely.

I haven't worked out the proportion of American Civil War v British history v the whole of Fiction yet. I'm not sure I want to. This all, of course, excludes the stuff on the Kindle as that library all fits neatly into my manbag or (in three out of four seasons every year) my jacket pocket.

Also, bookshops who have their own cataloguing systems and stick a label over the standard ISBN barcode, forcing me to either enter it by hand from the copyright page or get sticky fingers trying to peel it off, are now clearly too organised for their own good.

This! E-books are great for travel but never feels or smells quite the same as the paper version.

Also, libraries are brilliant and being able to search the catalogue and request stuff, and, more importantly, renew directly from my phone is wonderful.

Had dinner at the food court in Holland Village. Food was awesome and super cheap (like 3 quid). Rather surprisingly there were pints of tiger for 6 dollars! How the dick did I not find this place before? Also yummy food but whatevs.

Also today I have started reading hurrahforgin on Facebook and may love her a little bit.

Also also today Ruth’s sister has left her husband and rocked up at the house Ruth and the boys are staying at (they’re still in the UK obvs). Muchos stress and so forth.

All go in Lewis world today.

The main thing though is SIX DOLLARS A PINT. Jesus.

Ffs, the Soon to be ex Husband has turned up at the house to talk to Ruth’s Sister and there’s lots of shouting - Ruth’s in the house with the kids while Alice and Tom are outside, and Ruth’s somewhat worried. Have suggested she asks him to leave, threaten to call the police if he doesn’t and gets a neighbour to come round ASAP... they’re almost in the middle of nowhere. Fuckety fuck fuck fuck

In F1, the hoardings say "When you drive, never drink" (sponsored by Heineken).
What was wrong with "Don't drink and drive"? It's a much more pithy phrase, that flows a lot better. Is that phrase trademarked maybe?

The message now is don't even have one. I think the "never" is supposed to emphasise that. Drink and drive has been around for ages and a lot of people take it to mean don't have more than two.

OK, that’s it, I’ve lost the plot. I was about to get in the shower at 6.15am and I’m thinking about the calls I have to make today, with it being Monday, when I suddenly realise it’s Saturday.

And the reason I realised this is that I was thinking about why people don’t queue properly in the chippy any more, as it was chaos as usual, last night. But as I only go to the chippy on Fridays, today MUST be Saturday, right?

And then I was wide awake, so there was no point in going back to bed for a lie in.

Eejit.

I unlocked the "Advanced Middle Class" cheevo last night when I went to Proms in the Park. Sadly it was only the Bedford edition, but fortunatly they dragged a London orchestra up to play the actual music.

Leslie Garret did the singing, and she did fine except for saying "Brexit? What Brexit?" after Rule Britannia which was pointless and stupid. I'm not even sure what it means.

Author:  markg [ Mon Aug 06, 2018 18:10 ]
Post subject:  Re: Bits and Bobs 50

10-12 miles, from looking on reddit the lower end of that is easily achievable. I also only weigh 71kg, it's flat and I shouldn't be needing to stop/start all the time. The challenge is probably not so much battery life as getting there without falling off.
