It's a bit drastic to have to grow your own band. You couldn't find anyone in Watford to play the drums?

It's a good warm-up technique for your fingers before the guitar-widdling begins.

I'll come on tonight then. I can't tell if my headset is working though. I can hear people through it, but people don't seem to be able to hear me.

And there doesn't appear to be a sound test type thing built into the XBox that I can find.

I can any of the four band members if you want, but difficulty settings will vary wildly based on the song picked if I'm vocalist.

Try making a voice message, and listening to it but don't send it. That'll check the hardware.

Dimrill had this problem last night, it was actually the perfect set-up as far as me and myp were concerned.

And poor Runcle for having a 0.4 characters per minute typing speed... it is pretty funny, Grim... is right.

The rest of the band can't hear the singer. It's a feature, not a bug.

Audition is for the people who want to make their own songs for Rock Band.

They've basically updated it so that if you get a developer's account, you can make any song to be put into the game, but obviously it's designed for people who own the copyright.

There's a feature about how Jonathan Coulton made The Future Soon for it (with video) here:

The voice chat in Rock Band meant they couldn't hear me. Switching to party chat meant that they could.

Great news! RB2 has been patched today to include, amongst other things, an extra sort mode in quickplay which shows how many stars you have for each song!

Terrible news! After patching, every song is marked as having zero stars and the only way to change this is to beat your existing high score! :'(

At least there's no note-related achievements in Rock Band (that I can remember). Try going for the 1000 note streak achievement in GH2 while having no idea how close you are.

And apparently HOPO chords are easier to hit now (in line with how they work in RB:B)

HOPO chords FTL in pre-patch RB2 but FTW in RB:B so patched in RB2 FTMFW KTHXBAI.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
(or to put it another way: hammer-on chords seem really hard to play in RB2 without strumming but they were tweaked slightly to make them easier to hit in Rock Band: The Beatles, and the patch applies this change to RB2)

That's the thing, nobody really knows; it's just that people have reported more success hitting them in RB:B than in RB2. It could be a more relaxed timing window for HOPO chords perhaps?

It wasn't too bad in GH3, although I think it was more the "100 note streak" popups that at least gave me some sort of idea how far I was from the target. If I'd kept glancing at the note counter while I was doing it I'm sure I'd have messed it up a lot more often than I did. Having no indication at all in GH2 is terrible though, I played for ages and kept thinking "surely I must've done it by now" and wondering whether the achievement would pop up straight away if I did it (it did).

It's hard not to randomly choose 10 Queen songs and not come up with an amazing set, but the October 20th Queen track pack for Rock Band manages to collect 10 of the very best.

We knew back in August that a 10-pack of Queen was on its way to Rock Band, but the only song we were sure of at the time was "Another One Bites the Dust." If you've ever been a fan of the band, even briefly, then you know all of these songs by heart. Check out the full list:

Another One Bites the Dust
Crazy Little Thing Called Love
One Vision
Fat Bottomed Girls
I Want It All
I Want to Break Free
Killer Queen
Somebody to Love
Tie Your Mother Down
Under Pressure

If you read that and didn't get all giddy, then this track pack probably isn't for you. The rest of you, get your giddy on.

Cool, but why does that say the tracks cost 99p? Is that what they cost on PS3 because 160M$ is £1.36 by my calculations...

I've been doing a gaywood recently and have dropped about 4000 points on rock band tracks so I'll yoink all those Queen ones and Electric Six. Will have to preview the Raconteurs ones though to see if they're worth singing.

The only one I'm not that bothered by is Tie Your Mother Down, but if there's a discount for getting the lot then I'm there.

Just hope they're masters. Otherwise I might as well go and get Queens greatest hits 3 and listen to the tracks be ruined for less cost.

That hadn't occured to me. The awful cover of Killer Queen from GH1 went past on my iPhone's shuffle the other day and I was sick in my mouth a little.

Having said that, when did we last see RB DLC (or GH for that matter) that wasn't a master track?

It's a fucking shitty selection. How many of those would be any fun to play whatsoever? Another One Bites the Dust, for fuck's sake? Crazy Little Thing Called Love, One Vision, and Tie Your Mother Down are the only ones on there that'll be even vaguely interesting to play. Possibly I Want it All.

Latest. Answer. To a question. Ever. And not quite what you were asking for, but the RB site's got a Thing that gives some cursory details of your band's status. Like so.

I also love the picture-creation tools. Behold the slightly camp majesty of Jake Awesome!

All the block-rockin' beats in Lego Rock Band have been revealed, with Warner Bros. also confirming upcoming DLC and a song exporting feature. Xbox 360 and PS3 owners will have the option to download "all of the songs in the Rock Band Music Store that have been identified to be suitable for all ages." Only songs deemed appropriate will appear within the Lego Rock Band Store and the game should "highlight" any newly added "family-friendly" tracks.

The Lego Rock Band disc export will cost $9.99 (800) and transfer all tracks from the Lego disc for use on the regular Rock Band platform. It appears to work in the same way as the conversion of the original Rock Band disc. Check out the full set list for the console and DS versions of Lego Rock Band after the break.

So they're going to put the swearing back into the 'adult' games now, then?

Doubtful; I would guess this is more about being able to "responsibly" sell DLC to Lego Rock Band owners, rather than allowing the main Rock Band games to become M-rated (or whatever the PEGI equivalent is).

That tracklisting looks like awesome fun for parties though; day 1 purchase for me, I reckon. (I counted 24 songs that I'd either want for myself or for when I've got mates round, which is roughly the same as I originally counted for RB1 and RB2. No doubt there'll be a few that'll grow on me, too.) I'll just keep my fingers crossed that Argos's 20% discount on preorders offer rolls around yet again so I can get it for £30.

I'm not interested in it as a standalone game, but as a track pack import I'm totally there. If it works like RB1->RB2 (i.e. one disk works many times) I propose a Beex joint purchase.

I'd be up for this.

And it's people like us doing things like that which means the price of exporting has doubled.

I'll still do it though.
