Someone here has been after it for ages, so it might be worth highlighting that the Orange Box (360) is only £15 from that Gamestation link.

I still like it. It does require either:

a) proper team play from everyone
b) hilarious clowning from everyone

But as long as everyone is on The Same Page, I reckon it's good fun.

You also need a Good Host. It's very laggy at times, which is massively annoying considering how much better it is than, well, CoD and Halo if you're playing with the right people.

Twas I who was looking for Orange Box, but I've already got it now - thanks though.

When I've got some free time (aka, october) I'ld be well up for some TF2. It seems a lot of fun.

Shopto.net have various things in their sale, none of which really excite me. It is however worth mentioning that they are once again selling the PC version of The Orange Box for only £18, which is an enormous bargain just for TF2 alone.

ShopTo has a sale on:

http://www.shopto.net/page.php?page=search&categ=Sale

It seems to be mainly shit although Geometry Wars on the Wii for a tenner seems pretty good. They've got the Orange Box for the PC for £18 which is the first time I've seen it that cheap for a while.

Also you can get a £2 off voucher at http://gamers.eurogamer.net/giveaways.php?id=18 but make haste -- only 1534 discount vouchers left!

EDIT: Curses, you just saw their email as well, didn't you?

Is one of the new Tomb Raiders good? Because I heard rumours one was. I ask because Shopto has Legend for £8 and Anniversary for £13.

And I'm quite up for some jumping around...

Legends is easilly worth the price it goes for these days.

Bad bosses let it down, the gunplay and driving sections are average, but the platforming is ace.

I think Legends is genuinely good, if a tad short, with a pretty good story, exactly the right amount of cut scene (some of which, especially the "Cornwall? Take the M5 to the A30 CORNWALL?" line which still has me in stitches. Other leading reviewers disagreed shall we say.

Anniversary is merely good. It suffers because it doesn't have Legend's atmosphere. Because your back at base people weren't there in TR1, they're not around for the remake and you feel really too alone. You'll meet the odd human baddy but rarely, and the locations and conversations are neither as varied or as good.

For £8 Legends is damn near essential. Do be aware though, preowned it's in Gamestations 4 for £20, along with Crackdown and Earth Defence Force, all of which you MUST own.

Well, Crackdown, certainly, folks. Still resolutely stuck in my top 10 favourite games, and not just on the 360. Just understand that 'the more you play it, the better it gets', now.

Not sure if this is a bargin or not but

Call of duty 4 for the xbox from Argos :

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/p ... DUTY+4.htm

£29.99 , but you can get any 2 £29.99 games for £45 , so 22.50 for COD4 ....

Pity none of the others look any good.

BTW PS3 version is also £29.99 and part of a 2 for £50 bundle on there :

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/p ... DUTY+4.htm

Two others i was looking at for the 360 :

Mass effect £9.99

Twin Peaks - Definitive Gold Box Edition (10-DVD) - £24.99

tempting if I had the money, really though if you havent seen twin peaks it is an amazing series my favourite at that. The pilot itself shits on most films as does the rest of the series and is nearly the pinnacle of lynchs stuff as controversial that mmight seem. Theres a definite decrease in quality in the second series but the actual characters pull the whol thing through to a weird end, and although the series was axed the finale works in a lynch way. Also Lynch pleased all his twin peaks fans when he decided to make a film on the series that never concluded and made a prequel, which is a big shit on the face but the film is mint aswell. Do it in that order or youll spoil it though.

Ah yes, that was posted on hotukdeals yesterday. Bear in mind this is the Scandinavian release, but it does have a 5.0 English track.

I also feel I should invest in Twin Peaks at some point.

If I dont have 5.1 (which I dont) will the DVDs play in stereo English?

Dumb question perhaps but I dunno.

I've taken the plunge on the Twin Peaks boxset, so I'll be able to answer any questions when it turns up.

CUS, from what I can find out about it, it's only the writing on the back of the box that's not in English, and everything else is indistinguishable from a UK release (if there was one).
At a glance, the extras seem to tie up with the Region 1 edition, but I haven't compared them in detail.

Lace, even if there isn't a stereo English option, I think the English 5.1 would still sound ok. Have you got any dvds that you can try out and set the audio track to 5.1 and see if they still sound alright?

Yes I have, good idea.

Come to think of it my 360 is set to Dolby 5.1 even though its not connected to anything capable of outputting that, and it works fine. guess that answers my questions.

If you don't have a 5.1 output set up, every DVD player ever downmixes it to two-channel. Furthermore, almost every DVD ever has a 5.1 track on it, whether Dolby Digital or DTS. If you use the 360 for DVD playback, downmixing is how it carries audio to the TV over whichever cable you use for that. That setting for "Dolby Digital 5.1" you refer to is for the optical cable, and if you don't have an amp, you more than likely don't have that plugged into anything.

Anyway, you'll be able to watch this.

Incidentally, many DVD players, when downmixing, don't bring the centre channel up high enough in the mix. I find watching DVDs on 2-channel systems annoying as the vocal track is often indistinct.

What you need are some really expensive speaker cables to magic up some of that missing mid channel.

Tosser :)

Did I not mention that in this thread? My apologies, picked up one of those with my 120gb HD last weekend.

Although Jericho is most likely to be rubbish, I feel compelled at £8, as I love Clive Barker stuff.
